  • Nita Strauss | What's In My Gig Bag
    Maiden, check. Kiss, Check. Alice Cooper, check. Nita Strauss is the ultimate shredder, she's done it all and now she's launching her debut solo album, "Controlled Chaos". Nita stopped by to show us her new Signature Ibanez and do some shopping. We talked working guitarist essentials and she gave us a peek inside of her gig bag.
    Strauss started touring with her own band as a teenager, leaving high school in her junior year to pursue music full time. Although initially known for her work with Iron Maiden all-female tribute band The Iron Maidens, Strauss’ career has included performing with several rock ensembles including Consume the Fire, Femme Fatale, and the video-game supergroup Critical Hit.[4][5]
    In 2014, Strauss was the official in-house guitarist for the Los Angeles Kiss (LA KISS), the arena football team owned by Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of KISS. The house band played the national anthem and provided additional music during the games.[6]
    In June 2014, Strauss was hired to replace Orianthi as Alice Cooper's touring guitarist and play the remaining 2014 tour dates.[7][8] She has toured with Alice Cooper ever since.[9]
    Strauss is featured as the main guitarist for seven songs on Docker's Guild album called The Heisenberg Diaries - Book A: Sounds of Future Past, released on January 21, 2016.

    As Nita is a touring guitarist she probably set the amp up for stage tone. For those who don't play live with a band the tone you would use live with a band often doesn't sound the best when played by itself. Her tone is shaped to cut through in the mix. She didn't scoop the mids and crank the gain like a noob. Good job nita

    Nita is very open minded, smart girl who learned much to better herself. Also has a very pretty voice that I've heard sing in back-up shows. Bright girl with a lot of never seen before ideas/variety. Never left planet earth upon arena level profession, still as nice as she always has been.

    Tube amps or bust. I know it's fun to have versatility but nothing beats the organic feel of a tube amp. Thats just my opinion. Thanks for sharing Nita. You rock!

    I must be doing something wrong. I’ve never cut a string before putting it through the bridge... I do however cut them from the tuner.... and a woody 🤔

    • @markgueren9633
      @markgueren9633 5 лет назад +2

      Andrew Lopez some tremolos require you to cut the ball end off.. it gets clamped in the bridge..

    • @duosonic391
      @duosonic391 5 лет назад

      Yes, as Mark said, most double locking tremelo systems, Floyd Rose, Ibanez Edge and Edge Zero, require the ball end of the string to be cut off and then the string is clamped or locked into the tremelo. Ibanez did have the Edge Pro I believe that did not require the ball to be cut off, but the string is still clamped into the tremelo...
      The Woody is one of the most recent Ibanez JEMs, JEM77WDP model designation. The JEM line is Steve Vai's signature series. The Ibanez JIVA10 is Nita Strauss' signature.

    Nothing against her but that amp sounds so garbage.

    • @mercuryfaith
      @mercuryfaith 5 лет назад +4

      Longneck Outdoors CO
      Probably that shitty sound comes from the "V" eq. style with no mids (typical of her tone). The guitar is an instrument that has a lot of mids, if you cut all mids you lose many natural features of a guitar
      . On modern or metal amps that equalization can also work but on classic amplifiers...well...you make Jesus cry!

    • @richardjones2811
      @richardjones2811 5 лет назад +2

      @@mercuryfaith No it's because it's a shitty digital Amp hence why it sounds so digital!

    • @mercuryfaith
      @mercuryfaith 5 лет назад

      @@richardjones2811 I tried a marshall code 100H with marshall 4x12 cab and it's a very good amp for the price. The problem with modern digital amp isn't the shitty tone but the lacks of dynamics response. Basically you have the same dynamic even you play with the fingers or if you play very soft making difficult to bring out the personality of a guitarist...but the tone you can achieve nowdays it's impressive...even on the cheap stuff. For me that shitty sound comes from the "V" eq and maybe with the mics position (maybe too high). If you listen her work...basically she use the classic 80s tone. A LOT of gain with NO mids.

    • @richardjones2811
      @richardjones2811 5 лет назад

      @@mercuryfaith I'm not buying it. Once you've played a valve amp you'll understand

    • @mercuryfaith
      @mercuryfaith 5 лет назад

      @@richardjones2811 I know...I am a proud owner of an Orange Dark Terror and..... a pure valve black beast! Today, with less than $ 400 you can buy a REAL tube amp so even for me there is no comparison with digital amps. After a few years of domination of digital amplifiers, we are returning to the old concept of a perfect combination of the two worlds...REAL tube amp for perfect dynamic with digital logic for better control for live and studio situations.
