- Last week we talked about the story of the Zandalari trolls and the prophet Zul stands out amongst them. During Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm and Pandaria he tried a whole lot of things only to see his plans fail...or did they?! I hope you'll enjoy!

*SPOILERS*
"He was corrupted by old gods!" is a terribly lazy and overused way to write villains, and I am extremely disappointed in Blizzard in BfA for tossing that story at Zul and just ignoring his past characterization of doing what he did to help trolls. They ruined what was once a cool villain with actually interesting motivations.
also, why would an old god want a world ruled by trolls? did the trolls not almost wipe out the aqir?
Jesus Christ, Blizzard just can't fucking avoid writing "corrupted" storylines.
wait, do we KNOW if he's being controlled by G'huun or N'zoth? He might worship G'huun, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's a mindless pawn. maybe he sees it as a deal of sorts: Zul gives G'huun sacrifices, and in return G'huun leaves Zul alone and helps him take the throne.
But I could be giving Blizzard too much credit. Maybe he's just another pawn of the Old Gods.
I just hope, if he is corrupted, it's not by G'huun. I mean, Zul has been at sea for years, and he's been in Zandalari for...what, a few weeks at most?
He literally screams Old God gibberish in his boss fight, datamined by wowhead. There's no hope for him not being just a generic corrupted cultist.
Fun fact, if you go to the Pandaria Raids and equip Strom'kar, The Warbreaker (warrior Arms artifact) the trolls will start running away in fear *including the bosses*.
That blade slaughtered lots of Amani trolls. Lots.
Monguku i like that, super flavorful. i think it works with all NPC enemy trolls!
indeed it does, but I think it's the funniest in the raid :p
Also works in zul'aman and zul'gurub.
Same as the ashbringer and the Scarlet fanatics :D
those trolls and their wicked dance moves had me rolling.
15:23 those moves :D none stand against the troll dance!
“Zul what do you see for the zandalari capital?”
Zul: Das a lotta damage!
Zandalar will recover through the power of flextape!
I was going to say that
Some people want zandalari paladins.
Some people want zul to not worship the old gods, and be his own man.
Some people want Hakkar.
I just want a named blood troll npc yelling BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! While charging at us from his makeshift throne of skulls. Is this too much to ask for?
theres snakes which are yelling. FOR THE EMPEROR!
PRIDE HERALDS THE END OF YOUR WORLD, MORTALS!
Ive heard so many things during bfa so far such as ''Blood for the blood god'' or ''For the emperor'' or that the blood trolls are ''Heretics''. Now im just waiting for someone charging while screaming *WAAAAAAGH*
I want to make a blood troll while using Blood Magic.
SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!
"The trolls, with their wicked dance moves" I lost it..
I like Zul. Even with his Old God thingy, he is unique in a way of being seemingly powerless but still being capable of burning down Alliance capital with a single torch.
I was a little sad to hear that he would be just another boss, but Talanji’s datamined text suggested that Rastakhan himself kills Zul the first time and I cannot be anything but excited for that!
Mythic only boss, personally ressurected by G'huun
When you cool as a cucumber, I know, but a guy, who sees the future so vividly that Velen might wanna take some lessons, feels like he deserves a more intricate plotline.
I’m slightly biased towards trolls though XD
Maybe his death by Rastakhan is going to be epic enough!
The dance moves are too much for the Pandaren
the more troll Lore the better
اسمعي انتي خذي البيبي حقي وانا اقولك قصه الترولز من بداياتها لين نهايتها وفي اشياء اعرفها حتى بليزارد مايدرو عنها لسا
do u play wow ?
you are a great narrator dude, thanks a lot =)
Just a little reminder - World of Warcraft has spent less time whole than it has having been destroyed by the Cataclysm. 6 years between release and Cata, 7 years between Cata and now.
Who needs sleep when you have Nobbel, right?
Exactly.
i love the thought of Hakaar being in G'huun. it fits with his wish to be free. and it fits what blizz has been hinting at in the end of legion of nothing is black and white. imagine the titans merging old god with loa in hopes to make an old god killer.
Love your lore vids, for someone who played excessively between Vanilla and Pandaria your vids really help connect the old info to the new that I missed out on.
my predictions:
Zandalari hit by big waves was one of the visions, it could still come true with ashara and n'zoth in the mix.
Hakar might be a avatar of g'huun, that could explain why in cata Zul wanted to resurect him. Zul is a crafty guy, So if he foresaw the rise of G'huun and both drakari and pandaria played a role to perpare his coupe, It would be logic that the events in cata also were for those preparations and Zul was already following G'huun. At least i am certain that hakar has a close relation to the bloodgod.
Zul seems like a Troll Gul'dan
thats really all he is
Zul'dan
Except unlike Gul'dan he at least cares for the trolls somewhat and just wants to see them restored to their former greatness
"with their wicked dance moves" lmao
A turtle made it to the water!
I get the feeling the part about Zul 'controlling a resurrected king' is more about manipulating him than actual mind-control. If the latter were true, there would be no need for the zandalari to act subservient to him throughout that patch; quite the opposite in fact. Plus getting Lei-Shen to believe everything was his idea falls more in line with how Zul has been characterized thus far.
He only clearly claimed that he had learned the forbidden knowledege on how to ressurect an ancient king back to life and how to control them, he never states that he enslaved Lei Shen himself. That is clearly for the simple reason that he, although one of the most powerful prophets we've ever seen in Warcraft and he is a powerful soul-priest, but Lei Shen who was extremely powerful in the arcane arts and had an iron will, would be too independent for Zul's will to dominate his.
You can clearly see in BfA that he was not talking about manipulation at all, but actual control through enslaving their will. But in BfA, Zul uses his spiritual knowledge and his new gift's from G'huun to trap Rezan and sacrifice him, using his blood as great source of power to raise not only Rezan, but also Dazar and all the King's Guard and bound them to the will of G'huun, instead of Zul's own will. Since G'huun's will is tremendously stronger than basicly any other, it makes more sense to keep them bound to his master directly instead of having Zul's mental abilitiies preoccupied with them.
I think the vision that Zul saw with Zandalar sinking was a vision where Deathwing was victorious at the end of Dragon Soul
#Suggestion Can you do a story on the Centaur, they used to drive out the Tauren out of the barrens now nothing has been said about them in ages.
Petru Bumbar the horde steam rolled them in Warcraft 3
@@Humanrunna and exterminated most of them during the Founding of Durotar. But some still sneak in from Desolace and 1k Needles, but it's nowhere near the power they once held. We even murder one of their chiefs trying to push back into the barrens during Vanilla, by breaking his liutentents and their camps, and then taking him out when he shows up in force, not realizing that his back-up has already been taken care of. And then kill a ton of the Centaur in 1k needles, and work on undermining the power of the Centaur of Desolace by playing two clans against each other and assassinating a 3rd stronger clan.
Yes the trolls wicked dance moves is why they rock!
Goddammit, for 1 second I thought this was a new patch announcement haha
"Marvel's Infinity War is the biggest crossover ever"
Nobbel87: The story of Zul the prophet.
Are you going to make a review for the newest book in Traveler? It does reveal some information on a certain Farraki Loa that has only had a little information as well as the status of a few characters and groups seen in World of Warcraft.
damn, if I were Sylvanas, I'd prefer Zul over Rastakhan and unite all trolls against alliance
The old troll empire being lost to sea in a cataclism reminds me of the story of Atlantis. The troll prophet that has forseen the tragedy and takes other trolls on boats reminds me of Noah. The idea of all trolls banding together and retaking their native homeland is so compelling. Taking back noble land is such a good cause. I feel bad for all the trolls I killed as a player. I wonder why the Darkspear don't just ally all the trolls with the Horde.
0:25 I just can't get enough of that story, nor can I imagine anyone other than El Capitan or Pooh recounting it.
Rokhan was the Troll accompaning Rexxar in WC III wasn't he? Wonder how he ended up there. :D
No ring that bell ring ding ding? the end message disappointed Nobbel 😞
Awesome as always. Thank you for doing what you're doing 🐼
am I the only one who thinks that Zul is hunch because he's dragged down by his massive tusks?
Zul sounds like a rip off of Zulzulzul
yeah I know
Drakkari troll lore!!!
Man... did Chris Metzen voiced Hakkar as well? Or am I just hearing wrongly?
Any chance we will get a video on Bwonsamdi any time soon? That guy is great!
I'd like to see the nightingale effects in that scenario make its way into out of scenario Stormwind.
Yay!, my weekly sleep deprivation is here!
I waited for this, thanks!
15:25 with their wicked dance moves
I think we need this one with a part 2
weird how theyve been working on this narrative since 2010 I totally forgot about all of this.
This is a good 👍🏼one hopefully there will be more of zul
6:16 "Thats a lotta damage"
"Hi, Phil Swift here from Flex Tape"
great videos
Can you have David Attenborough do the commentary as a special guest for one of these lol
Some of the lore surrounding Zul could be cleared up by the Shadowlands Xpac at least that is what i am hoping
Now the horde has his own velen.
Damn I love Nobbel
He’s a Morgan Freeman of Warcraft
OH BABY ITS A LORE VIDEO!
Looking back at this after BFA, I kinda want a quest where we go and update Cho's story.
25:50 Handsome Jack Troll version
Trust me, you do give blizzard's writing way too much credit.
DONT GET CAUGHT WITH YER BEARD IN THE LETTERBOX!
I think the final seal might be that huge wheel in the central pyramid.
you're welcome people in zandalar
Seriously now, not since Cho'gall have we actually had such a charismatic villain as Zul truly shows to be. Unlike Cho'gall who was dangerously insane even before he turned to the Old God's, but Zul is not insane, but he is extremely cunning and a master manipulator.
Now aged and fragile, he has forseen his destiny and his chance to finally restore the troll race as the rulers of this world.
With his status as the Dark Prophet, he commanded great influence within the Zandalari Empire and has King Rastakhans ear( could be shadowy manipulation on Zul's part, as both Vol'kaal and the General Jakra'zet, who commands a large portion of the King's army which the General will later use for his own purposes as he is a traitor to the King and sided with Zul aswell.
I think his prophetic visions was how he came in contact with G'huun. And G'huun empowered him, while at the same time being secretly allied with the Blood Trolls who dominates Nazmir.
However, It would be such a shame to waste a character like that for just the start of the expansion.
Zul deserves to be in the end game, with so much history and connections to several expansions, I think the G'huun and Zul part should've been the last raid or atleast have Zul ressurected as undead. Since we have already seen that Zul is ready to do whatever it takes to restore the Zandalari empire, in whatever form it may take. Since he uses his soul-binding powers to ressurect the trolls to serve once more.
Maybe Zul was right?! Maybe it was time to replace the old and stagnant King, who had grown too weak and old to rule anymore. Zul did him a favor.
If the Horde would've been more clever, they would just taken the princess as hostage and steal their fleet from them. Or outright make a deal with Zul.
After all the work and years he spent working on this, he deserved to claim victory for his master. Let them reshape the Zanalari Empire while we steal the Fleet and force the princess to serve the Horde. We can deal with the zandalari later, we haveAlliance forces to kill first!
I wouldn't have know it until now, but the troll accent to get it down right? Is about malice. Wishing ill for a fellow troll. Mon.... whada discovery. I'll never get that accent down.
I hope they make Hakkar an endgameboss where he wants to eat all of our souls.
He clearly hate us and are a really fun character
Where have you been all my life Nobbel87???!!!!!
(and by all my life 5 months prior to proper BFA mainstream release)
Love ur vids 👍👍👍👍👍👍
assuming zul worked without the kings knowing, this seems like the way the last remaining old gods works(can't remember its name at the moment). even states in the history how his followers were not know, and worked for a long term goals that were not always in his favor but worked to his end
N'Zoth.
Zul is an interesting character.
you dont "carve" gold you "cast" it.
Vol'jin soul was lost bwsomdi bout to get his ass whooped by hakkar
And we'll kill Zul in Uldir, for a Prophet I guess he never saw that coming....
It's possible Zul has been brainwashed by N'Zoth, assuming Zul wouldn't try to unleash the old gods if he really cared about Zandalar
For being "Heroes of Azeroth," we are a very stupid lot XD
Will you make a short video on the new chronicles volume?
Cho's text: "He was visited by his most trusted prophet, Zul" , vs the spoken line "He was visited by the dark prophet, Zul" I always found an odd inconsistency..
Why did we not see the Troll gods defeated by the Scourge turn into undead?
Or do they return to another plane in order to be reborn?
hey did you get the chronicles Vol 3? Mine just came into the shop!
Gaping fissure that tore the ocean floor open, that sounds like the entrence to ny'alotha
So with the story that Lorewalker Cho told us, Zandalar did not actually fall into the sea as we are going to the continent in Battle for Azeroth, still seemingly still on the ocean's surface. Has that been retcon or is there something I had missed?
It has been slowly falling into the sea since the cataclysm but it hasn't been fully submerged yet.
Why no more goodnight stories rly enjoyed them
“DING!!!”
Zul should be king of the zandulers.
He's that guy who writes "Sylvanus".
Nyierm Trkvzp I wouldn't mind a peek at Sylvanas' Sylvanus...
@Utter Disappointment your name fits
WoW BfA ad on this video :)
Very intresting story
Never clicked so fast in my life.
Can you cover the loa
His plan id assume was to absorb G'huun. Who he thought was a Loa, when it was really a old god.
I am still really disappointed with the whole Ghuun bit of the story... i mean it has no point to it. Why not use the Blood God thats already in the game? Hakkar would be both still familiar and finally something different than just Old gods again. The Story disappoints me more and more with their strange choices.
And it would also tie up some of the loose ends (with Hakkar been free since the Cataclysm)
G'huun may is not be an actual Old God, but rather a failed experiment by the Titans. He is definitely nothing like we have seen before. As for Hakkar, I agree. This would be the perfect opportunity to bring him back. But who knows, maybe he will return. There's speculation he might see G'huun as a usurper and actually help us defeat this thing.
the great prophet speaks of Hakaar being reborn by G'huun, perhaps a secret boss like ra den in the throne of thunder
what if ghuun is prenant w hakkar or at very least, hakkar comes after the blood and souls that ghuun has been gorging on
will there be a part 2?
Nobbel, with the words of Zul it goes 1, 2 then 3, not 3, 2 then 1
Like trolls my favorite horde race
hakkar def chris metzen
plz plz bliz dont revive voljin as a bad guy plz !!!!!!!!
Question!!! Where did you got that awesome scythe for mog? Please someone tell me, I NEED IT!

Thanks mate, I've discovered a similar after a quick google search if you're interested is called Witch-Hunter's Harvester. It almost looks the same, but easier to craft! xD
In any way, thanks for your info.
Jamon means Ham in spanish...i giggled a little
HALLO everyonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnneeeeeeeeee
Zul is my nick name btw :P and that's what i was searching and find this..!!
24:41 i helped here ^ ^
So are we going too kill zul?
i dont like how zul became an evil character. i hope in the end he becomes an ally
15:24 LMAO
Isn't zul a raid boss in BfA?
6th boss in Uldir
The problem with Blizzard, is that they do not know how to write a stable story anymore.
There is only Zul
