You're right about not underestimating the heat. There's really nothing like it anywhere else in the world. I remember walking out of the airport at 2AM getting hit with that blast even at that hour. But the winters are pleasant.
I have the same memory... both with Kuwait and Dubai. Like an oven that was only turned off 5 minutes ago.

When I first went to the Middle East in summer (as I had only previously went in spring time). I was going through Dubai to Bahrain. And I got off the plane and I literally thought the heat was coming from the back of the plane engines until i stepped off the plane in Bahrain and it hit me that this is the actual temperature 😂

Oh yes that's correct about the weather. I've been to Saudi Arabia a couple years ago, n aaarrgghh 47 degrees... U know what I feel bbbuuurrrrnnnnnn 🔥.
6:03 it’s happens even to Arab themselves depending on the way you look like they gonna do this NOT all of them and it’s annoying but I could say it’s depends on the place that you went in , here in Saudi, there are municipalities that hold them accountable for raising prices. If they do so, you can report the shop through their own application and they will hold them accountable. ~

I lived in Qatar since I was born and no one has ever told me to pay extra money I bet this probably only happened like once in my whole life. I actually feel like they are very kind and if they forgot to give you like a burger for example they would literally give you two instead and apologize. This was my experience in Qatar and I loved it. 😘
1) If you are atheist or Jewish, keep it to yourself.
2) Avoid controversial political and religious topics.
3) Dress conservatively.
4) Avoid speaking up your mind. You don't like something or an experience, keep it to yourself.
5) Try to find an honest and local friend to help you and always seek advice.
This may differ depending on where you are and how long are you staying there.

Ur absolutely right about the traffic , for example in Saudi Arabia driving here is very dangerous , you can find all sort of reckless driving , some people drive against the right track so if ur not carful u gonna get an accident 😪 also if u were driving kind of slow and some kind of nut behind you driving so fast , u must move off so fast otherwise u gonna hit so bad from the behind cus that nut driver wont slow down , thats very common here though the government has been putting alot of strict rules . as a citizens we used to that reckless traffic environment but as an expat thats gonna drive u crazy 😅 but i really believe things gonna get better sooner or later cus i said rules has been very strict .

About beeps I remember my driver was beeping all the time I couldn’t handle it so I argued with him trying make it stop - I reckon he was using the beeps as a way to communicate with his Egyptian friends - still wondering how this okay with them 😃 ~

I believe Driving conditions are pretty safe in Dubai in terms of pedestrian crossings and signals. But for cyclists and electric bike users the roads are not well planned

Hello, when you talk about the heat in the Gulf, I was in Morocco during July 2018 and the temperature was well over 45 degrees in the desert, would you say it's much the same to Qatar, UAE etc. I want to work with the airlines in the future and a couple of them I am thinking working for are based in the Middle East. What really prepares you for the sweltering heat?
Yeh the temperature would be higher than 48 50 degrees in summer and even higher than that... It's a bit different than morroco

Yea there are some scammers around the arabian gulf. And the scammers are most likely foreigner from other arab countries like egypt. Though if you go to unsketchy places. Like the big cities you probs wont find any. Did i mention its very illegal?
Have you ever thought of teaching English in Beirut Lebanon ? here you can teach not only ESL English but also literature for the secondary school. I had all eras of literature starting with Shakespeare ending with the American poet Edgar Allan Poe. Think about it.

Hier are also some few tipps from an muslim lady about islamic customes:
1.stranger women and men dont shake hands in islam thats why many practicing muslim men and women would not want to touch the opposite gender (and when some do its just because of pressure to be polite to the guest). So one tipp i can give you, try to not touch the opposite gender in the middle east except they offer their hand first.
2. We pray in our home floors thats one of many reasons why we take of our shoes before entering the house. If you are a guest at somebodys house in the middle east just take of your shoes before entering.
3.its custom to bring a gift/gifts with you when you are invited to someones house( it doesn't have to by something expensive)
4. Before you enter the home of someone phone them that you are coming now or when you before the door please dont step inside before they call you in(even when the door is open) thats because muslim women wear the hijab before strange men but not at home so if there are muslim women in the family to give them time to wear it, always announce yourself before coming.

I’m too late to the party since the post is a year old. I hope that you didn’t give up Jenny. I am a native Arabic speaker. However, I speak French, German, and basic Spanish. The trick is to be immersed in the language. I don’t know where you live. If you have access to Arabic speakers, by all means connect with them. The reason why I studied German is because I love German cars and wanted to be able to read German car magazines. So if you have a hobby that is published in Arabic, that will help since it’s a hobby. Also, listening to Arabic songs on RUclips or to videos about interesting subjects to you with English lyrics/subtitles helps. Basically anything that is fun to you makes the hassle of learning a new language more interesting. Hope this helps.

I´ve been living in Doha as an expat (German ) for like 3 years now . Because of my Dads occupation we are able to live with high standards , compered to the western lifestyle . But some things really annoy me , like the heat or the arrogance and the recklessness of some people and locals . In my opinion since the embargo of Saudi Arabia , UAE , Bahrain etc , the situation in Qatar got really bad unfortunately , and I dont know how long Qatar can deal with these circumstances . I personally want to return to Germany , because things are a lot easier there like meeting friends etc . I had a good time here , but three years are more than enough .

I dont wanna argue with you because Qatar is still one of the most beautiful countries and I absolutely love the qatari people and culture . But for western people its not always easy there . The fourth point though:/ Let me tell you this. Unfortunately, people in the Arab world in general tend to take advantage of foreigners regardless of their race or ethnicity (lol people from other Arab countries included) especially those who are from the Gulf, Europe, the US, etc... I know this cuz I'm Jordanian and was born and raised in KSA then moved back to Jordan.
Intermirrage is common in my family, and my brother (Saudi) and sister (British) in law were deceived many times before whenever they come to visit. God I even once witnessed the public taxi driver trying to charge a foreign passenger (mostly American) a great sum of money for a short ride all while pretending not to comprehend what the foreigner was talking about when asking how much does it cost, which was unlikely since the area was a tourist attraction, until I pointed out that what he's got is more than enough and should ask for his change back from the driver. It's such a shameful thing to do, and I felt so proud that I could help back then. It's sad but true:'(

I want to travel to a Middle Eastern or north African country next Summer to study Arabic and immerse myself in an Arabic speaking culture. Which country or city do you suggest for me, like the most western student friendly??
I recommend you to travel to Egypt, as you know Arabic has so many dialects and the most popular widely spoken and understood is Egyptian Arabic. Furthermore, Egypt is full of culture and history you will surely love it.

@@mohamedalzohary280 your points might be true, but egypt is not foreign friendly. Scammers are widespread and it's not like Dubai, there won't be prices to read off of a menu you'll just have to get ripped off. I'd stick to the Gulf, avoid Saudi Arabia where possible.

I admire your adventurous spirit Mike! I'd love to travel to the Middle East, but alas I fear it is too dangerous to visit. For instance, you can't be gay there, & even appearing so can be a problem I think. Have you had any experiences about this topic, know of anyone that has, or any comments about the situation for living & traveling to there at all?
All middle east countries blocks gays BUT almost all of them are not extreme about that you just have to not show your sexuality .
BUT there is one country you definitely must not get near it if you are gay and that country is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia its way different than Qatar or UAE because in that Kingdom not only the government hates gays but also the people there the whole society hates gays.

I just think that if I could choose anywhere in the world to live it would be somewhere in the middle East. I love middle Eastern food I don't eat pork I think Arab women are the prettiest women in the world and whenever I'm talking to Arabs it's like I feel comfortable it's very hard to explain feeling really alienated in your own country that you grew up in but feeling completely at ease with a group of people from the other side of the world.

I drove cars in KSA, and Kuwait. You just have to adapt to the local way of driving. Kuwait was no problem, and KSA was totally mental. I drove a company car in Riyadh for over 4 years, and never got into a RTA. Why? Because I drove like the locals, ie. like mentalist!

Nice video. But man traffic is mental? 😂😂 I live in Qatar and right now I’m studying in Jordan. Have you ever been to Jordan? Traffic is really crazy out here, unlike Qatar (or gulf countries in general) where traffic is actually more organized and more strict. So I’d say traffic in The Levant is actually mental, not the GCC.
