Offering somebody nearly half of the asking price is ridiculous and rude.

I'm not really sure how to respond to this as it sounds like an op-ed or personal journal entry but I don't disagree but as a broker I deal with this constantly. we call them "low ballers" or "bottom feeders" and this guy is no exception. These people will drag you around town and look for the most unrealistic deal ever and won't buy until they run home laughing to the bank. it's annoying and frustrating but these people exist and it's part of being a salesman. Trust me i've gotten into fights with people over it and have lost "potential customers" but my friend in real estate told me they weren't going to be good customers anyways. In this business you want to find customers that want the best quality and the best experience and are willing to pay for it. The bottom feeders are just bad people and are basically the same as the Ferrari renter that can't afford to put gas in it. This is actually a big part of what we call "qualifying". Once you're seasoned enough you can deal with these people by basically just not dealing with them because they are a waste of time. They won't buy anything unless it is a "steal" and frankly i have really rich clients that I would give that "steal" to before these losers. Hope that makes sense.

That's it? Did he buy it o what? And GulfCraft makes good looking yachts but like Ben Mallah went to go look at one, I think this one before the refit and apparently it had mold and all sorts of things wrong with it. I loved the GulfCraft 140' and then the 180 was amazing. The Nomad series is also pretty cool. Imagree with your client though, 8.2 would be the maximum I would offer for that. Considering that brand new they are around 10 or 11 now? But anyways, they need their yachts out there too considering Cheoy Lee, Conrad, Admiral, Azimut, and Mengi Yay are putting out some very attractive yachts lately with some attractive prices for under 125'. Even Bering redisgned their 125' to have an owners and a charter configuration. GulfCraft was the rage 2 years ago with the 140. Now??

Nick, how does one get into this business with no experience? Highly motivated, and willing to put in whatever work is needed and then some! Lmk 🙏🏼

He covers that in one of his videos. He says you have to bring a yacht sale to a broker to even be considered. Something like that.

to be a yacht broker yeah. but he can work for a brand as a sales guy.

there's no right or wrong way to get into sales of any industry. It's a matter of converting your network into sales. for example I know a tennis pro who left tennis and turned that network into yacht sales. I know a golfer who did the same thing. I started as a chef. I know many captains that became yacht brokers. Going to work for a brand is a good start. Not sure what you currently do but it's not like you wake up one day and say i want to be a yacht broker - it's a commission-based career and very difficult. I can't teach you how to be a salesman but you could go to some local boat shows near you and get to know people as a start. good luck.

@@MrYachts that’s excellent advice, and just the tips I was looking for. Thank you for the help! Hopefully we’ll run into each other at one of these boat shows. Living in Miami my whole life has shown me that there’s always a way to reinvent yourself and succeed if you want it enough. See you around 🤝🏼
