    What most people call “against the wall”?

  • @ScottAT
    @ScottAT 3 года назад

    People confuse the “set point” with creep because they do not understand the relationship of the trigger bow to the sear (leaf) spring. Personally I could care less as long as the trigger is crisp and consistent. The whole reason why we have moved to aluminum triggers is to prevent Trigger bounce.
    If you recall the Colt Gold Cup series 80 Enhanced pistols ONLY have that tiny spring inside the sear and the 2 part wrap around contraption mating up to it just to prevent trigger bounce on those Gold Cups (that make building up the frame into a 3 hour job) because the wide steel trigger is so massively heavy in weight it could cause an AD on less experienced shooters, so Colt’s answer at the time was to throw in MOAR GIMMICKY CONTRAPTIONS. This is no joke, look it up. Thank God it was for that series only. It went the way of the Collet Bushing.
    Anyone recall that?

      Good info, and you are right on track! Yes, I do see those Crappy collet bushing on rebuilds going through the shop. I usually suggest throwing them in the trash and replacing the bushing.... I have seen many with broken and they are always fit extremely bad to the slide. You are right on when you say"Gimmicky". Thank you for your great comments... it is super information to share.

      @@fusionfirearms Have you ever been inside a series 80 Gold cup with the 4 extra parts to prevent trigger bounce? They take 4 extra hours to properly reinstall, and that’s with taking time making special tools to get them to work.

    Bob you had said that you want zero take up on the trigger before coming in contact with disconnect /sear spring when cocked. If I heard you correctly you. Is there different specs for a series80 as far as take up on trigger ? I ask because I have a series80 and I had read somewhere that specs to the effect that there should be .030 of free play / take up in trigger take up before coming in contact of disconnect /sear spring .

    • @fusionfirearms
      @fusionfirearms  3 года назад +1

      Yes, most of the 80 series issues are due to the linkage, for the firing pin stop. Most people have us throw these items out and convert back to a 70s with a filler plate on the sidewall. You should always have some take-up in the trigger, for all combat and general purpose 1911's. As for “free-play” of the trigger(meaning you have NO sear spring tension on the trigger at all for part of the travel), This is NO-good and will lead to disconnector and generally hammer fall issues due to lack of tension on the disconnector/sear and back of trigger bow. Good question… I will go over this more in a future video when we are doing through trigger installations.

    What about the re-set point?

    • @fusionfirearms
      @fusionfirearms  3 года назад

      Yes, that is generally forward and can be set with the adjustable wings on the trigger bow. Again, follow all safety checks after any adjustment
