Hey I’m looking at ordering a potentiometer on Amazon it has 3 wires coming off of it. Red, White and Black. Red would be 12v which wire would be for the tach itself White or Black?

Hi what kind of resistor you use?

The resistor I use for this application with a relatively cheap SunPro 3" tachometer is a 4.7k ohm. Color code is yellow, purple, black brown, brown. Actual resistance on this specific resistor was 4.713k ohms. It seemed to do the best for a smooth transition as engine rpm increased and decreased.
