  • The first time I tried to rebuild one of these I lost my mind and after over an hour of fighting the spring came up with a better way.

    Sweet!! Nice video!
I just love allkinda DIY stuff.
Never done anything on firearms myself cuz do not own even a license for one - but I do love to tinker, tune and modify my airguns. Made many diy tools and additional parts etc. Always interesting. Nice to have new challenges every now and then..

@Bror Jordas Tinkerers keep the world running as far as I’m concerned! Air guns are probably not much different than the real thing, I’ll see as soon as I build up the nerve to strip down that airsoft Shadow 2 of mine. And like you, I live for DIY, which is sometimes, depending on where you live, a neccessity because there’s no one else that can do it for you! Keep tinkering my friend!

Ahhhh!!!!! I just used a hammer, then a mallet, and just kept smashing it until it all went back together. Your method looks way less frustrating.

Any tips for the cz75 sp01 sear cage. I’ve lost hours on the 3 springs in it. Problem I have is that parts have to go in from the top and bottom. So hard to keep together.

@denniswilson8388 I’ve had the misfortune of accepting to take on repairs of two SP-01s. I didn’t learn the first time around. I refused the third. My suggestion is getting a hollow roll pin that just fits, so it keeps everything together long enough as a whole to get it situated back in the gun. Then you use the permanent roll pin to push it through. if I remember correctly anyways. Sorry can’t be of more help, I remember the first one took me hours to rebuild as well. I built a jig out of Jett Sett fixturing compound for the sear on the Shadow 2, but I just jam my index finger in the gap underneath and use the pad of the finger to support the spring. I still use a slave pin though and then push the permanent pin through. Work from the easy side to the harder side pushing the slave pin in as you progress. Hope this helps!

Dont get me wrong, its a good way. But I never got how people find this so difficult. I can do it in 10s using just a very small punch in a very similar way you present. I put the parts together, align holes beetween sear and cage, push small pin from one side. Place spring roughly in a right place and pull it in to its final place with the punch. Then push in a pin from the other side. Done.

@michall3918 For sure. First time is always tough for most folks, the more you do it, the easier it gets. Some people struggle because they don’t have the hand eye coordination, their digits are too big, a lot like having options particularly if they aren’t particularly coordinated. In my case I have a progressive neurological disease that makes my fingers literally feel like all thumbs or big toes, it’s pretty frustrating at the best of times. Also hella easier than all the other SP-01 iterations with their sears that completely fall to bits after the retaining pin is punched through the frame. The only other one that is similar to the 2 is the Combat 85.

@@CZFanGrrl oh you are doing great to work on these tiny mechanical parts inside guns with such a condition :) more power to you.

@michall3918 Thanks for saying! It’s good physiotherapy, if you don’t use it, you lose it, right? Cheers!😀

Rio Grande has Jett Basic and Jett Ballistic. Which do you recommend? Thanks.

@luisvcool1 I have the Basic. That’s all that was available when I ordered it a long time ago. The Basic works well, but no harm in going Ballistic!
