I recently got into a pretty bad mtb accident and I was wearing the WaveCel blaze. I have no doubt that it saved me from a serious brain injury. I ended up with a “minor head injury” according to the doctor which was really just a headache for a couple days. If your wondering if the steep price tag is worth it, I would say without a doubt.
Dont know if you guys gives a damn but if you guys are bored like me atm then you can watch all the new movies and series on Instaflixxer. Have been watching with my brother during the lockdown :)
I started with a Bontrager Solstice and had a hard crash a year ago and definitely got a concussion. After that, I bought the Bontrager Specter with WaveCel tech. Just past a year, today I had another hard crash: biofilm on a curvy boardwalk flipped both tires right out from under me and I had the same impact on the same side, whiplashing my head to the ground. It really smarted and I have a bruise to so for it, but it was nothing like my experience with the Solstice: if I have a concussion at all, it is very slight. There was no question I had a concussion after my accident wearing the Solstice. And as you have pointed out, the helmet is now toast: I am totally fine with that. I am going to buy another. Concussions are a really ugly thing to experience, not too mention you should probably go to the emergency room and make sure there is no internal bleeding (I did that). I strongly recommend not skimping on helmets: that is the single piece of gear not to go cheap. I am a believer in the WaveCel technology.
This rings close to heart. I got hit by a car 2 weeks ago and the Bontrager Solstice was my guardian. I landed on the back left of the helmet. It has cracks and all through it. I got an upgrade to this helmet through my LBS and the Crash replacement guarantee that Bontrager has. I suffered a nasty concussion too, and I did exactly that and went to the emergency room and got a CT scan because the symptoms were very serious with my vision and my skull was extremely swollen. Thankfully I did not have internal bleeding, though 2 weeks later and my head is still not 100% back to normal.
"testing" by putting it on and shaking the head isn't much of a test.. You just managed to prove you selected the correct sizes. I do understand how it's hard to test helmets, but if you're not testing them, don't claim you're testing them.
I recommend people to get the visor equipped one because it is removable with a flat head screw driver with the screw and both sides of the helmet. It's just good to have when you have that helmet
Dude combining this with MIPS would be AWESOME, AM i the unique one that thinks that? the cells would compress slip and then if they are attached to MIPS the compressed thing would pull the mips, that would be GREAT!
Not sure they would actually work together. The help with mips is the fast nature of the mips slipping (they tout something like 15 ms). If you attach that to a crumple system you would be [I would assume] dampening the response. Not sure though, just my guess.
I have been wearing the Charge for a couple weeks. It is lighter and better-vented that I was expecting. Now, if somebody could just tell me how the hell to get the magnetic light clip on the back to detach I would be even happier. Anybody?
I have been wearing my Charge the past couple of weeks in mid-90-degree heat and dew points in mid 70s here in KC and have had no problems. Actually vents as well as my old Solstice I would say.
Hi guys, in the video you mentioned that the Blaze is on sale at 240 but I couldn't find any info about it, would you be so kind to let us know where can I find it at that price?, thanks a lot!.
People call my friends and I crazy for skateboarding down steep mountain roads at speeds of up to 60+mph while wearing a DOT-approved full face helmet and tight fitting leather suit, but I think it's insane that any cyclist, amateur or pro would strap a small piece of aerodynamic styrofoam to their head and ride a two wheeled vehicle alongside motor vehicles and distracted pedestrians. It's mind boggling how far modern cycling helmets have fallen behind because of human vanity and the fear of getting a "wet head." Cyclist are a funny bunch. Get hot and sweaty or spend the rest of your life (if you live) in a wheelchair? It's a no brainer. Get It?
Probably because you think DOT means anything. DOT standards are decades out of spec, you want to look into more modern standards and stay well clear of any helmet that can ONLY tout DOT. It is at this point in the game basically below the bare minimum, would recommend watching fortnine's videos on the subject.
how the fuck are these guys supposed to actually "test" the helmet? Purposely crash their bikes going 30mph and smash their head on the ground just to give you guys a "real review"? lmao.
Wave Cell is new technology and like any 'new' technology it gets debated. Over the shoulder seat belts were debated. The MIPS liner was debated. MIPS is better than no MIPS, but is that all you need? The Wave Cell structure can collapse absorbing both the rotational and linear energy that can't be absorbed by Styrofoam alone or with the MIPS liner. I spoke with a rider who suffered a number of concussions in high school sports. He had bicycle accident. He stayed conscious through it all and had a concussion evaluation (test). Research shows linear and rotational acceleration occur at the same time in nearly all occurrences of a concussion. After the test, no concussion, they said he must not have hit his head that hard. They changed their mind when he showed them his helmet. The wave cell section was crushed in too large an area to be a simple linear impact. The Wave Cell helmet absorbed linear and rotational energy. Ventilation has no effect on safety. The Wave Cell I own is the same model as my MIPS version. The slots are the same. My Wave Cell has been cooler than my MIPS. It goes against logic but there is an aerodynamic reason for that. That was not part of the safety design. It is a side effect. You want a cheaper helmet? How much is your brain worth?
Do you think a MIPS helmet wouldn't do as good a job on that particular impact with the MIPS Liner absorbing the rotational force and the EPS absorbing the linear?

@Terrance Aryan yup, have been watching on Instaflixxer for months myself :D
What happened exactly?

Exactly🎉
How is the ventilation?
Well, if you take a fall on any bike helmet it's toast - or should be. "Use once and throw away".
Could the Bontrager Charge WaveCel be used for hours of road cycling in the summer? Or would it be too hot?
I recommend people to get the visor equipped one because it is removable with a flat head screw driver with the screw and both sides of the helmet.
It's just good to have when you have that helmet
Im thinking about buying a Hövding bicycle airbag. This helmet is cheaper, but i miss the neck stabilisation.
I have a Bontrager Rally and it's the most comfortable helmet I've worn.
I have the older mips version is it worth the upgrade?
No. Wavecell hasn’t been proven to be safer

The Charge actually vents well?
One of our favorite things about it!
@@Gearjunkie cool (literally and figuratively 😉)

$150.00 at petribikes.com (my bike shop) purchased today 7/20/2019
On the cyclists helmets must throw a load of 22.5 kilograms from a height of 180 centimeters. That's how bicycle forks are checked.

Looks cool in blaze orange.

Didn't even test it jeeez wtf

Its actually not the safest as MIPS have tested higher and hold top 7 spots
MIPS are good but wave cell is better I broke my back and I landed on my hard and I had mips but I cracked it
This is a garbage review I would like for you to actually use it and then come back with the review this is more like a unboxing
Review of how they "feel" hahahaha what a joke man😅
