Hey Alison new here! Thank you for your time and providing all this info I am excited I found an alternative to epoxy I have never used it I just cant even risk it so here I am learning about BT 😀
Hi Alison! I am so glad I stumbled across your video. I want to make tumblers covered with fabric using Mod Podge. What would be the difference in process using Brite Tone besides more layers. I see you mentioned sanding, would you sand even though you're using fabric? Would you sand the cup before starting with the Mod Podge? Thank you again for the great video!
I have a question. Can you use mod podge to put glitter on, let it dry completely, then and crystalac? I have tons of mod podge but no glitter glue. I do have tacky glue though. Could that work? Thanks for such informative videos! Im definitely a new subscriber 😊
Mod podge can cause lots of problems. I recommend the glitter glue from crystalac! thecrystalacstore.com/products/crystalac-glitter-glue?_pos=1&_sid=394ae612c&_ss=r&&sca_ref=301559.RjXXsfrXmN
Can you use Crystalac as a Quick coat glitter sealer? Then Epoxy? Also, Crystalac looks like it has a better evenness to it. Can you use epoxy, sand it, then use a couple coats of Crystalac as top coats to make it flawless?

I have seen a lot of ppl that say there cups peels/color change idk what there doing. I ordered the MATTE to try. I would love to see a review of comparison of cup with using it like for a month
Hi I am super new at this. I am going to try to start making glitter pens. Could u in your opinion list me what u would buy from the crystalac place you have below? I love you work by the way :)
Hello I’m so happy I found your RUclips channel. I just start making Starbucks tumblers a month ago as extra income and some of my sample cups started peeling after applying crystalac after a few days .I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong and I been researching for the past 2 weeks and can’t find anything .

I have a question I did a skinny Mayte tumbler with vinyl and wanted to ask if I could crystalac on them? Because I made a tumble but I sprayed it with Matte mod podge and if I scratch the cup the whole paint on the tumbler comes off . Please I need help
I’m switching to crystalac but I have a few cups that aren’t done yet that I’ve used epoxy on. Would I be able to put crystalac over the dried epoxy to finish it off?
Hi Allison! Great video, thanks for that. I'm looking for an option to top coat a couple tables I want to do an acrylic pour technique on. Do you think this product would hold up to a tables wear and tear? Coffee and Kitchen table, not a wee side table wear... Thanks in advance! Jan
Great video! Are you able to apply glitter using this stuff? Like the epoxy method where you use a thin coat of epoxy, add glitter, let cure, then coat again? I would like to switch!
Hi! I make coasters that I put alcohol ink on ceramic tiles first, then vinyl and I usually top it off with epoxy, would I be able to use crystalac instead?
Hi. I'm just starting to make resin items. I wanted to make jewelry mostly but other things like wall decorations, coasters, and other decorative pieces. I not only have a small cat but I have asthma. Crystalac seems to be the better option for someone like me but what molds can I order off Amazon if I can't use silicone?
It's definitely much safer but unfortunately can't be used in molds. You can use acrylic blanks though or laser cut wood pieces. Depends on what look you're going for with your decorations!
Are amounts to use similar? I currently use alumilite amazing clear cast. Say I measure out 30cc part A, 30cc part B, for 60cc to use, would I use 60 cc for each coat of crystalac? It may seem silly, but thickness of fluid makes a difference when measuring volume
@@AlisonCrafts thanks, that's a big relief! I just received mine, starting with a quart to see if I like. I've just got a few to finish with epoxy, but I can't wait to try it!
Oof, I think I'll stick with Resin. It's what I'm most comfortable with and it doesn't seem like Crystalac only has a few differences in terms of time use which is most important to me. The versatility in Crystalac just doesn't seem as beneficial to me as resin/epoxy does. Thank you so much for a great video! Now I won't spend money where I don't need to. 😉😘
I tried both and resin is the best for sealing decals I used the crystalac and you can still feel the decals on tumbler. I guess you guess you have to do several coats but resin you don't need to do all that. It's good for a gloss but not for of u using decals on anything. The resin was more shiny when I used it.
You can add black to the brite tone but i has to be less than 3% by volume so only a very little bit! If you add it to the universal white you will get a grey.
How long does it take for crystalac to cure on Starbucks cups with only vinyl on it? Is it also up to 30 days? Also, when it is cured does that mean it is dishwasher safe?
Can you make a mold and use uv resin and then coat the top in crystallac to get the bumps out for a seamless finish I libe my uv resin I just have issue with the tops looking like grit or somthing is in therw
Hi Allison so glad I came across your video so helpful! 💗 question how do the 15 coats work? Am I doing 15 coats over the completed product or is it a few coats in between the glitter and vinyl and then more coats on top?
Hello! I love your videos and have started making custom coffee mugs and using crystalac but I noticed this morning it was peeling off the bottom of my coffee mug....do you happen to know why it's peeling? Did I do something wrong?
The question I keep coming back to is cost. Do you have any cost comparison between epoxy vs crystalac? I've tried googling cost comparison but no one seems to cover that part of it, which makes me think it might be a higher cost. That many layers of a product which on the whole is already more expensive sounds like it will be quite a price increase. I've not looked into Crystalac a lot, but the number of layers intimidates me. I've just started doing (epoxy) tumblers 6 months ago as a hobby so I can't really afford a huge price increase right now. So I'm just very curious how the cost might break down per cup. If you have any thoughts on this I'd love to hear it. Thanks!
it's hard to do a cost comparison because there is such a cost difference between different brands of epoxy. So depending on what you use, your cost will be different than someone else. I can say that it's very comparable. It's more layers, but each layer is 2 mls, not 15 like epoxy. Anyway, It works out to be about $1.60 per cup for me. If you can figure out your epoxy usage per cup, you can compare the two!
I've asked this to many crafters and have never had it answered. If it needs to be reapplied every 4 hours, what happens at night. Do I need to get up every 4 hours?
Congratulations!! Definitely seek advice from a doctor and reach out to the company, they'd be happy to help you. There are no ingredients that are a concern for pregnant women but best to get advice from a Dr!

Hi Allison! Great video, thanks for that. I'm looking for an option to top coat a couple tables I want to do an acrylic pour technique on. Do you think this product would hold up to a tables wear and tear? Coffee and Kitchen table, not a wee side table wear... Thanks in advance! Jan
Yes! That's actually what it was deigned for. They've been used in furniture for over 40 years 😁
I'm new to all this...n this the first thing I bought but how do I know if I should keep adding brite tone or when to stop
Sand your Brite Tone every 3 coats. LIghtly with 400 grit sand paper. You can stop adding brite tone when you are happy with the finish!
Great video! Are you able to apply glitter using this stuff? Like the epoxy method where you use a thin coat of epoxy, add glitter, let cure, then coat again? I would like to switch!
Absolutely you can! Here is a video! ruclips.net/video/RnxM8vUnSc4/видео.html
Hi! I make coasters that I put alcohol ink on ceramic tiles first, then vinyl and I usually top it off with epoxy, would I be able to use crystalac instead?
Very helpful! So you don’t have to wear a respirator with crystallac at all?
Nope!! Just a basic mask when sanding or if you spray it on.
Thanks for this video! Love how you break it down
Glad it was helpful!
Are amounts to use similar? I currently use alumilite amazing clear cast. Say I measure out 30cc part A, 30cc part B, for 60cc to use, would I use 60 cc for each coat of crystalac? It may seem silly, but thickness of fluid makes a difference when measuring volume
No the amounts are way less with Brite Tone. I use 2-3 mls per coat.
Can crystal lac be used over smooth or glitter vinyl?
yep!
Hi Alison can I add black acrylic paint to crystalac to paint over my tumbler?
You can add black to the brite tone but i has to be less than 3% by volume so only a very little bit! If you add it to the universal white you will get a grey.
Thank you! Also, how soon after you are done with your cup and everything had dried up can you use it?
How long does it take for crystalac to cure on Starbucks cups with only vinyl on it? Is it also up to 30 days? Also, when it is cured does that mean it is dishwasher safe?
it does take up to 30 days to cure but is safe to use after about 5-7. The cups are not dishwasher safe, handwash only.
How many tumblers can you do with like a pint of crystalac
Can you make a mold and use uv resin and then coat the top in crystallac to get the bumps out for a seamless finish I libe my uv resin I just have issue with the tops looking like grit or somthing is in therw
i've never used it with uv resin but as long as it's fully cured you probably can!
Hi Allison so glad I came across your video so helpful! 💗 question how do the 15 coats work? Am I doing 15 coats over the completed product or is it a few coats in between the glitter and vinyl and then more coats on top?
you coat with brite tone every 4 hours and then once it's smooth, add your decal, then add a few more coats over that!
@@AlisonCrafts thank you 😊
Hello! I love your videos and have started making custom coffee mugs and using crystalac but I noticed this morning it was peeling off the bottom of my coffee mug....do you happen to know why it's peeling? Did I do something wrong?
A ceramic mug? Did you prep it?
@@AlisonCrafts yes a basic ceramic mug used rubbing alcohol to clean the cup before applying it
The question I keep coming back to is cost.
No it's *at least* 4 hours so longer is totally fine
Great series! Thank you! You present everything so well!
Thank you for watching!!
Very Informative! love this

Is CrystalLac safe for pregnant women? I normally use epoxy, but we just find out that we are expecting!
Congratulations!! Definitely seek advice from a doctor and reach out to the company, they'd be happy to help you. There are no ingredients that are a concern for pregnant women but best to get advice from a Dr!
