Yep I did! But not enough people do. Lewis and Harris are absolutely stunning - as is the rest of the Highlands. Do go back to explore the mainland, you'll love Assynt!

Yes Scotland is magnificent breathtaking, enthralling, beautiful, romantic, rugged and secluded as the sandiest beaches to be found in the whole wide world, Scotland would always be my final destination and my first
Scotland 's beaches must be the world's best. We went to Reef or is it Roef beach? on Lewis and the sea was brilliant turquoise and the sand was like delicate pale pink icing - sugar due to minute pink shells like babies' fingernails. We were very lucky too ; the sun was out and the sand was hot! What a place.......
Hey I just KNEW you guys would be blown away by the Hebrides! All of the far north of the Scottish highlands and islands has an aura of magic and mystery about it. Glad you encountered peat - I stayed in a cottage in the west of Ireland and we burned peat (or sods as they call them) fires while we were there. Peat has another ace up its sleeve - the impact it has on the taste of whisky. Scottish Island whiskies have a fabulous smoky flavour because of the source water filtering through the peat. Next level!!
I'm an Irish girl who loves Scotland. It holds a place in my heart ❤ something so magical about it, culturally and spiritually🏴 great people too. Looking forward to visiting again ❤
Another tour of yours that I need to check out. I’m mostly of African descent, but my great grandfather was Scottish and Irish. I’ve already been to Ireland twice, but I’d love to go to this part of Scotland. Possibly after my trip to West Africa. When I was in Ireland, I experienced a peat fire and a fire with charcoal. Unlike California, were I live, there’s not much wood to burn. Most cold countries had animals in some part of the living space. More bodies, more heat. Plus, a good way to keep them safe. Ooo, gin! 😋
One of my best trips ever was the trip by car to Lewis in the winter of 2000, the drive trough the highlands in the snow and the beautiful ferry ride.. Man, I want to do that again..
This brought a nostalgic tear to my eye. We used to go on so many family holidays to Lewis - with regular trips down to Harris. As kids we could play on beaches that we almost had to ourselves or sometimes DID have to ourselves. Guess, what. I remember a number of years going from Ullapool to Stornaway on a ferry called the Suilven then it was sold, went to New Zealand and ended up ferrying between North Island and South Island!
I’m from Edinburgh ...and looking at what time you published this video I was there 2 days after in a motorhome with my family and i loved it. started at Barra then went to Lewis and Harris and went to the standing stones and the old piete houses. then traveled back to mainland and traveled through Inverness and aviemore. absolutely amazing.

My parents (lowlands) still have a coal fire and burn coal, but every Christmas and Hogmanay, they burn peat. The smell is so awesome. One of my pleasures of the festive season. Love your video.
I totally agree about Scotland being beautiful! We had the pleasure to visit Loch Ness a couple of years ago and we absolutely loved it definitely a place I would recommend - sadly didn't get to meet Nessie though 😂
Oh we're so sorry to hear that! Lewis & Harris was absolutely incredible - an amazing place to call home. We're sending you all the good vibes and hope things get better soon.
I just did a Rabbies tour of Mull Iona and Staffa.I had a wonderful trip! In Oban make sure to get the hot mussels by the ferry dock.Cost less than 4 pounds Sterling and so delicious!
This vlog got better and better as you ventured on. You absolutely captured it! I have been to Scotland at least eight times but never this far north. Where you were was much like the other areas I have been but uniquely different. I have primarily visited the areas south and west of Glasgow with a little time just north and west of Edinburgh. Much like what you showed us but had never experienced the beautiful beaches. What I love about Scotland is the rustic lay of the land with its magnificent hills, valleys and gentle rolling terrain. What a great place to truly enjoy the outdoors and you presented a beautiful view of it. Well done and look forward to experiencing the rest of your trip.

Hi guys! Late to the party but this just popped up in my recommendations. 7m30s if you look at the map you'll see Balallan right in the centre. I was brought up in London but that's where my Dad is from and every May he'd drive all the family up there from London for 6 weeks and we'd stay with our Granny in the childhood home. The cutting of peat is still done to this day and I can still see him in my mind's eye in the peat bogs, cutting the turf and stacking it to dry. It's a remote yet beautiful and magical place but as you can imagine a harsh place in the winter. Thanks for the vlog- it brought back many happy memories :-)
I'm Scottish and love the beaches on Lewis and Harris. Haven't been since 2015 but just saw a friend's holiday photos from Harris today and now this video. I need to go back 😄
Went thrre 2 years ago. Loved it. But boy can it get windu there! But we walked the same beach on a sunny day and had it virtually to ourselves - amazing feeling, Brought back a load of good memories...thanks
Many thanks for the blog you showed of Harris and Lewis, it took me back to the time we hired a cottage for a week in Harris way back in the early 90s, when the locals would walk miles to their local church, which was miles away for some! As a proud Scotsman I have travelled all over Scotland! I live on the main land, but still keep having a holiday up north or on the islands! You would be amazed how many Scots that live on the main land who have not set foot up north, let alone the islands! My wife and kids did the 500 way back in the 80s before it became famous! It is only now after the world population have been watching the press and all those harry potter films etc! My worry now is - with the climate becoming warmer, more will flock to our shores and ruin it's character! I am now a pensioner, but I have a place up north I go to 2/3 times a year, just to be alone in the hills and glens! Scotland has so much history in which other countries can't match! So respect should be given at all times! You should visit Skye - So much to see there -Check it out first before setting off as you don't want to miss a thing! Scotland has the best Whisky/Gin in the world - As we have the best water! Haste ye back!
Love the way you go to different places😍..we still use peat (or turf as it's known here in Ireland) on our fires and the turf is cut on a field called a bog!
i did a tour with rabbies and helen was my tour guide, one of the funnest people i’ve met. i’ve been to the exact same beach from the first shot, took a swim in the ocean. it was so cold but one of my favorite experiences
I`ve flown from Glasgow Airport up to Stornoway a couple of times, taken a taxi into the bus station and got on a local coach journey down to Tarbet on the Isle of Harris. If, you`ve not smelt the smoke from a peat fire, you`re missing out. I have a friend who used to live in the village of Northton, not too far from Leverburgh, Harris in a cottage who was given the option of upgrading to all electric or, having a peat fire installed, he took the latter. He used to cut and dry his own fuel and this lasted him a whole year. I`ve not been up there in nearly 20 years so, i`ll need to make an effort to go back again. One of my friends likes to holiday on the Isle of Skye when he can. The beaches up there are crystal clear with Dolphins swimming just off the shoreline.
i swear outlander did more for scottish tourism than anything ever before. it's bc of them i want to visit there and it's at place no 10 on my euro list.
Amazing, guys, and yes their gin for me is exceptional...one of the most sophisticated (yet with all natural ingredients) around. Landscapes are breathtaking, so thanks for sharing (a whisky writer & artist from France) !
@@DaneAndStacey I do, I have an interest for quality spirits even if whisky comes first...Cheers & I will continue to have a look on your journey reports when I can as there is a lot of content to see & brighten our days...Take care
I'm always impressed with the ideas for places you go keep it up man! I always forget how nice Scotland is and its so close I might have to check this island out. I haven't been able to comment for a while as I've done a little travelling of my own in Sicily but glad I've caught up with all your recent vids!
Scotland has some beautiful scenery and coastal area's, I always try to visit in July or August, as it can get nippy..just have a waterproof jacket handy😀
@@DaneAndStacey Thank you, I am a coach tour driver and have done this tour several times and I have absolutely loved it. Your video takes me back to this incredible island, just a superb memory for me...John
Harris has got to be one of the nicest places in the World! Lewis isn't really one of the wettest places in the UK however, with about 1200mm of rain annually. Places like Dartmoor and the Lake district have over 2000mm annually, and even Oban on the West coast of Scotland has in excess of 1600mm. Also, Lewis isn't quite the windiest place in the UK, being surpassed by Orkney and Shetland! Lovely video!
Great video. Thanks so. We are planning our first visit for 12 days. Trying to come up with a plan as where to start and where to see. Thanks so much your info and experiences are helpful.. First time doing this type of trip
You're going to love it! Definitely consider Rabbies as an amazing way to see everything in Lewis and Harris in a short 3 days and give you time to explore the rest of the country by yourself
Glad to see a lot of ads in here, but most of all glad to see both of you. Thanks for always sharing fantastic, well-edited, great cinematic videos. Always worth the wait. Your avid fan from the PH wandering around Southeast Asia ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great video but I was surprised at how surprised you were with Scotland's beauty! I thought it was well-known that we had a beautiful, if rainy and cold, country? I'm glad you had a great time!
A few Scottish comments about the same - it's really not publicised in New Zealand at all, maybe more of a European thing? We got loads of messages and comments from our US followers as well in awe of the beauty.
aww nice video guys. I grew up in the highlands till I was 14. This video brought back lots of fond memories playing at the beach and camping in the fields with friends :)

Oh Isle of Harris gin. A fine drink! Until a few months ago ( the wee shop in Glasgow shut) you could get it send down with the fishing boats bringing seafood to Glasgow.
Great vlog! I'm leaving next week to Scotland, London and Dublin... looks like a need to package some warmer clothes for the Highlands and Isle of skye area
Loved visiting this Island. The weather was perfect while we were there. I want to go back and explore some more. Your videos let me do it from home. Maybe, next year?
That's a nice vlog! I've camped at that headland next to Luskentyre several times and walked up that hill above it. Fantastic place! The last time I camped out there I got a lift from Tarbert whilst walking the road, the guy who picked me up took me up to Luskentyre and all we could see was this massive storm approaching, he was asking if I was sure I wanted to get out there and I said Yes Please!
No Skye on this trip - wanted to show something else that was beautiful and a bit more underrated. Apparently Skye is in a bit of trouble from over tourism sadly. Denmark is on the list - heard amazing things lately.
You two should really come visit the coast of the State of Oregon in the USA. This is so incredibly similar, the ocean, the beaches, the cliffs, the wild beauty and green everywhere. Start at the border of Washington, drive highway 101, all the way down the coast of Oregon, until you reach the giant Redwoods of northern California. If you find Scotland beautiful, you'll enjoy the Oregon coast too.
You make a wonderful couple . Finishing each other's sentences etc . Stace is very witty too . Keep up the great work guys . Hope you visited Liverppol when in the uk . I'm sure you have . If not . Then you should 😆
thank you for coming to Scotland. we normally go somewhere in Asia on our holidays but due to corona virus we can't get travelling this year. so instead we've spent this year travelling in our home country of Scotland with help from your videos and we have absolutely loved it! And to make it even better, our dog can come too!❤️
Glad to hear that guys - sometimes you do have to look at your own country as a tourist and get out there, glad you could also and take the doggo along!
That’s for visiting our island!! When your coming back, hit me up. I’m a local chef/ tour pilot, and we can give you a hell of a tour and true local experience!!!!
No offence but Glasgow and it's surrounding area is the worst part of Scotland and is actually a shame on Scotland. What would you show them? The dirty streets full of tramps? The hospitals full of stab victims? Or maybe the many pubs seething with religious hatred and sectarianism? Or you could show them the area that has to have blue traffic lights instead of green because the green ones kept getting smashed, that'd be interesting for them eh?
@@grantmclean4744 What a sad reflection of someone with no concept of the true Glasgow. Glasgow has a lot to offer. Fantastic world class museums, brilliant food, amazing parks, close proximity to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, great shopping, beautiful architecture and fascinating history. Your comments are crass and outdated. Glasgow has moved on leaps and bounds over the last 50 years and is now as interesting a place as any in Scotland to visit. I'd happily show you some of these things if you ever care to actually visit.
@@scottmcmurray3233 I have visited Glasgow loads of times. You are saying Glasgow has a museum? That is all you have? A museum and some nice buildings? I have to disagree with you there as it may have one or two nice buildings but the overall feel of Glasgow is not a city of great architecture like say Vienna or Rome but more like what it is, a scummy city where people will slash you for wearing the wrong football top. Don't try and claim loch lomond, an undeniably beautiful place but it as absolutely nothing to do with Glasgow apart from being unfortunate enough to be in close proximity to it. The well known worst thing about Loch lomond is actually all the weegie neds visiting there, leaving a mess and causing a disturbance and generally being as big an embarrassment to Glasgow as Glasgow is to Scotland. You are most likely the same as most other weegies and have never actually visited the rest of Scotland so actually have not much of a clue how shit your little corner of the country is in comparison to the rest of it.
@@grantmclean4744 Never heard such nonsense. Glasgow has one of the highest number of Victorian buildings of any city in the UK. The city centre and West End are vibrant. The city is safe and there is plenty to see. Seems that you managed to visit without being slashed as you claim. Your idea of Glasgow is seriously outdated. Yes Glasgow is different from the rest of Scotland but that's like that Manchester or Bristol or London are similar to the countryside in England. There is a reason that Lonely Planet and many others rate Glasgow as one of the top places to visit in Europe. Time Out in 2019 rated it as the 8th best city to visit in the world. Your view is wholly inaccurate.
Thanks for visiting my country and for the time you both put into these videos. I live in the states now but try to get back as often as one can. Lewis is next on my home trip in July Fingers crossed LOL

I love the bus driver's accent, so nice to listen to
Helens voice was such a treat to listen to!
Love the way you go to different places😍..we still use peat (or turf as it's known here in Ireland) on our fires and the turf is cut on a field called a bog!
How interesting, didn't see it at all in our time in Northern Ireland - but probably wasn't so much aware of what it was at that stage!
i did a tour with rabbies and helen was my tour guide, one of the funnest people i’ve met. i’ve been to the exact same beach from the first shot, took a swim in the ocean. it was so cold but one of my favorite experiences
That's so cool! Helen was a legend... but you might be more of a legend if you went swimming in those cold waters! Wow
A Butte is a lone hill or cliff with steep edges
My great great grandparents were born in a black house
Thanks for confirming!
And i thought it was because they all had big erses.

Great to see you enjoying our land, safe travels guys!
Thanks for taking us to such an interesting place...also you have done a great job editing this video for info and pretty sites.
Appreciate that, thank you Patricia!
Keep traveling legends! So glad yous enjoyed the homeland as much as yous did! Everyone and anyone is welcome to our drear shores!
Brilliant loved it thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it (Sorry for the delay, we've been exploring South America! )
Welcome to Scotland, guys! Looks like you had a great time, we are lucky enough to call this beautiful place home!
I did this exact trip last June. Would love to have more time there. Luskentyre was the most beautiful beach I’ve ever seen.
Glad you've also taken the trip Christine! Luskentyre is the stuff of dreams
Looks like Stacey went "through the Stones". Did she come out in a different century? Lol. I love Scotland. Thanks for sharing.
i swear outlander did more for scottish tourism than anything ever before. it's bc of them i want to visit there and it's at place no 10 on my euro list.
Hahaha thankfully not! Shes not allowed to go off by herself in a different century
Amazing, guys, and yes their gin for me is exceptional...one of the most sophisticated (yet with all natural ingredients) around. Landscapes are breathtaking, so thanks for sharing (a whisky writer & artist from France) !
As a whiskey man if you can appreciate the gin and it's quality, we'll trust you! Thanks for watching and dropping a comment
Hope work and the travel has been going well though! Glad you're catching up. Yeah man, Scotland is crazy beautiful
Like how enthused you are about the stones looking forward to watching it
Colleen - coming in a few days!
Scotland has some beautiful scenery and coastal area's, I always try to visit in July or August, as it can get nippy..just have a waterproof jacket handy😀
Wonderful video, you captured the beauty of the islands that I have come to love over the last few years. Thank you...John
Thats so amazing to hear, thanks John
Thanks so much - glad you enjoyed!
Thanks again our PH wanderer!
"These very emotional looking fringes." LOL, I adore you Stacey. The coos were also a high priority for me in Scotland.
I've been thinking about this place and now you guys are there.
You get to think about it, view it and travel it with us!
well done folks, love people coming over !
We loved it, thanks
Great video but I was surprised at how surprised you were with Scotland's beauty! I thought it was well-known that we had a beautiful, if rainy and cold, country? I'm glad you had a great time!
A few Scottish comments about the same - it's really not publicised in New Zealand at all, maybe more of a European thing? We got loads of messages and comments from our US followers as well in awe of the beauty.
aww nice video guys. I grew up in the highlands till I was 14. This video brought back lots of fond memories playing at the beach and camping in the fields with friends :)
Love that RUclips allows us to connect over something like that, nice memories!
"It looks like New Zealand, it's incredible" yes! It's incredible! And New Zealand is incredible! And we're all from New Zealand and you guys are so cool and I love the videos!!! 😂
It was like we teleported straight back to NZ!
Ever wonder why so many Scots are in Kiwi ?
You should try Dumfries and Galloway too. A part of Scotland that’s often missed out. Xx
Thanks for the suggestion!
Daneger and Stacey it’s gorgeous and on the Gulf Stream so not as cold and wet 😀 xx
@@salmetal01 love the dumfries and Galloway area. I'm from Fife and have been down for a few days with my missus and kids a couple of times over the last few years. Beautiful part of the country, and plenty of parks that keep the kids occupied.
@@salmetal01 The Gulf stream extends way up north [ as I'm sure you know]. When I lived in Scotland I used to visit Plockton [ as far north as Skye], which apart from being impossibly beautiful, has palm trees.
What an adorable couple and what a beautiful video I loved it and am now a subscriber great job and I want to see more of your adventures. Chris Birmingham UK
Thanks for subbing, Chris! We appreciate it
I think it's beautiful.my parents used to go ,on holidays by their self's driving round seeing the sights ..
We had no idea Scotland had beaches that rival the Caribbean - so stunning!
My summers were spent at my grans at luskentyre No 10. Use love playing on the beach, the dunes and fishing in the three lochs up the hill past the old school.
Then for being naughty I’d get sent to my other grans in lower Barvas in Lewis 😂
Need to take my kids up to see the island and family!
Haha bet you got sent to lower Barvas a few times then! 🤣
Daneger and Stacey yes every year!! 🤣🤣🤣
great camera work and you are a charming couple.
Too kind, thanks!
Hey guys I'm a scot I live in Aberdeen our third biggest city just came across your channel and I'm hooked thank you so much for your opinions on my country and I look forward to your new content!! J
Hey Jordan 🤙🏼 Loved Scotland - actually just came back and filmed a few more videos in Edinburgh and Perthshire, they'll be out in a few weeks
Daneger and Stacey Edinburgh is my favourite city on earth, if you have the chance you should check out the west highland way, Loch Lomond, and glencoe... it's beauty is other worldly!! I look forward to the new content.. J
Another fantastic vlog. Also nice quality video.
Thanks for noticing 🤙🏼
Iceland and Norway only? Don't forget ,the "Butt of Lewis" is also close to the Faroe Islands (250 miles).
Good point!
Thanks! We had amazing sunny weather, but just not warm by our standards with the wind. Hope you love it!
I love watching your vlogs! I did the Iona, Mull, and Isle of Skye tour with Rabbie's a few years ago- it was amazing!
😍Jealous!! We wanna do that!
Brilliant video guys. I’m off to Harris for the first time next week and I CANNOT WAIT! ❤
Have fun! It's bloody epic
Loved visiting this Island. The weather was perfect while we were there. I want to go back and explore some more. Your videos let me do it from home. Maybe, next year?
Fingers crossed for next year!
That's a nice vlog! I've camped at that headland next to Luskentyre several times and walked up that hill above it. Fantastic place! The last time I camped out there I got a lift from Tarbert whilst walking the road, the guy who picked me up took me up to Luskentyre and all we could see was this massive storm approaching, he was asking if I was sure I wanted to get out there and I said Yes Please!
magical scotland so lucky to be born here.
Why lucky? It’s not hard any more. People can just come across on a dinghy now and get given a house by our stupid government.
Are you going to Isle of Skye? It's absolutely stunning!
And when are you coming to Denmark?
That’s actually not the first time Oregon coast has been recommended as similar - we Googled it last time and loved what we saw!
I love ❤️ Scotland 🏴
Thanks
I did not Gad the chance to go there
Is like so many places to see
There
Thanks 🙏
Stunning! Now I want to visit
Glad we can share
I was born on Harris but never been back. Was adopted and live in mainland Scotland.
Need to go soon
You'll love it when you do!
Scotland,is basically, the "New Zealand" of the Northen Hemisphere!
Definitely felt like home a lot of the time!
@@DaneAndStaceyThat's why the Scots settled in the Otago region and created Dunedin, because it physically looked like home! Great video folks!

thank you for coming to Scotland.
we normally go somewhere in Asia on our holidays but due to corona virus we can't get travelling this year.
so instead we've spent this year travelling in our home country of Scotland with help from your videos and we have absolutely loved it!
Sounds fun to us! Thanks mate
Beautiful, informative video. And such likeable presenters.
Welcome to Scotland guys! If you're in Glasgow any time I'm happy to show you guys round.
@@scottmcmurray3233 really? You honestly think that my view is wholly inaccurate? Wholly?
