Oh, Masha! You are creating an incredible oasis on your property! I especially love that Mila has her own very special spaces, just what every child needs.
You said you don't eat the beans (I'm not a green bean fan either ick!), but do you harvest them and give to a friend who will eat them?
I love that you're taking your time and not afraid to change things up as you see what works for you. Can't wait to see how it all comes together as you continue filling up the hill. So peaceful and beautiful! Good for you!

After watching the entire video i have come to the conclusion that Maria has two ASMR channels - one intentional & the other, unintentional. I honestly haven't come across anyone who has a voice as effortlessly soft & gentle as her's.
P.S. Listening to you speak about how much you cherish your home & garden reminds me of a famous quote from The Hobbit:
"Farewell, Master Burglar. Go back to your books, and your armchair. Plant your trees, watch them grow. If more people valued home above gold, this world would be a merrier place."

Well done on your beautiful garden! The grapes along the back fence will look terrific. Just let the leaves fall onto the soil in winter. Don't worry about fruit trees not producing every year - this is quite common. The mandarin food might have promoted leaf and not fruit...check the bag. Love that pineapple sage. I have a friend with nearly 100 different sages in her garden! Your beans would be very delicious! Pick them small, chop and steam. 😋 When you bark the garden you'll find the soil condition improves and you don't have to water as much. Enjoy every minute in your garden!

I love your garden. I love seeing how you keep learning, trying, how you keep going even when things don't work out. In fact, I really needed to see this video right now. When you said you did many grafts but very few took, I realized I also have to keep trying and learning things in my own life. Not everything will take, but the ones that do will hopefully bear fruit and bring much nourishment and pleasure. Thanks for making this video and sharing your beautiful garden with us!!

Maria I love, love, love your garden. I am so envious. You have quite a green thumb. I, too, had a Barbra Streisand rose years ago. But where I live in Angels Camp we have no fences, so the deer ate her and about six other rose bushes that lined my driveway. So frustrating. I miss having color in my yard. When we lived in the Bay Area I loved my impatiens. But the deer love those here, so I can’t have them. :(
Enjoy your lovely yard. You’ve worked so hard on it, and it shows! Thanks for the tour.

That bed where you had corn and potatoes seems far too small for those. Maybe a couple of potato plants. Corn needs to be planted in multiple rows so it’s pollen can be spread by the wind amongst the stalks - so a plot of 5 or 6 short rows will produce where one or two rows will not, for example, but that bed doesn’t seem wide enough for any more than 2 rows.
and you don’t need to support the individual tomato branches as long as the central stalk is supported, and don’t prune the leaves. The leaves provide a bit of shade for the tomatoes do they don’t get sun scald. Looks so yummy!!! Fantastic job you have done!❤

Revisiting this so say cosmos seeds are very easy to collect at end of season to save for next year (zinnia as well). They just need to be an heirloom variety to make seeds that are viable (not sterile).
And seeds don’t need to be done indoors w lots of equipment etc. You can direct sow them outside and they produce fairly quickly. If you do want more controlled environments you can put them in pots w potting soil which generally produces stronger annuals and perennials for transplanting. Grew a bunch of different plants from seed and bare root this year in pots and was amazed how quickly thru grew. Saves money and there is just such satisfaction in watching them grow from babies that you cared for etc Probably be a fun activity for Mila too if she is into gardening as well...

Maria, with the sunbaked area of the hill, maybe you could install a shade sail there? I live in florida and we have one in our yard to allow for some respite from the brutal sun and the plants love it. Especially if you plan to have a tree there eventually it would allow you to plant for the eventuality of that area being in shade :)
