  • In a new series of six dramatic shorts, we travel back to the time of the last pandaren emperor, a golden age before the land was enveloped by mist. Ten thousand years ago in the ancient empire of Pandaria, Emperor Shaohao asked the Great Waterspeaker to peer into his future. What did the rippling waters foretell?

  • @rabidmeese7601

    The beauty in this is that the last Emperor didn't defeat all of the Sha's. He hadn't cleared himself of pride. It was pride that led him to shield Pandaria; thinking it was better then the rest of the world.

      @moscanaveia 11 месяцев назад +1

      I don't think that is shaohao's pride. His pride is that only his sacrifice could save his land and his people. "I am the heart of Pandaria" is his pride. a wonderful story that unlike most of warcraft lore is not bogged down in warfare and bloodshed. Not saying that is a bad thing, it is a world of warcraft after all, but this was so refreshing. a wonderful expac, the last gasp before the acquisition by activision and the slow descent into mediocrity

    • @moscanaveia

      War is a big part of the story in MoP, and also in the Burdens of Shaohao. The difference here is that the pandas choose to stay out of it, and that indeed is refreshing.

  • @ShadowTheHedgehogCZ

    21:00 - "The truest answers always came from... within."
    You know, despite Blizz repeatedly stated that MoP is not like Kung Fu Panda... the central theme pretty much is. And the twist of this story almost identical too. And in a good way.
    I am the Heart of Pandaria or I am the Dragon Warrior. The secrets the protagonist was looking for... lied within.
    It's true that it can be simply attributed to the fact that both of those stories are based on the same source material, the taoist legend. It is beautifully executed in both cases. I would say that on some level, it's better executed here, because we don't have tons of distracting jokes to go along with it.

      They're both chinese and they both have pandas that can fight as far as I'm concerned that's where the similarities end. Kung fu panda was a good movie but it didnt teach me about strength, wisdom, courage, fortitude and hope like MoP did. The strongest I've ever been mentally and spiritually was during MoP the shas of fear, doubt, anger, hatred, and pride weren't just bosses to be defeated in wow but inside myself aswell.

    Imagine what would've happened if he had realized that the heart of pandaria could've meant either the people or the literal heart. If he had given up his pride, Blizzard's writers might have found a way to make the heart a weapon against the initial invasion, or had realized the heart was all around him, the people. Of course that's guesswork and they might've meant something else as the heart.

      Donny Lurch through 10000 years, stories may change a little each time they are recalled, the essential part I think it is still there, shaohao may not have simply turned himself into mist but the journey he made to find the answers is there. The sacrifice he made to save his people is true, he used the staff of mists to save everyone giving up his life energy.

      Honestly ye, what Ionut Gherber said. Its a story changed through times, with many exaggerations such as the monkey king being blown away with the wind. So its not necessary that blizz retconned it. more over told another part of the story, may it be another version or an update to the previous story, because the lorewalkers found something to justify the change.

    • @Heeej235
      @Heeej235 4 года назад +2

      I dont really understand your question, but i´m gonna try my best to clearify what i meant. The whole MOP expansion was based on Eastern philosophy, and from my speculation it´s based on the the " Taoism Philosophy " specifically. After the emperor had conquered all of his insecurities, the last episode which was about the legion invading Pandaria. The people were terrified and the emperor noticed all the insecurities in the people that he previously had himself. In order to protect his people, he sacrifised himself to become one with the land, thus engulfing the land in mists. So what i meant by " Wu wei " and surrendering, was in this specific case him surrendering to his faith in order to achieve something which was protecting the land. So in Wu Wei they teach the art of doing nothing, and in essence he did nothing as opposed to try to teach the people about the lessons he had learned. Which would be a form of taking action. Hope this explains :)☯️
