- It's so much fun doing landscape photography with a photographer from another niche like Morten Hilmer.
Check out Morten Hilmer here: / mortenhilmer
For one, Morten isn't a landscape photographer. Secondly, Morten rarely does any sort of landscape photography. So, it's been a lot of fun here in Greece trying to push Morten out to doing something a little bit different.
Of course, even when we go out to do landscape photography, Morten finds any sort of animal to photograph. He found goats today.
Eventually, we made it to the opposite side of Crete and found this really cool cave to photograph. I'm not sure the images are brilliant today, but we had an awesome time putting together the vlog regardless.

Good night!
I can tell you already Brendan, that your photos are MUCH better than mine from this day:) So inspiring to hang out with you. You need to come to Denmark to do some wildlife photography so that I can give you something back for all the great inspiration:) See you in a few hours for sunset..
Hi Morten, if you are still in Hania area, and you want to shoot some wildlife, go find some Kri Kri Ibex up in the mountains.
I am proud. Very nice tree 👍
But are you proud of me, or the tree?
My most favorite photographers are together in one vlog. Oh boy, this is like dream coming true.
always fun to see pros using different approaches to shooting
Nice photos and places!!!
Absolutely love the framing of the cave!!!! 👌👌👌👌
Thanks B!
Lovely video, Brendan, and really enjoy watching the two of you. Looking forward to your next one.
greek here,i am happy that you liked my country
I love both your channels, I'm in the beginning of my career and although I may shoot weddings for the sake of money, wildlife and landscape is my ultimate goal. It is so true about landscape that you could go anywhere and there's always something, both your channels are highly entertaining and enjoy the work you do. Great stuff!
5:39 Glad you finally learned what the rest of your cap is for! Enjoyed the tour..........both of you are favorites.
Love the tree pic anyway! The light of the trees were awesome.
Was such beautiful light
Wild life in Crete is Brits in bars at 2am 😊
Hahaha! Only in Malia. But, definitely drunk people in general everywhere
Always good when two photographers you subscribe to get together! Even better when they contrast like you two!
Really enjoying this series with Morten. Looking forward to the next video! :)
Thanks for watching, Ceilih!
I really enjoyed the video and the photographs you ended up with! Have fun in Chania, the sunset at the bay is beautiful and the city has such a great vibe.
Thanks for watching!
3 people that I follow on youtube lol you Morten and Thomas .....epic
Fun Fact, Lynxes are one of the most endangered cats in the world. im not sure if they are considered Big Cats or not. And to Photograph one would be a huge treat for Morten imo. That cat is Elusive.
Hi Brendan Gypaetus barbatus is a big bird of pray you can find in Crete for wild life photography.
Made my day you did a Heston (long lens and a 🌲) 👍🤓 and it was a great video
i'm so happy i found your channel a few videos ago! have a great week!
So I am! Welcome to the community :D
I had a chance to visit Greece myself in past and yes the landscape is absolutely beautiful there. Thank you for showing us around... I've been myself shooting quite bit this summer as I travelled in Czech also some landscape but very different then yours... :):) mountains.
How are the Czech landscapes? I've really only been to the cities!
Seeing your videos and your photography style I think you would love it. I am originally from Jeseniky it is a lower mountains in East Czech. If you are patient enough, I'll be publishing cinematic movie I am just cutting where I will be showing off lots of that. BUT FOR YOU, I would suggest south of Prague there is awesome scenary around city Ceske Budejovice and then east of Prague mountains called "Krkonose" look it up. Since you love wildlife I also go every year to Slovakia where my husband is from. Look up mountains "Mala Fatra" and "VYSOKE TATRY". Vysoke Tatry is very high mountains there is awesome access there, view is just a killer and if you want wild animals, brown bears are there for sure mainly in Mala Fatra. Be extremely careful though, have a tour person with you or just go on tourist places. There is bear attack every year. When I went there, one attack happened a week before I got there. I go with small kids so I have to be cautious where I go myself. I hope all this helps. I'll be there next summer again...
Thanks for the tips! Maybe next year I'll make my way that direction.
If you are looking for an amazing landscape, try to visit the rocks of Meteora in central Greece.
I was there about 3 years ago. It is incredible!
morten hilmer 👍👍👍
At last, 4 days late but I have actually got to watch this video, thanks RUclips, great video 👍
If you are on Crete, you have to do a trip to the Samaria Gorge, it is amazing!
It does look awesome. I might see if we can get there when Greg's here.
man i would love to go back to greece!
you have great content as usual
thanks for sharing this with us
really enjoyed watching this
Thanks for watching!
Very nice. The cave site was awesome. However, you were to have Morton take long exposure selfie, where is it? Great work!
He's too big to fit in the frame! haha
A video with Morten in = liked before watched. Also i love this channel Brendan. subbed!!!!!
Haha, thanks! Hopefully you don't change that like after watching.
Cheers!
Love a good RUclips crossover
great video
Lol ow boy, well prepared
Next time you should totaly visit Ios (its an island) in Greece and I think you could find some cool landscapes there too ! Great work by the way! welldone :)
We've passed it on the ferry a couple times. It looks really cool!
Brendan van Son Im glad that you liked it ! :)
Brendan, as you use the 100-400 do you find yourself not using the 70-200 as much or at all? with your style of landscape and street photography, I ask as i am getting ready to invest in one or the other. Thanks for all your responses to my questions.
Ha! You crazy Canuck!! :-)
The chair in the cave might have been a great prop.
It could have been. But, I felt like for my style I was hoping for a pure landscape
Brendan van Son , of course I know it’s not your style.
For some bazaar reason I am unable to view this, your latest video? Every other RUclips video I select plays fine, this one I keep getting "something has gone wrong, tap to try again"
any plans for a return collaboration where you head with Morten for some wildlife photography?
Yup, definitely will happen at some point!
I like to see great photographers and youtubers working together. It's like we make with our photography friends but in a high level 😀🖒.
I recommend you to come to Palatinate region in Germany in Autumn. It's amazing how looks the grapes plants fields. You can contact with Michael Breitung, another great landscapes photographer.
Thanks for your vlogs.
Would love to get there in Autumn, I actually almost had an assignment there last year in November but it got cancelled.
Curious to Morten's watersnowy photo. Any chance to see it somewhere?
2!
Looking at Morten with that enormous can(n)on that he uses for vlogging I'm thinking that it's a shame that there is no digital large format camera - just imagine Ben Horne vlogging with 8x10... :-D

Such a peaceful easy feeling......especially if you're out shooting Eagles........
That tree image was great. I don't think Morton was impressed by the feral goats. As for the cave shots, I hope you checked the tide cycle before going in there.
Glad you liked that image. I'm happy with it. As for the cave, the tides are really tame here. Hardly any movement at all.
From my experience the Med doesn't really have a large tidal range. But a good point.
You oughta show Morten the BVS MotherPhotographer's Facebook thread with the wildlife images in it from a few days back :)
Very nicely done . Just wish you would have shared one or two of Morten’s images. It would have made this vlog complete. I know you mentioned viewing his vlog. Still, really like your content. 🤓
Yeah, Morten won't likely have even edited his photos yet. But, on his vlog he'll likely share some!
First! Brendan.
Nice work but, you guys did not photograph the little chair. such an unusual place for it.
It is a pity. I was two times in Chania this week. Would have been fun meeting some famous RUclipsers :-)
hahaha, definitely not famous! We would have loved to have met you, too!
@@BrendanvanSon I am sure!
Brendan, one question. Why do you take photographs? Just curious of your reason.
Haha,
1) it's my job.
2) I love it
3) to share the beauty of the world with those who came travel to see it
Thanks Brendan. I am looking at a training video on travel Photography and it covers self discovery and one of the thought provoking questions was Why do you take images. They also said that because of there being over a billion cameras and phones being used on the planet there is no money to be made in travel photography as the shot will have already been taken hundreds of times already. I have followed you for the past 4 years and I immediately thought of you. David Hobby is the tutor, anyway thanks for the journey I see places I would rarely get to, thats said I am in Crete in 3 weeks!
So you got a car, got half-way up a mountain and then you realized that you didn't have fuel.....
All the way up... Lol
2nd
Always check the gas gage before heading out.
This time you’ve even manage to outdo a certain Mr. Van Son, GND wise.......
Great video Morten, I just got back from shooting landscapes in Greece, Mountains and seascapes, It was a suprisingly diverse place to shoot. You should check out my vlog if you get the time. Keep up the good work though man, I have subbed your channel 😊
Brendan what's up man? You are known for being a meticulous planner (I am paraphrasing Thomas Heaton)... so what happened? You almost ran out of gas and just as bad, you did not think of taking plenty of water to hydrate you and your buddy on a hot day! C'mon man, you are hilarious.
Wait until you see tomorrow's fail. hahaha
As usual, I'll be waiting.
First😎
Welcome back to the first comment points. Here's 80.
Always enjoy the videos as much for your sunny, globe-trotting optimism as the photography. (It's like vicariously experiencing the life I might have had, given the courage and the talent.) But that insipid music, dude! Please find something better, or just go minimalist and do without; it's really painful to listen to.
