This is a masterclass in under 20 minutes on how to make impossible shots make possible with your techniques, passion, and and eye for a Photograph. Your choice of background music is also soothing that suited well with the scenery. I can watch video like these for hours. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Cheers Gavin. You can't believe how excited I was when I captured the rams. I even told the wife I had a belter to print for the house. Strangely, she didn't share my passion though 😁😁
Great Video Gary - images are amazing. Really liked the locations and as you say the colour of the see - well absolutely amazing - beats Blackpool any day.
14:51 oh my gotta capture an image like that Gary. What a fantastic video and some great great shots. Unbelievable that only a couple of canoeists turned up but what an opportunity for photography 😊 A great watch and well produced too👍
Another masterclass from the master Brilliant Gary. I have been catching up with your video's as we have been away on holiday. Those seas were wild. You captured some amazing image's. Look forward to seeing your next video.
Glad to find you Gary. Great tutorials, and just incredible images. I like the way you advocate for how others interpret the work, while your intention and story is personal to you. Perhaps this defines art, fine or otherwise! I also really enjoy your real enthusiasm for the places you visit. That's something that underpins the work too, adding something special and another important part of the story.
Like many videos of yours again enjoyed and especially inspired by taking a step back from possibly a boring location, revisiting possibilities and transforming it into fine art. Also by taking us through the process and explanation of the environment, being from the Netherlands myself, very inspiring for my next vacation to England.
I'm a new subscriber and I love Lewis and Harris. It never fails to impress, no matter the weather. Your eye is fantastic and it's great to see you get great images in these conditions.
Thanks for taking me back to Bosta! Good to see the coos are every bit as belligerent as they were last time I visited. Love the 'I'm here so I WILL go out' approach. Some of those 'not ideal' day shots are amazing. Just back from Mull where we found some cracking paces off the beaten track and now planning a trip to Orkney in 2024. Can't get enough of Scotland!
One of my favourite places. The wife went for a swim September 21 when we were there. Always wondered what the bell was for. It was under the water when we were there.
Beautiful Location Gary, loved you opening Quote, I've written that done to put on the wall and remind me to get out and get the shot no matter the conditions. really enjoyed the way you went about capturing the tide bell. Great images as always and thanks for sharing.
A visit to Lewis is definitely on my bucket list, and not just for the photography as a Morrison, it is our ancestral home. Our family left to come to Ulster in 1740. Great images.
I always love your videos, put over in simple terms, and explained really well. Whenever I lose my mojo for photography, you are always my go to, as your videos are so inspiring and give great new ideas for me to try. The images are outstanding and absolutely stunning. Keep it up, as I'm sure you inspire so many people.
Really enjoyed this Gary, great locations and beautfiul images. We have a tidal bell not far from us. They are cool looking things, though ours isn't as cool as the one you found. Great video again mate 😊😊
Absolutely stunning images, I know I would have struggled to find a good composition there. And when I see your images I'm blown away. And the video production is top notch as well. Good work and greetings from Norway
Gary, I have photographed some of the locations in this video so know how utterly beautiful the area is but what a stellar set of images! Thanks for sharing something so special.
Got control of the TV remote for a week as the wife has gone on holiday 😂 just watched this in glorious 55” and it was stunning. Beautiful long exposure images Gary 👌🌊 can’t beat having a beautiful beach to yourself, happens a lot on Orkney too
Hi Gary, As another has said, nice timing. I’m an Aussie on The Wallaby in Europe/UK for 8 weeks. Currently in Dresden to photograph my favourite building anywhere - the magnificent Frauenkirche. But my real goal is Lochinver for a couple of days to do exactly what you have just shown us. And that will be a couple of weeks before I head home. Lucky I’m in Dresden as I should be able to pick up a couple of NDs which, with my minimalist packing, I left at home. Thanks for some inspiration I just loved your passion on this little shoot. I spent 3 years on exchange at Kinloss with the RAF and I feel exactly as you do about the West Coast and that is why I keep being drawn back. Cheers Robin
That was some video Gary , WOW! Your photos were tremendous and you made those beaches look like they were photos of Barbados or the Bahamas or somewhere, truly outstanding work Gary, I loved it. You have a great style about how you make your photos and your videos, I enjoy how you explain how you achieved your shots and show us some of the pitfalls in trying to capture them. Thank you for sharing these beautiful sights with us 😁👍
Can never get enough of beaches and waves. Could watch and listen for hours on end. You got some cracking images Gary. Thanks for taking us along. Nice teaser! 🙂
I was noticing in your drone footage above the shallow waves at the beach edge- there were very cool kelp floating in the shallow waves that would make some terrific abstract shots. Ever take stills using your drone?
Unbelievable conditions and location. The fact you had many of those locations all to yourself was awesome. I’d be in my element all alone there and never question the fact I was alone. I’d get lost in my own world taking photos of such beautiful locations Outstanding images GG. 999 🤳🏼 there’s a their on the loose ;)
Thank you for this wonderful episode filled with generous explanation. Your videos are always of great interest. Presented with all the possibilities of composition from your point of view, it opens a different perspective on this magnificent art. Thank you .Sincerely M.L.Sandav
Hello Gary. It's been awhile since I viewed one of your videos. As always, your content is top-drawer. I must say, however, that you have dramatically improved your video production quality and made the viewing experience most enjoyable. Well done, sir!
Thanks Gary great video, as a beginner may I ask, when would you use a 6 stop over a 10 stop? Any advice would be very welcome. Oh and ive added a sub, keep up the great work, all the videos Ive watched have been very well explained.
You use a 6-stop over a 10-stop when you want to extend the length of time the shutter remains open but not quite as long. A 6-stop filter is great for extending your shutter speed when photographing waterfalls for instance.
I'm just starting to get in my photography from a 10 year break, things have changed a lot reagarding to tech and so on. Thought and jump on here as i like my landscape and seascape and i really the the tibe bell shots, i'll be there a long time on my thoughts how to take shots
I think the location stole your heart - Been to Skye several times, but always banging on about Lewis & Harris, I'm not wrong - Some epic photography PS: Can you spare a few hours on your route back to capture the lochan just south of Rannock Moor (right of the A82) the one with the long winded name?
Loved this and have to agree with your statement! I'd actually go a step further and say a competent photographer should be able to photograph most subjects and be able to work out framing and a pleasing composition! Photographing different subjects broadens one's knowledge and just adds to one's skillset, plus it keeps things fresh and fun! Stunning work Gary as always! Chers.
I am heading up there in October, your welcome to join us if your free... only have 4 to 5 days on the Islands but cant wait to go back.. Thanks for the inspirations
I was curious what the Tidal bell was for and i found this information ..Time and Tide Bell is an art project made up of bells, designed by UK sculptor Marcus Vergette and Australian bell designer Neil McLachlan,[1] installed at coastal locations in the UK. The first one was placed at Appledore, Devon, in 2009 and the seventh at Mablethorpe, Lincolnshire in June 2019. As of 2021 at least six further bells are planned,[2] and funding obtained from the National Lottery Heritage Fund in 2018 will allow for up to sixteen bells in all to be installed.[3] Each bell rings around high tide; the bells provide a reminder that rising sea levels caused by climate change will make the pattern of their ringing change. There is every chance that some of the bells will have to be relocated in the twenty-first century.
8min 30sec, still can't believe the 5dmk4 has no flippy screen when my little 200d does. But what's good is they must be a great camera if you haven't made the jump to mirrorless, I was looking at the 5dmk4 but it's that no flippy screen that's turning me towards the 6dmk2 instead.
Canon Pro Cameras don't have flippy screens. Or they didn't until mirrorless came along. When a mirrorless camera captures better pictures than my mirrored cameras, I'll make the change.
One of your best vlogs!!!
Thanks Walter 👍👍

Kind of you to say, thank you 👍👍
WOW 😮😮😮I love seascapes...thanks for renewing my interest in the everyday scenarios...
Cheers 👍👍
The two rams were the highlight for me but that drone footage at the beginning was a belter.
Cheers Gavin. You can't believe how excited I was when I captured the rams. I even told the wife I had a belter to print for the house. Strangely, she didn't share my passion though 😁😁
You’ve got the touch! I think you could get great images in a cave with no light. Thanks for taking me along!
Cheers Randy 👍👍
You are in a class by yourself. Great video and incredible photographs! Thanks for taking us along.

Shouldn't be too difficult 👍👍
One of my favourite places. The wife went for a swim September 21 when we were there. Always wondered what the bell was for. It was under the water when we were there.
It must have been freezing. I'm guessing you didn't pluck up the courage to swim too? 😁😁
Cheers John 👍👍
No Gary. She’s the crazy one 😂
Wow, you never disappoint, such skill you have.
Beautiful Location Gary, loved you opening Quote, I've written that done to put on the wall and remind me to get out and get the shot no matter the conditions. really enjoyed the way you went about capturing the tide bell. Great images as always and thanks for sharing.

Great images as always Gary, thought you said last week your giving away a tripod
I have to wait 2 weeks. The Tripod company asked me to wait, sorry. I did say it in the video. I still have it so don't panic 😁
Great shots. I reckon you have taken that Tide Bell :)
How do you know I didn't steal it? 😁😁
You couldn't fail to get an image there mind. Some classic Gary Gough images there 👌

I have to say that all the photos you've shown in this video have been amazing, even more than they normally are!
Cheers Graham xx
I believe that Nigel Danson did an entire month series in one of the beaches that you showed. However, I appreciate the differences in style.
I didn’t visit the same beach
@@GaryGough my bad... one of the perspectives with distant mountains had a look-a-like view. Regardless, gorgeous seascapes and colors.

Wow its pointless saying anything about this episode! It speaks for itself! Did you take that bell home for a garden feature?....
Couldn't get it in the van 😁😁
I must admit to preferring a cliff-hanger to click-bait!
