Vol'jin was so loyal to the horde. He was such an awesome character and the best warchief ever. I miss him so much T.T
Márk Mikolay yeah definitely a great warchief, sure did accomplish a lot...
Jaime Ruiz haha true
He also isn't gone! I wont spoil anything, but you can still find him.... ;)
Nah he's a fucking simp that turned his back on trollkind.
Nah you better not disrespect Garrosh like that
Response has been amazing, thank you so much everybody makes the long hours worth it! I skimmed a bit over the events of the Cataclysm and beyond, but that's because it's a bit of a repeat of history and we were crunching for time. Next week I'll do the story of Prophet Zul and go further into those events. Have a great week!
Love your awesome videos man, always a pleasure seeing a new one pop up in the feed! Anything on the horizon on the Old gods/black empire?
Will you be making a Mogu focused lore video? If you do, I’ll give you cookies.
which faction did you enjoy levelling more on nobbel?
Trolls be flippin' out mon!
Honestly the best video about the trolls ive come across so far! thanks for this Nobbel
+Cegesh Incomplete? I think this could be a cool 10 minute long video then night time story for 30 mins.
Love how they have the Aztec/Mayan style, can’t wait BfA
Yeah it's nice to see some black culture in WoW.
They're without a doubt Inca, Amani were Aztec, Gurubashi were Mayans.
They're not black you oaf, they're amerindians.
Nah, that's bs. Lies made up out of jealousy, trying to hide the success of black people.
Either you're baiting (and failing to do so) or you should go back to school.
Nobbel: Mentions a "happy little tree"
Me: *Happy Bob Ross noises*
Really personally looking forward to rolling a Zandalari Druid once they come available!
Same
I hope you both are grinding your rep lol
I hear dat mon. I be lookin' forward to racin' across Azeroth as an avatar of da mighty Gonk.
did you do it?
Love the video! Trolls and Draenei are just my favourite races in WoW, so this was such a treat. I am curious if this will be a topic of discussion in BFA, if the various Troll tribes are facing some sort of population crises. The Amani have been beat down multiple times, the Gurubashi same thing honestly for the most part, the Drakkari having been pretty much screwed from the start with the Lich King and the Darkspear having dealt with the losses dealt by Zalazane, the the Naga Witch and finally Garrosh with the Siege of Orgimmar. I know it has not all been death for each of the tribes but so many were wiped out or scattered to the winds like the Shatterspear.
Nobbel...I swear...I adore your voice. How you tell stories especially is amazing. The rhythm, your tone, your volume. It's soothing, but helps keep the viewer engaged in the actual content. Great job as usual!
Great work! I know it took a while but I enjoyed it lots! Keep em comin!
Awesome stuff as always, mon!
Trolls have such a rich, detailed, and crazy history. Love this video thanks Nobbel!
I watch spoilers for lore reasons is cause I don't want to read all the text while I actually do all the quest in-game. Its a rush to max level and I don't want to be slow cause I'm a slow reader. So thanks for these videos Nobbel! It will make things easier for me later on!
This was an amazing telling of Zandalari history. Good job, my man! I thoroughly enjoyed it, and can't applaud you enough!
Ahh the video we've been waiting for
Dat Azshara in the thumbnail tho
*OLDGODISH THICC*
She wants the Zandala-D
Considering that her dress doesn't even cover her butt fully, I'd expect nothing less of her xD
Daily reminder that she almost doomed Azeroth for a chance to ride Sargeras' devil peen
Alexander Aramaki can you imagine that but with tentacles and sneek hair?
Lovely, another great lorevideo by the great lorewalker👌 in the fricking middle of the night! Once i see the email telling me of nobbels new releases, i cant ignore it xD
Why did Captain Bajin not go to the Ball? Because she had no body to go with. 3:12.
this comment is incredibly underrated
I was leveling my Nightborne mage in Kun- Lai Summit yesterday and played through the Thunder King story. After the Zandalari resurrect Lei Shen, you fight the high priest who says: " We need this land! The Cataclysm destroyed Zandalar!" My thought were: "No it didn't. Zandalar is still standing and I'm going there in the next expansion." Guess Prophet Zul's visions weren't entirely accurate.
Tyrande: Our empire was greater!
Rastakhan: Yet ours is still standin.... And we never fucked up on a planet wide scale...DID WE!? But I must ask....DO YOU KNOW DEA WEA!?
Tyrande: Elune dammit...
Well they did technically almost fucked up the planet when they resurrected Kith'ix
Delivery of the platinum chip is non-negotiable. They did a better job at cleaning up there mess thou.
fair enough.
You think you can make a video about the gilneane civil war?
God damn the trolls rule!
I covered that one in the story of Greymane ruclips.net/video/h_cLcot5kZk/видео.html
Nobbel87 oh right ok
Thanks for getting me up to speed, and furthering my hype.
I can't wait, I need to play one nowwww.
Fun fact: Jintha (from 16:23) has a city named after him in the Hinterlands, Jintha'Alor.
From a classic player. Fuck this place
An altar of Zul can also be found in the Hinterlands.
3:09 That chest though. So nice. So very very nice.
That bit of goblin lore had me laughin, great vid
Stumbled upon your video ... happily surprised. Loved this Thank you !!!!!!!!!’
Nobbel, can you do a video about all the known titan facilities on Azeroth? What's their purpose? Did they fail their purpose? How did we influence them? I vaguely know the answers for some of the constructs. Uldum was a prison, and a main base of operations for the keepers, where they could communicate to the rest of the cosmos through Algalon... There was the prison for Y'shraaj's heart, guarded by Norushen. Then there are a bunch of forges that created titan constructs, before their creations where afflicted with the curse of flesh. It would be very interesting to see a video on the grand picture of these- how they all intermingle.
Top next suggested video: Everything wrong with trolls by cinemasins XD Perfect placement!
I’ve seen a handful of people have a heavy dislike for the Druid forms but I think they’re pretty great! I’m glad to have found some people who enjoy them too.
"Where did they come from?" Where did they go? Where did they come from, Dino-Eye Zandalaro.
Man! I had no idea there was so much lore behind the Trolls
I love how that troll plans to report the goblin to HUMAN resources. XD
Nobbel. Was it ever explained exactly WHAT broke out of uldum?
During vanilla through Wrath, the gate leading to uldum had a big hole blown in it but I don't recall it ever being explained.
If memory serves, that was simply opened up because of the cataclysm/deathwing breaking out disrupting the spellwork.
If you look at the Uldum gate from vanilla to wotlk, you can see a huge hole in the gate.
Think that's what hes asking about. However i don't think blizzard ever explained what caused it tho!
I got a question for you, Nobbel. It's been at least 9 years, why has the Kirin Tor still not handled the flood in the Violet Hold?
Nice video on the Zandalari. However, I noticed at least one type of troll that you did not discuss: the Sand Trolls. Also known as the Farakki, founders of Zul'Farak. I wonder, what did they contribute to the trolls? Do you think other troll subspecies, such as the Dark Trolls, will become allied races? What of the different branch of elves? Do you think such elves such as true High Elves, or perhaps even DarkFallen might come out the shadows to fight? Perhaps Vrykul or Kobold, or Centaur? Could little bits of info on every minor race pop up to flesh out the worldbuilding of Azeroth?
I feel like kaja'mite is just led and the goblin's "intelligence" is just them becoming insane...
Great work Nobbel, love the vid
Great stuff, Nobbel!
Just found your videos. Great stuff.
Thx for the recap there.
I see Queen Azshara backing it up for the 99 and 2000 in the thumbnail and I’m clicking.
This videos have the taste of the real, old WoW, just love it!
I've wanted to play as this race since I was 16. I'm so stoked.
hahaha so you like a race of loosers good job noob hahahahahahaha
Makes me wonder why did they kill off Vol'Jin if the next expansion has troll lore. Wouldn't be more reasonable to keep Vol'Jin as warchief until the end of this expansion ?
Its been confirmed that Vol'jin will have a part to play in this expansion
That's good that he's coming back for this expansion, i just wished he wasn't killed off
Watching his death scene in the throne room, It seems to be implied that Vol'jin mightve gone on to become closely associated with the Loa in the afterlife rather than just die, and he'll act as something of a guiding spirit in the next expac. Not truly gone. But we won't know for sure until the game releases.
Curious as to what y'all think about these comments NOW since the quest or cinematic where Bwonsomdi cant find Vol'Jin's spirit? (I havent been able to actually PLAY since 7.2.5, but ive caigut uo via videos so idk if its a quest or cinematic lol)
Hello Nobbel, I have some speculation about the real beginning of the zandalari empire. Firstly, we know that the zandalari first lived in a city called Zul'Nazman, in the zone now called Nazmir, and from what we know they moved south into Zuldazar to avoid G'huun.
We know that its Dazar who decided to bring his ppl out of Nazmir and from what we can read in the King's rest dungeon about him, is that he freed his people from "the curse of blood".
And we also know that the seal of G'huun was made before the empire and they built the temple of Dazar'alor first, its after that they really made an empire.
So my speculation is that Dazar and the zandalari found titan keepers who were in Nazmir and Uldir, when G'huun was created, and i think
keepers and the zandalari worked together to seal G'huun and they built thoses seals around troll cities or future cities (Atal'aman?).
But I think its a huge task for trolls to do such a big temple and seals, so i think keepers helped them and they put the zandalari in charge to be the guardians of those seals and then of G'huun.
What do you think?
lovely lovely lovely!! as a troll player since the vanilla, i be changin my faction now.
In the span of 10 years I've gone from a human rogue with the alliance to an orc warrior with the horde.. dabbled with the belf demon hunters of the legion for awhile but couldn't get down with the belf body. I rolled a troll druid and settled in... then this happened. No way I'm passing up on a straight back troll that can shapeshift into dinosaurs.
Awesome work
hell yeah can't wait for brand new lore vids.
I was at home eating seasoned loins when the phone rang.
"Rastakhan is kil"
I've always wondered what happened to the Farraki troll empire, were they affected by the forge as well?
What do you mean? They're chilling out in Zul'FARRAK..
It was my understanding that Trolls were short lived, around 40 years or so. At least that's what it was in the old RPGs and while they aren't official lore anymore the stuff in those RPGs did help form what is.
Also I'm surprised you didn't mention the Zul'Gurub attack on Stormwind.
Always the best videos on RUclips.
The Trolls/Zandalari almost sound like team rocket... always trying and always failing
3:20 I love being a floating head, arms, and legs
thank u for teaching me about my people. dis will come in handy in de future
2:55 fishermon hahaha
Wait, I thought the other troll empires was created after the war against the Aqir by the Zandalari?
As I understood it, the were only Zandalari trolls at first, however, as soon the Aqir was awaken, they waged a war against the Zandalari trolls, and the Zandalari started to make special groups in order to counter against the insectoids, not huge armies, but special forces more like it. Once they hade won the war. The Zandalari rewarded this various of groups to make their own empires across Kalimdor, that would eventully become Amani, Gurrubashi and Drakkari.
Or how I goten this all wrong? I thought I read this in the chronicles.
So here's a question, why is it that suddenly the Zandalari are willing to work with the Horde? They've tried to destroy the Horde over and over again, the last time not too long ago when Vol'jin turned his back on them. What has changed? Also how are the Darkspear suddenly so accepting of the Zandalari when they were deemed a threat before? Is it just a matter of, now that Vol'jin is dead, there's no beef between the troll races?
J.A.Ratt85 that’s the story of the expansion
J.A.Ratt85 I don't know the story in the alpha, but I would think that after their repeated losses, the Zandalari will rethink their views towards other races. Besides, our main beef with the Zandalari in the past was when Zul led his followers to conquer, Rastakhan wasn't exactly involved in that so I doubt he has as much of an issue with us.
Definitely a Zandalari Civil War about to occur soon.
J.A.Ratt85 30:45-31:15. And the story of exactly how they will join. Well thats the leveling questline from what ive heard.
Princess Talanji, daughter of Rastakhan, is captured by the Alliance. They bring her to Stormwind and the Horde heroes rescue her. Upon bringing her to Zandalar, the Horde is shunned as expected. The only reason we are allowed to stay is because Talanji asks Rastakhan to do so. (This is canon, happening as of Alpha right now). This is how we build a link with them.
Nice video Nobbel
Pls do the story of the kingdom of Stormwind
Just do all the kingdoms and civilizations while you’re at it
So why do they join the horde? Zandalari and Amani have been close friends, joining horde means betraying them. Maybe Amani can also join the horde at some point but thats unlikely because you know elfs.
Aren't the Amani nearly extinct? We've killed their most powerful leaders/witch doctors on top of the scores of their followers.
@buldren0101 their numbers should be more than darkspear imo
The Horde rescues Princess Talanji of Zandalar from Stormwind after she is captured. This is how we start building a relationship with them.
Forest Trolls on the Horde and High Elves on the Alliance would be awesome.
Honestly i dont understand why the horde allied with the zandalari, despite being responsable for the ressurection of lei shen.
Loa of the Dead not Loa of Death ;)
Awesome video as always Nobble, I still have a lot to learn xD
Nah Loa of Death mate & Thank you! wow.gamepedia.com/Quest:The_Necropolis
Right...they must have changed it since I prepped the video on Bwonsamdi -.-'
Stuff like that puts me off kinda...for example, I've been working on the League of Legends Timeline the last 2 months.
Well now, that I've completed it, the biggest League of Legends Lore RUclipsr uploaded a Timeline video...nvm I guess, gotta keep going.
Its amusing how Zul went to recruit Voljin/Darkspear from the Horde, but now Zandalari joins the Horde.
Awesome. Thank you!
Zandalari FisherMON......that's...just brilliant.
I know that this is kinda off topic, but can you make a video on the KT humans and their possible classes? Also, there is a rumor that the reason the KT humans look the way they are is because their ancestors mixed with the Drust (who appear to be some kind of vrykul), which explains why they can be druids and also shamans?
Can you make one specifically about Rastakans rumble?
i'm going to pretend that this is part 1 of the Troll Lore video, because seriously i want to see you explain what comes next after Battle for Azeroth is over.
Rumor has it that the Zandalari will have Paladins too. If that’s true, then it would make them the first class to have access to all of the nine original classes that came out when the game first started. And that gets me peeved. I mean, the Shaman class armor dummy in their order hall uses a human model, and it makes it look good on the human, but I’ll never be able to flaunt it because humans can’t be shamans! It’s so unfair
You made a vid on Jaina a while ago, do you think you would be able to talk more about stuff with her??
Hey love the lore videos, I was wondering do you think that we will kill alexstrasza at some stage because well she is the only aspect that we have not killed yet?
Your voice is beautiful (no homo) I sometimes use 8 hours of my day watching your lore videos even if I have already seen them
The Zandalari isn't working with the horde. The horde is working with the zandalari ;D
Wow. I didn't know trolls could be so interesting. They lived all over Azaroth in anchient times. They also had an interesting nature based religion with loa. Night elves have evolved from trolls. Maybe the troll religion evolved into Night Elf religion. Reverence of loa changed to reverence to wild gods. Loa and wilds gods are similar. The night elves add Elune. This addition is probably due to the night elves evolving near the well of eternity. They gain some kind of contact with the titan inside the planet, and they call her Elune. The winged serpent in Stranglethorn Vale reminds me of Quetzelcoatl. I feel sorry for the Darkspear Trolls only getting a few spots in the orc dominated Durotar. It would be cool if they had thier own zone. Trolls used to have such a large territory that having one zone can suffice. Maybe gnomes can have thier own zone too. It can be somewhere in the mountinous dwarf dominated zones.
Holy fuck I hadn't seen the Zandalari Druid forms yet. I was expecting just a variation on the Troll Druid forms, not all out Dino Crisis, hell the bear form is more like Gamera or some depictions of the dragon Tarasque. Holy shit, I need to play as this.
12:53 Jedi goats confirmed
rofl
also, i miss vol-jin, he was a like a super hero for the trolls, kicking Zandalari behind and being a super dude, now we have a dead lady as our leader because of half baked armor, instead of a dude who earned that position with pride...sad times the horde be in but now the trolls be back, and as a fan favorite allied race!!
Nobbel I got to ask your opinion on something. There's been some lore discrepancy involving the Kul Tirans being able to come druids as some people have come to consider this as "lore-breaking".I don't really agree with this despite not knowing everything about the Kul Tirans.I do know that they are descendants of the Gilneans who had at least some connection to nature in the form of Harvest Witches.I'm pretty sure they found some ancient power on Kul Tiras when they settled that helped further their connection to nature though I don't know for sure.Seeing as your a massive lore nerd maybe you can give your opinion on the matter?
Talked a bit about this during last stream. If it's lore breaking or not, I'll let people decide for themselves. Personally don't mind considering we have the drust history in Drustvar & druidism in Gilneas. On top of that, we've seen mages return to the night elves and tauren looking up at the sky figuring they could worship the sun and gain the power of the light.
3:15 HEY CAPTAIN YOU FEELING OKAY? You’re kinda missing half of your body
i dont know why, but i feel like there are gonna be a lot of parallels to this and the animated movie el dorado. Like there'll be some betrayal from someone in a high position - like selling themselves out to a higher, more stronger power than the loa (mirrored by miguel and tulio in the movie) ... to the old gods (the conquistadors). Which may or may not end up with something akin to what happened in the vale of eternal blossoms.
but what do i know i dont even play wow anymore
So Horde get's awesome totems and dinosaurs while alliance gets noting? *TRIGGERED*
Pretty much, 80% of the money went into the horde, and us alliance must turn a blind eye as usual....
Hello bro I have question. My favorite character is thyratan khort. Why did bwonsamdi want his soul? He is human. And later he saved him. My point is why would troll god or loa want human?
Hey not sure if you ever got the answer to this question but I suspect Bwonsamdi wanted the soul because he is a friend of Vol'jin and perhaps he wanted to use it against him as leverage?
Nobbel, first off king rastekhan was mentioned to be 400 years old, 2nd all troll tribes trace lineage from the zandalari, and third the Amani went north east near quel'thalas, the gurubashi took most of the South of the continent, and the farraki took the desserts south of thousand needles on kalimdor
i remember seeing something about there being a meeting between all the troll leaders ever so often but i cant find anything on it do you know of anything like that?
I like how captain bajins body is invisible
History of the Trolls, period! Blizzard's take on this race is my favorite. Not a bunch of dumb, lumbering monsters like in other universes. These trolls are unique!
So it basically took the intervention of a Titan creation and a bunch of boosted elves to finally quiet the Zandalari for long while.
But the silence will soon be over. The Horde will usher in a new troll empire.
At least I hope that's what Blizzard decides to do.
Kul Tiras and the Dragon Islands be missing at this map of Azzorth btw :P
It is funny and always will be that while the trolls were on top. Honestly most issues like the old gods were dealt with but then when that one sect of trolls became elves. Well a majority of things went downhill and lets face it. Elves are a major source of a majority of problems on Azeroth if you trace it back far enough.
Damn so. The Zandalari have joined a faction where 3 of the races have defeated them already in their long and ancient history. They have got to be holding on to some grudges still.
What does DP mean? I get it's like some event in the Warcraft history/lore but what idk
Before the opening of the Dark Portal and After, so the first time the horde came in to invade is where they place year 0
Ah, cheers for the enlightenment.
Weren't the trolls around before the Ordering? I thought it was established they were some of the few sentient beings that lived when the Titans arrived. Then the world was ordered, the Old Gods arrived and fought the trolls, and some trolls gathered around the Well once it was created, and then evolved into the Elves.
Luk'a'dis boi doin' big tings wit' a big website! He doin' good.
@3.14 Captain Bajin and her mystical sword.....
How did you get your character model to be invisible for some of these shots? It didn't look like you were zoomed in all the way, and I don't know of any in-game items to do that.
can you do Zul'drak lore next please?
I just woke up and what do I see? It will be a very good day ^^
1:25 Hey Nobble here's some more info for ya on The "Loa"
The Loa have been broken down into three subsets, following the Voodoo traditions on which Troll faith is based. These are Rada, Petro and Ghede.
The Rada Loa, known collectively as the World-Smiths, are generally older and more benevolent spirits. (Wild Gods, Naaru, Old Gods, Titan Keepers and The Titans)
The Petro Loa are more fiery, occasionally aggressive and warlike. They represent particular aspects of life. (The Elements)
The Ghede are the spirits of Troll ancestors and tribes might have their own Ghede. (Bwonsamdi)
Also any being who has died and transcended death can be worshiped as a loa. (Maybe we can get Vol'jin Back)
Maybe we can get Vol'jin Back...
---
He HAS returned as a spirit advisor of that Zandalari princess.
I see Azshara be wantin' da power.
