Welcome back to another kayak fishing adventure on Lake Erie! In this session, I started out on Friday evening 2.5 miles offshore hunting any fish that would bite my lure. After almost an hour with no bites, I moved back to a familiar spot in 20 feet of water and caught a few walleye, with one being 25". The next morning, I met my friend Josh at the ramp and we launched bright an early in search of more walleye. I caught a hefty one but since he was snagged in the body, I let him go. We proceeded to catch only sheephead (freshwater drum) for the rest of the session before I called it a day.
This video is the first one with the new MotorGuide Xi3 GPS trolling motor, which replaced the Bixpy Jet. I am very impressed with it's capabilities, including GPS anchor (spot lock), heading hold, and cruise control. I will make another video to detail the setup, but for now, please enjoy a glass calm evening, and beautifully sunny morning kayak fishing on Lake Erie! Thanks for joining me.

Love the video. Do you find that the trolling motor on the bow caused any balance issues? Too heavy up front? I know the Old Town canoe has the motor in the middle, but the darn thing is SO expensive.

No balance issues with the battery in the rear. All in, the trolling motor and battery add about 65lb to the total weight onboard.

What mount or bracket are you using to mount the XI3 to your shearwater?
