I've been saving this due to life happening which meant I couldn't watch it when it dropped. You know the pallete that you work with in your compositions and then processing of the images is so unique. But the pallete that results is so unique and true to the eye. My favourite are the last two. The leading lines of the rocks leading out to the sea and the polarising of the rock pool to give depth and even more interest in that space between the leading lines was magical. The last photo where just the right amount of shutter speed allowed the reflected light to cause the wet rock face to glow. Even when you can't find the light you forsee it in collective exposure. And all that you have shared with us over the years, more than anyone else, allows us to unlock and decode images to read the story and work that went into them. Adam you are so inspirational and your humility brings us along with the joy of it. Thank you for sharing your story Adam.
The dynamic closing shot of sea cliffs in black and white epitomizes the phrase “last but not least.” Bravo. And the opening aerial shot is one of the most effective uses of drone photography I can recall having seen. 👍👍
Thanks for the video Adam. Looks like a great place for photography. I think the best ones from this day where your first one with the beach detail and the one of the distant islands (?) with the rocks in the foreground (8 min mark). I think it was a very well balanced shot, more interesting than the previous one (but that’s me anyway).
I have been to Harris many times and recognise all your locations, its great to see what compositions you made and you got some cracking photos, looking forwards to the next installment of your journey.
Beautiful photos as always. You have an eye for unique compositions, and I love that you see the beauty where others don't visualise it. Very inspirational!
Love the seal watching you in the first clip (pops up left of centre) ! Great images as usual. Looking forward to being there in February. Happy New Year !
Great place for photography indeed. I remember seeing the Norther lights on Lewis back in August a few years ago... I was not expecting that all. Harris seemed to more rugged but Lewis part was more challenging for me so maybe this is for that reason that I loved it even more :)
Loved the cliff/sea shot at 11:47, and also the very simple, long focal length shots of distant islands dipping down to the sea with the two large rocks in the foreground. Great stuff!
Beautiful places, of a particular beauty, I would say intimate and minimalist. The songs chosen for the background are perfect, I would spend hours watching landscapes like at 8:44. Photos as always at the top !!! Happy New Year !!!
So many images to love. The last one with the dark rocks and the dreamy sea; the subtle colours in the shot at 8.20ish; the abstract with the black and beige sand meandering around the rocks.❤️📷
Oh and the composite image as well. No it's not cheating 😉😁 I've done similar things with my photography eg I've taken a foreground shot at dusk and the Milky way an hour or two later and combined the two... Mostly because I'm not very good at light painting. Composites are only cheating on documentary/journalistic photography IMO where the integrity of the scene is paramount.
Fabulous image with the cobbles of Lewisian gneiss! FYI the black grains are iron titanium oxides most likely dominated by magnetite that are indeed denser than quartz and feldspar grains of most of the sand. Gives me fond memories of a geology field trip to Scotland with students back in the early Nineties when we spent a few days on Lewis and Harris. Hoping to get back for some photography in my upcoming retirement.
@@QuietLightPhoto thanks Adam! Yes it has been long time! I have been enjoying your RUclips videos for a while. You are doing great work! We should try and connect in the next year or so when I have more travel flexibility in my upcoming retirement.
Interesting. The ""black" sand looks suspiciously like tar stained sand found time to time here on beaches in the US. It takes a long time to make sand and I would have expected true black sand to be found in larger deposits or mixed more uniformly with lighter sands rather than streaked.
Thank You for a lot of good inspiration. What a stunning location. Your theory on the sand is correct. The tan sand is lighter and the dark a little bit heavier. The streaming water is sorting the grains. Greetings from a danish geologist and photoenthusiast.
Another great video! Some definite keepers in that lot. The water scenes are breathtaking. I like that you are using the Kase filters, I've been using them now for six months and absolutely love them.
As long as two (or three) photo’s ar shot in one photoshoot it’s no cheating to me. Hahaha. The boulderphoto’s and the layer photo’s ar great. I love them. Good vlog Adam thnx.
Again this is very inspiring watching you approaching sceneries and what comes out in the end! I often have problems finding compositions when there are so many possibilities. One thing I should do: taking more time to get different light situations. Thanks for the video!
Hi, I loved the third image of the spit of land with the hills behind. The abstract simplicity of the image was beautiful, an image I would hang on my wall.
I really admire the way you compose a scene. It’s amazing how you are able to see those beautiful patterns and create these artistic images. I liked the pastel-y scene captured in 7:30 the most.
Hi there. As you say the scenery on Harris is stunning and your images really do it justice. Loved the video. Appreciate all the information you put into your videos.👍😀
LOVE the simple pastel landscape around 7:37 with the muted sky and background and just enough color on the hill and the almost green water. I stared at this for awhile. Also reminds me of a Thomas Heaton photo he did recently in the rain on film. You guys really do create magic. Nice work!
I am surprised that you admit that you didn't bring your camera. Tut Tut lad. Great video. Iam not sure of your time line but if this is fairly true to the beginning of the year you've missed some eventful occurances in B.C. and to a leaser degree in Alberta. Exceptional rains in B C. to say the least and right now kind of cold here in Alberta Minus 37 to 40 degrees for a while, a real western winter. Give me a gentle rain. Anyways a great series of videos as always. Happy New Year all.
Wow! Wow! Wow! What a superb video - wanted it to go on for ever! Thanks so much. I love the Outer Hebrides and you have really done the area justice. Especially loved the opening drone footage. Also loved the Raw/Final versions. But Adam - you came all the way from Canada, went to the Quiraing on Skye and didn't take your camera!! Better come back next year!
Thank you Adam for all the beautiful photographs and for sharing your thought process. Always inspiring. A question, do you have any idea which lens you use the most?
Beautiful abstraction with the rocks at 4:30ish.... I really love the left side of the frame introduced at about 7:08 but I think I would have just shot foreground rocks and the sandy delta portion as another intimate landscape/abstraction... Thank You
I really appreciate seeing the info and the RAW vs processed versions
Sometime others should do as well! It's really informative to see what is done to the photograph
@@EvilNeedle90 Agreed. Most informative to see the results of post processing.
Great photos Mr.Gibbs. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
7:50 so glad you got that shot of the simple layers of the coast. Spotted it straight away very much my cuppa tea. Great job ☺️☺️☺️
What a beautiful place to photograph.
Stunning. I love it that you show the RAW files together with your edited image. Thanks!
My pleasure!
I love the way you edit files. Very light touch, subtle processing. Sometimes almost imperceptible.
Minimal and maximal, love it! 👍🍾🥂
Glad you like it!
What comes across is how much you enjoyed the time on Harris: the images speak volumes. I enjoyed them too!
Adam, wonderful images and video 😍👌👌👌.
Stunning. Your perception of the subtleties of the landscape continue to inspire. Well done.
Many thanks!
Wonderful shots 📷👌

Really beautiful images in this video, Adam
Oh my Adam, that final shot !!!! Perfection !
Beautiful shots as always.

Very nice work.
I do hope when you were finished taking those beautiful photographs that you bought a bottle of Isle of Harris gin! Happy New Year.
Playing catch-up so apologies for my tardiness in watching this Adam! Love that last image at 11:50 the best.
Scotland has just endless beautiful landscapes. Happy new year and all the best.
Happy new year!

Really great to see you on here Steve! It's been a very long time. I knew your ears would burn when anything to do with geology cropped up, lol.

FANTASTIC images Adam! Another great out of the way place to visit from Australia! LOL!

I love your long exposures of the rising tide. Very ethereal!
Thank you very much!
Super images Adam, I absolutely love Harris. If could only photograph one place that would be it.
Hi Adam some really beautiful images there great stuff again thanks.Tony
Amazing work and fabulous video, you saved the best photo till last :) Awesome!!!
Thank you very much!

Hi there. As you say the scenery on Harris is stunning and your images really do it justice. Loved the video. Appreciate all the information you put into your videos.👍😀
Here in PEI we have similar markings in the sand on some beaches, I’ve been told it is iron.

Lovely images there buddy you had better weather on the island than we had the whole week before lol 😂 cheers mate 😀✌️
nah!
Thank you Adam for your coupon code. I used it on the Shimoda Explore v2 35, next is the beautiful trips to Scotland ;-)
Good choice!
Very nice. I love the image at 8:00 that the relationship (front/back and left/right) in the foreground rocks is repeated in the background mountains.
Great stuff, Adam. I hope you get a chance to photograph the incredibly beautiful Glencoe and the often-overlooked pink sand beach at Betty Hill..
Great vlog and pictures Adam will look forward to next one
Again an inspiring video, thanks!
I really like the last b&w composition, the beach details and the compressed views around 7:30.
WOW! Amazing minimalistic images and the ones at the end were spectacular!
Thank you very much!
Beautiful set of images Adam. Really like the soft colours. Very calming and soothing.

Thank you Adam for all the beautiful photographs and for sharing your thought process. Always inspiring. A question, do you have any idea which lens you use the most?
yes, the Fuji GF 32-64mm
Really enjoyed that Adam, Happy New Year and Slanje from Scotland
