I read a lot of people, including me, saying How come I didn't know about Steel Panther before ?!! That's because, despite their age, the group only took off in 2008! Satchel and Michael Starr played the role of rockstars so well...that they have become real rockstars. Steel Panter is, in 2022, a very sought-after group. Cheers!
All of Steel Panther are experienced musicians with various levels of success in the past. For example, the most visible would be Russ Parrish, aka Satchel, who was guitarist for Rob Halford’s FIGHT, the band Halford started when he left Judas Priest. So, it’s not like they started cold with Steel Panther and spent 30 years as a garage band before making it big. That’s just in-character shtick. Steel Panther is, in fact, a new band, relatively speaking.
thanks for this interview. Michael Starr recently became my idol and his vocal skills became my aspiration as a vocalist. He is one of the best male vocalists outside of classical singing. I wish the interview was longer and had more questions about Ralph's personal story, his path of becoming a singer, some life stories, and the making of Steel Panter. Also, I felt that the Aussie question section was entirely irrelevant for the broader audience - that time might have been used to ask more actual questions. Also, I was wondering how do you even get people like that on an interview?
thanks for the comment. I do admit, those aussie questions were a bit silly. was just trying to have some fun. Calling Hugh Jackman a pussy I thought was classic. I got lucky with Michael as I bumped into him on the street in Newcastle. I've also interviewed other people I like and admire on other episodes. I've just reached out to people and they either agree or don't.
@@walters_tours thanks, Ben. I bet you could have never imagined that some young Ukrainian aspiring vocalist will be listening with both ears seriously to this interview during his gym workout from another end of the globe.
Michael Starr, whose real name is Ralph Saenz, is married to Jocelyn Saenz who appear to have three children. He was speaking in character when he said he loves then moves on.
@@walters_tours great job with this podcast btw. Very few have gotten Michael to open up the way he did. In an interview or podcast setting I don’t think he’s let it out there that him and Satchel surf.
@@TheReal_DeanD Interviewing is a skill i'm still working on, so it makes me smile to read that. I had no objective in the chat other than to talk life on the road.
Michael Starr is like Batman. He tries to hide his identity so he can protect his loved ones. Michael Starr is a rock hero 🤘Now please delete your comment 😁

they persisted until they made it. it's well done

Nice interview, Got to talk to Ralph vs Michael. It’s always nice to see these guys talk out of character and you see how genuine and smart they are.
He’s got a lot of grey matter between his ears

@@edwin-jq4dp never would have picked that. I thought listening to steel panther would work better at the gym.

Your comment should be pinned top the top. Thanks for putting this out there.

Steel Panther rocks! MS is tremendous, hilarious and a great singer.
100% he is
Great interview!
thank you
Awesome interview! One of the few interviews where he actually broke out of character a few times and told some real stories.
glad you enjoyed the chat. I guess he did break character.
I wonder if we'll ever see Satchel out of character.
Please move to the Gold Coast!
Or Newcastle ;)
