Exactly, Trump doesn't want to take questions, he could have a news conference anytime he wants to.
Impeached twice.
Lost the popular vote twice.
Lost the electoral college vote.
Lost the house & senate.
Lost his social media accounts.
Lost business deals & funding.
Lost control of covid19.
Lost his mind.
So much winning!!
I can tell you one thing - he never tires of lying.
I dispute "lost his mind". Trump never had a mind. Therefore he could not have "lost his mind".
I dispute "lost control of covid19" because he definitely helped it spread.
Lost business deals and funding would hurt him the most...
Won them all
Making threats against the lives of people and inciting violence is NOT FREE SPEECH. It is terroirstic tatics.
Not to mention it’s a private company so 1st amendment doesn’t apply. The first amendment is to protect us from the government not to protect the government from us.
Tech companies are private companies. "No shoes, no shirt, no mask, no service" so no dodo donny.
Yes All said and done except that Tech companies ie Social media has both thrived and made billions off of crazy ass headlines and ‘suggested’ links, groups etc
@@kimbernewman6403 They are afraid of lawsuits and more regulations now. Their only required goal is to make a profit for shareholders. First Amendment rights only apply to the government.
🇬🇧 They should be afraid because there is a desire to have Big Tech broken up regulated.

*Just watched Biden speak about his first 100 days in office and realize we’ve been without a President for the last 4 years!* 😳
"The president has a lectern in his house that connects to every media outlet in the world"...Mic Drop.
That was the point when I laughed out loud. I love this lady. 😆
I loved that line, “I don’t know if you know this but trump has this podium in the Whitehouse”.
Or he could get up on the whitehouse roof.
👏👏👏
Radio and TV and movies are regulated. The internet must be regulated also
Finally, someone else who gets it!
Inciting insurrection and violence can not be tolerated.
He can't walk down fifth ave and shoot someone.
He actually did do that... but it was the Capitol Bldg.
So cute line that completely ignores the horrific reality.
Can't the stable genius billionaire just build his own server farm?
he could but that's not the point of all this nonsense. it's all about control and power. this sorry excuse for a man cares absolutely nothing about what's good for anybody or what anybody else wants or needs.
is very existence depends on getting attention. without it he is nothing.
I think he's like the wicked witch and the cold water of internet bans is killing his power over the mentally ill
Trump isn't a billionaire. He rented out his name, to hang on buildings. All of his endeavors have failed. He hides behind this claim. So why is he always suing. Filing bankruptcy, and not paying his bills?
He is only good at playing, weak people, who felt hopeless.
Yeah if he was a billionaire. He’s probably a billion dollars in debt. And he can’t even run a profit in a casino. The stable genius
And have Mexico pay for it?
They should have banned that fascist 4 years ago

"When the looting starts the shooting starts" yes he did invite violence long before last week.

"LIBERATE MICHIGAN" tweeted to armed militias who surrounded the capital building in Michigan and when that didn't work ... They planned to kidnap their Governor and possibly kill her. All because Trump riled them up and made them believe he was on their side.

Wow! Kara Swisher is as sharp as a razor. This is real journalism. People should sit-up and pay attention to this lady. She really knows what she's talking about. Makes the reporters on CNN, MSNBC, FOX etc look like rank amateur talking heads.
"The poor information diet that these companies foist on everybody" is indeed a MAJOR problem. These platforms should be forced to take responsibility for what they publish.
"This is not a 1st Amendment issue but a business issue." - Kara Swisher. I also love how she equate socialism to forcing social media company to unban the president or anyone else.
Where kara swisher ended " there is no such thing as fully free speech " is where the American people should start. There is freedom and There is civility, consideration and concern for the other... Otherwise the claimed freedom will turn into a mess... Its exactly what we see now. Your freedom ends where the freedom of others start.
And it should end when one repeatedly abuses their rights.

Yes.
Thank you Kara for bringing up the deprogramming the cult followers.
That's going to be tough.
We really need to revamp our entire public educational system.
Most of those cult followers that were in the Capitol have been out of school for a long time. We do teach our children nowadays to be careful from whence they get their news and to check sources online. In fact, my young adult nieces are quite good at finding good evidence to back their claims.
"We really need to revamp our entire public educational system"...and THAT is where YOU become the problem. Mould everyone into your warped set of principles is how you'd have it.
@@simonhill1590 No it’s just maybe they need to be taught right from wrong and critical thinking skills. That would have prevented much of Trumpism.
Kara Swisher is incredibly smart I don't know of a prediction she has made that has not come true

Clinton in 2016...she got that wrong!
There are many other platforms available for communicating. 5:13 “The reason he doesn’t want to is because he gets pushback.” It’s not really a free speech issue. It’s more about an inability or laziness to communicate in the real world where other people also have a say in real time.”
Some people love the free market until it doesn’t work for them. Then they scream. There are many other platforms on the internet. Just use another one
Any platform, that invited violence, and allows comments that advocate for death of particular people, should be banned.
@@teresaburch23 yeah these people dont seem to get it though. Youd think people that work at a "news station" would be self aware enough to connect the dots between q-anon accounts being banned and their followers going down over night, but theres further proof that theyre just puppets for their masters. Millionaires funded by Billionaires, as some Dutch historian whos name escapes me put it
Great interview with lots of clarification around 1st Amendment rights vs. private businesses.
How many times have we heard from these downlow Trumper say "I would have never imagined it would come to this".
Lock him up
He deserves a long prison sentence. Possibly the ultimate punishment. I mean they did that to Charles Manson, another nutjob that made others do his bidding.
First they're locking him out. Twitter etc.
Using services like Twitter stops face-to-face talk or taking away the “personal” aspect. Or, the human part.
Maybe we need to teach people how to identify propaganda. Starting in grade school.
And how government works,u.s and world history, like how hitler rose to power. But all that only works with honest ppl. Someone who is radcalized in their family to be a racist,is ,in most cases not going to change because " school" said it was wrong. Many ingest lies willfully, eagerly,as well as the hate and violence
The Trumpists will probably launch a new platform of their own called Troglodyte.

I agree with Kara Swisher : social media users who believed disinformation need deprogramming.
I'm glad it was said. He can speak all he wants from his podium, and they are private companies.
HHEEYYY it's that lady from Silicon Valley
Seditious speech, insurrection and violence should be in the same category with child porn and torture and should not have a place on social networking.
I don't get how we as a society can really blame tech companies. The US public should be better at electing the right people in power in the first place.
I thought at least 98 threats of violence were found on Parler.
Would be interesting to see the correlation of "stop the steal" contributions and the volume of incitement.
Out the yin yang lol
Actually if he is cut off social media he still has national media and he will do whatever it takes to us it. Today he is here in my home state of Texas having a rally at Alamo Texas and you can be sure every news station will be there to cover it. He knows all he has to do is something outrageous and they will come. So get ready to see it on CNN , MSNBC all the others. They would serve us much better if they stopped giving him a spotlight.
Ahahaha, she said "out the ying yang"... I don't ever hear anyone but me say that
The average Human Being blinks 15-20 times a minute. Now back to you Kara

Kara Swisher is so spot on the truth with everything she said. 🤷🏻♂️
Violent insurrection is bad for BUSINESS!
I was so intrigued that people were swapping FB for Parler until I learned that it’s being bankrolled by the Mercer’s.
These are the same people who bankrolled Cambridge Analytica, folks. That says enough for me.

Our constitution and its Amendments may have been founded on Christian Principles which are largely ignored today. . .
Respect for Others
Freedoms to do what you want as long as you RESPECT other’s Freedoms
Freedom to practice whatever religion you wish
CLEAN, non corrupted government (14th Amendment)

Parler shame on you. Money is your only motivation
To be fair, it's not like Twitter or RUclips or Facebook are any different in that regard. And they helped and help spread the insanity more than Parler ever did.
Concepts like "free speech" are not supposed to mean "no accountability". It is actually more complex than that but that is a good starting point - I may say what I want, but I am then responsible for the consequences. Also, while I might have a right to say something, that does not mean you have a responsibility to provide me with the platform on which I say it nor does it mean others are required to listen to me.
Sadly, one of the greatest failures of the American culture [and of many other cultures as well] is that people want rights but not responsibilities.
Imagine someone like trump in space with nuclear codes and no precedent on Earth to protect against it. The Bigger Picture... 🤔🙏
that was a great interview
"Deprogrammed"!!! That's it! They need to willingly be deprogrammed if they want to be legally released.
Let's not ignore the public-forum aspect of the social web: Zuck and Jack became billionaires by capitalizing on a computer network that was built by taxpayer money for taxpayers' use. Swisher was being insultingly ingenuous with her solution of having other private companies create alternative public forums all the while dismissing Parler for having done just that.
The social web is just as deserving of governmental oversight as the airwaves once were, and for the same reasons, but we will all need to take better care and more responsibility than we did when we created the FCC. There is certainly no room for folks like Ajit Pai in such a regulatory future.
Where is he going to get his daily briefings now?
Social platforms have legal governmental requirements to be able to operate their platforms. One of those requirements is that those platforms are not to be a place where people can incite hate, racism or violence and failure to eliminate those elements then brings the regulators requiring them to act and failure to do so would mean they would be shut down. People trying to defend Trump need to accept that Trump and the platforms both have to abide by the country's media laws and what we see is social media platforms fulfilling their legal requirements. Trump has to abide by the law too but thinking he does not have to now realizes that he does and there is nothing he can do. Inciting hate, division, insurrection, sedition and riots is not free speech.
Many years ago when I was in grammer school a teacher was explaining the social economic class system. When he got to the upper class he said "the Joneses only talk to the Smith's and the Smith's only talk to God". Well the Smith's, our most powerful, have stopped talking to God, so here we are, Donald Trump is president.

Elephant in the room is that there can be No bipartisanship in Tec legislation if we do not have a realistic Republican Party .
Re: headline.
He thought that because HE COULD.
This man's violent rhetoric and breaking of under guidelines has been going on for years, unchecked.
He only suffered any consequences when the net loss started outweighing net gain for shareholders.
That is not something which should be the deciding factor for the shaping of public democratic conversation.
A discussion on how to legislate social media in a way that balances free speech and accountability is badly needed.
Shocking that someone as insightful as Swisher didn't think that Trump would cross that line. Once again, the "smart people" in America didn't see Trump as a sociopath who would do anything to remain in power!
Even if you can see where things are going, or think you do, it can be difficult to do anything before a line is crossed that most everyone can agree on. It's all very grey.
Presidents have a White House website and a press secretary. I think he has free speech.
When my niece lied..all privileges like cellphone were stopped for 3 months....Trump exempted!!!
This lady is so smart.
This really started with opinion broadcasts, tv and radio hosts who said anything they wanted without being fact checked or providing proof. Twitter and Facebook just extended that to the average Joe. I've always said social media is not "social." It's a platform to spew your opinions in order to get likes. It's like a friggin high school popularity contest.
I captured Lin Woods threat directed at Mike Pence that he posted on Parler before it went down.
Why take chances with people’s lives? Instead of telling people to not come to the inauguration this year, DO NOT GIVE THEM THE CHOICE.
Make the ceremony an exclusively VIRTUAL and private event, held at an undisclosed indoor location, that they can only see on television or online. Also, close the capitol to the public and protect it and those inside. This will save so much money and trouble -trying to protect everyone including the public from every possible threat that could arise and also would protect them all from more possible Covid-19 exposure.
Great guest. Very insightful.
And now he's a full fledged member of the losers club. 2 impeachments in 1 term and 1 year.
"An accomplishment like never been done before in all history."
Kara Swisher never fails to deliver a deep and expansive hunk of truth. I consider it a privilege to read and hear what she has to say. God bless, KS.
The world not to mention my day, is SOOOOOOOOOOOO much better without Trump on Twitter all day every day and the media not chasing Trump's BS lies down the rabbit holes. TheReaper!
The right to free speech doesn't extend to private companies media platforms
I can rant all I want in the confines of my own living room. What I CANNOT and will not do is incite, rant destructively or hatefully - using social media. I will not threaten to harm any leader (or for that matter anyone). Or take part in a planned mob whose intent from gitgo is to destroy or vandalize. That is a crime, period. Furthermore, as a mature individual (72) with a functioning brain and a free will, I do not need to be ADVISED what is the right thing to do. Or where my rights to free speech end. And insurrection begins. Grow the Hell up, people!
No such thing as "absolute freedom"exists in the solar system-even in the hypothetical where only one habits the entire system!
I beg to differ: once one realizes the exact nature of the self and that there is not two,and it’s not a “thing” , absolute freedom does exist; however, this is just my experience.
Right she is. Everything that goes to the extreme, goes to disaster. Parents are raising their children by restricting bad behaviour. If they let child out of control, child will grow up as twisted as would've been if restricted too much. These CEOs don't seem to understand that when they enable somebody to do wrong things, the effects of those wrong things will turn against them, too, at some point. There must a limit imposed for everybody.
As long as we break up the other big media companies also (in TV and Radio and newspapers, cable and phone companies). If you are breaking up online companies break up the offline ones also.

Donald how about you stop 'LYING"...and just admit what you did is wrong and apologize!
Mehdi, during the presidential debate Trump said “stand by and stand down “, they were waiting for further instructions from him to move on the capital
When are we going to realize that social media platforms offer nothing of value to our lives? Nothing.
Like all things, moderation is the key. Sometimes they help us stay in touch with loved ones who are far away, but we don’t have to allow it to take over our lives. That’s the mistake we make.
So right about the d-programming. People I thought were fairly sane are parroting Donald Trump and Fox word-for-word.
I am glad you mentioned Matt Gaetz. What a tough guy! Go back to Florida and take a long walk off a short pier!
That dude from Parler is a fkn liar. The cult absolutely used Parler to incite and egg each other on. He sickens me.
The technical details are not important. I code apps like these, it's not hard to add moderation, and "to mod or not to mod" is like the second question the coding team will ask you as you whiteboard your first app. If moderation is not there then that is because someone in the C-suite didn't want it there. These platforms are built to incite people, period. The answer is in the question; if you are having to ask why they incite people, it's because they were coded to incite people. The psychology of incitement is VERY well understood, FB and Twattter know EXACTLY what they are doing. They knew from the second day of whiteboarding their alpha app. These platforms need to be under court order to change or else they will not, and as soon as they are under court order they will change within a week. Change so fast you'll wonder what the problem was all along. The problem is they make money from incitement, and they make less money from having moderation.
@CougarW Thanks for your interesting post. Now I have to go and research the psychology of incitement.
Before Twitter and Facebook we had the media platforms of television stations and radio stations (as we still do). Did we think it was a violation of their first amendment when they refused to put someone on those channels? The whole argument of the first amendment just shows how little our population has ever read the first amendment.
Its foolish to say that competition will solve problems that are basically required to be regulated to level the civilian playing field.
the ultimate shame for Trump would be no televised interviews and no social media....... x
She has no sympathy for grown adults being unwittingly misinformed!?
So, it's the public's fault? She's not on the side of humanity, for sure.
Outsourcing law enforcement to corporations is bad. If people break the law it's the governments duty to prosecute. It's not the duty of Twitter, Facebook, Paypal or your ISP provider.
"Congress shall make no law" is NOT "Businesses shall make no limits"
