- So many of us live our lives always longing for more: more money, more home, more status, more likes, more success. We believe that if we have a little more, we will finally be happy. But the very nature of “more” is perpetually elusive.

Through most of my life I struggled with LOW self esteem, mainly because everybody around me kept putting me down, including family. This led me to seek happiness and validation through material possessions. I can truly tell you
that Joshua's words here are wise and correct. Wishing everybody a Merry Christmas and thanks for posting this.
sorry about that it's sad that your family did that too people should seriously have a filter. Merry Christmas!
@@misssicily100 We all say things we don't mean to sometimes, but I survived. I've kinda gone full circle from a poor kid with learning disabilities to a decent career and now retired.
Joshua hits on a lot of things that make sense to me now. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
I have two beautiful homes overflowing with amazing artworks and expensive furniture. The more I accumulate the more I want to accumulate. It has not brought lasting peace or happiness. In fact, the less I buy, the happier I am. It has taken me a lifetime (and listening to you!!) to finally understand that ‘enough is enough’. Less is more. Thank you Josh…❤
“He who knows he has enough Is rich” amen
"Enough is a reachable destination, but More is a journey with no end" That is a profound statement & so true. We need to find contentment in Life & be thankful for all of God's blessings. 🥰🥰 Maybe if you have more than what you need, give to those less fortunate & bless them.
Well said and God bless
Amen, Joshua. When my Hubby & I got married, he already had a 768 sq ft house. I always wanted a bigger house. 24 yrs later, we are still living in the 768 sq ft house & I'm so glad. It's pd off, manageable & I wouldn't want anything bigger. It took me a lot of years to be content with what we have. 😊
Be part of a cultural shift to simplicity. The more you know, the less you need ✨️
Love this video!!
Well done Joshua! I always look forward to your posts! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
The message I give myself is: I have enough. Shoes, clothes, handbags, furniture & knicknacks - I have enough. I am retired, I own my own unit and car, I can feed myself and my gorgeous cat, I have wonderful family and friends, I thoroughly enjoy my low-cost interests and hobbies. I have enough, and I am happy.
What we have now is what we used to think would make us happy! 😮
Such true words. It's all noise, when what we crave is peace and contentment.
I have always instinctively known this to be to be true but found myself swept along by parents, partners and society in general in the pursuit of more - the message being you're not enough. It's taken me till my 60's to finally live true to my own values that I have enough, and am enough, right now
Very true words, Joshua! Particularly relevant at a time when people give lots of presents. Presence might be enough. For example, with elderly parents🙂
I tend to feel rich in health & happiness, so feel no need, to chase for more.
Have a lovely Christmas all.
This echos what I have been talking about for years, 'enough'. I have enough and life is fine and I repeat it a lot to my family. I do not need anything fancy I just want my family close, roof over our head and food on the table. Our old car still works, so we are not 'upgrading'. Merry Christmas everyone.
There is no peace in more. Less inventory brings clarity❤
The relentless pursuit of more obscures our arrival at enough.
Yes! Unhappiness, generally, comes from a lack of gratefulness. Look at what you have- not what you don’t have.
Hey Joshua, in case of money it often is neccessary to want more when you struggle to make ends meet or try to save a bit for retirement. Nevertheless you can apreciate what you have in your life😊 I wish you and your family a merry christmas, stay blessed and thank you for your content 🍀😊
When you're modest and humble it will helps you to be content.
I always say if you're not happy all the time. And you want more and more and more. There's gotta be a reason for it. And sometimes it could be because of an empty emotional need that is not getting fulfilled.
For me I started buying and I became a hoarder because I had a car accident. And when I bought all the time it took the pain away, it created endorphines.
But now that the pain is ninety eight percent gone. I'm stuck with all the stuff that I don't really need or want.
So be happy with what you have and if you find yourself wanting more and more. There could be an emotional need that is not being met. Maybe your lonely. Maybe you find it hard to communicate with someone. Maybe you feel no one is listening to you. In that case you need to get help. It could stem from something that happened to you as a child. It's hard to be content if you're covering up some pain and suffering that has to be addressed.
When you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes.
What I can't stand is when people go into a restaurant. And they order food and they leave so much on their plate. Or the murmur and complain about their food instead of being grateful that they can walk into a restaurant and order something.
I have always had more than enough. So glad to be on the minimal journey✌
I’m not sure, in the U.K. our bills are going up all the time, many are just surviving so I’m thinking many are selling their stuff from necessity rather than an idea of “enough”.
Loved this video and I completely agree Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Enough is enough. Stuff does not satsfy for very long.
Absolutely love your channel. So motivational towards my goal to simplicity.
So very true. This Christmas I'm living simply and am content with what I have. It's all that I need. Merry Christmas!
Good message Joshua. Thanks for sharing. You are appreciated.
Thank you Joshua. You always a blessing, specially in this season 🙏
So important to remember this time of year!! Thanks.
"Enough is a reachable destination but more is a journey with no end." What a great phrase! Thank you, Joshua, for sharing your insight with us. Merry Christmas to you and yours! May God's gift of Jesus Christ fill your hearts this Christmas season for He is truly all we need!
Happy Holidays to u Joshua & ur lovely wife and kids
I completely agree.
“Opportunity to serve others” truly brings fulfillment.
It depends... some others always want more of you.
I am more than enough. I have more than enough. These phrases have helped me recenter and refocus my life to be more peaceful. Thank you Joshua. I have enjoyed your messages and videos very much for a long time now. Happy Holidays!
A home is where your safe and want to be. Id rather spend time with my loved ones than maintaining a dust ranch.
Powerful message!
There are so few things we really need to get by. And the things that make life worthwhile can't be bought anyway. Merry Christmas to you.
Wow! Those last few words!😊
The thing about having less and being content is that it will be easier to lose something if there was a national disaster.
For example, people people who experience an earthquake or a tsuname or hurricane don't have much to lose if they had just enough.
So the less you have the less you're gonna lose in that situation.
But for those who horde and who have too much and some disaster occurs. Like a flood et cetera, then it's gonna be that much harder for them to cope because they lost so much.
I have friends in Africa. And I try to help 1 person and I can't give a lot. But what I do give does help feed them. And they have taught me a lot about not being materialistic. I mean, they have nothing. They just have decent decent, simple, clean clothing. And they make their clothes last and last and last.
They only have one pair of shoes. They only hone or two shirts one or two pairs of pants. And when it comes to furniture they may have in their Humble home very little furniture. And i'm learning something about what is more important in life.
And it makes me want to give more. Because I have an excess compared to them
I am so glad and grateful that God led me to your videos. You're a true blessing indeed Mr. Becker. There's so much truth and wisdom in your words. Thank you for all of the time you invest in making these posts.
Very well said, I step back and realize how very fortunate I am, I’m getting rid of things little by little,I really realize now about everything
I love this-/ and need to hear it over & over again!
Thank you for stating TRUTH so succinctly.
While this is a true and very valid statement, I believe it is something that needs constant working at .... as all around are family and friends in the pursuit of more, and some of them could be very well off - looking down their noses at our simplicity of enough.
The thing we need the most of, we get the least of, and the thing we get the most of, we need less of.
Yup I do thank you that was a good one. That last little list that you listed this everything that I have and I’ve really been enjoying it for two or three or four years.
Thank you so much Joshua and have a Merry Christmas you and your family God bless
Agreed.....well said...tks for sharing
What if it’s you want to declutter more
The outcome would be having less.
True wealth is your health and inner peace ❤

Very true
I'm happy with what I've got, my old furniture, my old car, I do not like change, it just makes it hard to sometimes find parts for my old white goods
Appreciate your message. It is always a good companion to the messages from my church.
Thank you Joshua. Learning to stay grateful is simply wonderful. Enjoy the festive season with your family ❤

The less you need, the more you have.
Lynn here more is stressful
Like a breath of fresh air ☁️
How do you decide how many you should have of anything, especially clothes and shoes?
That's a personal choice. I would say what you're comfortable with based on how often you do laundry, how much you struggle with getting dressed in the morning based your inventory (e.g. too much can be overwhelming), etc.
Thank you Joshua.
Thank you! ❤
Yes 🙌🏻

Wow that was a great video. Joshua can you advise on how we store books? As in, how many books shoulde we buy?
I'm not sure how to answer that questions. At least, not easily. Read as many books as you can (whether you buy, borrow, or rent). I don't see much need to keep books you don't plan to read again - it would be way better to pass them along to someone who can read them.
I think people keep books because they want to remember the experience.
I use the Goodreads app and that keep track of the books I’ve read. I’ve kept my absolutely favorite books (maybe 10-15) and the rest I donate
3 pairs of shoes. Need 2 for hygeine purposes; one to wear while one is airing out and drying. The last pair for special occasions.
I have at least 16 so I'm always trying to find the best spot to keep them.
