Poke Recipe | Ahi Poke with Seaweed (Limu)

  • Sharing with you my Ahi (Tuna) Limu (Seaweed) Poke recipe. It's a standard item at all of our parties and doesn't cost more than $10/pound.
    Ingredients
    • 1 pound of Ahi Tuna cut into cubes
    • Hawaiian salt to taste - approximately ½ TBSP
    • Red chili pepper flakes
    • Limu (Seaweed)
    • Diced red onions
    • Ground toasted white sesame seeds
    • Ground toasted black sesame seeds
    • Dash of soy sauce
    • Dab of oyster sauce
    • Chopped green onions
    Directions
    1. If using frozen Ahi, be sure to defrost thoroughly and pat dry with paper towel
    2. Add Hawaiian salt, stir and let sit for 15-20 minutes
    3. Add remaining ingredients
    4. Mix
    5. Enjoy

    Looks da kine. I make it very similar except have never put Oyster sauce (one of my favorite things) in it. I like mine a little more moist so I use Soy sauce and do add a dab of Sesame Oil. Limu is my favorite when I am in Hawaii.

      check your local Asian store's frozen section for seaweed. The HMart in our area has salted seaweed for salads that is close to ogo.

    i’m gonna try this out bro. you think frozen ahi from walmart is good? runs about $6.50 lb

      I have not tried the frozen ahi at Walmart, but I use frozen ahi cubes from the US Foods Chef's Store (previously cash & carry). For the price point I would try it out. Key with the frozen cubes is to defrost then remove as much of the moisture before starting to add other ingredients.

      HMart in Lynnwood WA. Found frozen salted seaweed. Rinsed and drained - good to go.

    WISH YOU HAD A WOODEN SPOON. I HAD TO PUT THE VIDEO ON MUTE BECAUSE ALL THE TOSSING YOU DID WITH THE METAL SPOON HITTING THE MEAL BOWL ---I COULD NOT FINISH THE VIDEO.
