The reason you're hole for the winch doesn't line up is cause you welded the receiver backwards & a battery box on the support right under it & a solar charger would be a great upgrade
You are totally right on the winch hole, luckily I will say I didn't weld it that way myself lol. I just drilled a new hole and it works fine. I didn't think about a small solar charger for a battery there. Great idea! Currently I just have an old battery in the box.
Great video brother. I just got a steal on a 7 by 12 trailer for $80. The frame is solid just needs a few things here and there this video helped us a great deal thank you
I ran battery cable wiring from the truck battery to the rear bumper / trailer hitch area and put in a quick connect plug... and then installed the other half of the quick connect plug to my trailer winch... that way I have access to the battery for power and can run the truck to charge it while using it with having to run massive cables to the front of the truck every time... or having to charge a trailer mounted battery every time.
If it was me, I would reconsider using the winch mount on that trailer. That mount puts too much leverage on the mounting location because it is at least a foot from where it is welded to anything solid on the trailer. It would be a lot safer and stronger if the receiver tube was welded to the piece that comes right off the frame of the trailer that is at the very bottom of the uprights. The absolute last thing you need is that mount snapping off under load and sending a 90 pound winch flying towards your head or vehicle.
Looks great! Could I ask, what is the year make and model of this trailer? I have one that looks similar but all of the info is gone and I'm thinking it may be from the same builder.

@@Room1sixtyfive lol right! In my defense I didn't weld it up, but I appreciate you looking out for me! Thank you for watching.
Welded the hitch bar backwards that's why it not lining up. Cool vids keep on keeping on
Sharp eye man! I noticed they had it welded on backwards soon as I tried to get the pin thru like a dummy lol. Ended up just drilling it out to work.
I literally just bought the same D rings and Vulcan tie downs from Amazon last night. I subscribed
Thanks for watching David! I've hauled a few trucks with them so far and no issues.

That is an awesome deal! Good luck on getting it fixed up, thank you for watching!

That isn't a bad idea man, thank you! Right now I just have an old battery in the box I hope get whatever up before it dies lol.
Good stuff man !!👍

That is absolutely not bad advice at all man, thanks. May have to look into that when the weather warms up.
YEA WINCH NEEDS TO BE LOWERED....
@@pigeondrama It's on the To Do list eventually. Thank you for watching!
Great channel you got here man!
Hey thank you for taking the time to check it out! I appreciate it.
@@CLASSICSAREBETTER np!
Got that old trailer looking great! Too bad the paint isnt holding up
Thanks buddy, I was really surprised it started crapping out so quickly, thinking maybe next summer I will hit it with bedliner or something.
@@CLASSICSAREBETTER I need to paint my trailer too and wheels but I know a guy that has videos that can help with all that 😏

Thanks for watching! It is a 1992 Eagle Trailer Co, Inc 7000lb GAWR trailer.
I like doing trailers
Where did you get the tire covers?
I found them on Amazon
You are very mechanical. Great job …
Thank you!
Never drill in the top or bottom of a frame. It weakens it.
It's cus the mount / receiver is backwards
Yes sir, noticed that, wish whoever welded that on had paid attention, but I just drilled a new hole and it works fine.
Easier & faster to drill a hole in the stake pocket.
That winch is WAY TOO high !
I don't really disagree on either point lol. Thank you for watching!!
Those D ring welds look like crap.
Few classic trucks in and they have been just fine, but ya I agree they are from amazon, you get what you pay for lol.
