I cried as I watched that police officer fight off the mob on his own. I was terrified of what they would do to him if they got their hands on him. Then to find out he did it on purpose to lead them away and distract them from where members of congress were hiding so they could evacuate, broke me. A true hero in every sense of the word! He's still the president and therefore has immunity from prosecution under American law. The only remedy for an American president actively committing crimes is impeachment. I have a feeling our constitution may be getting amended some day soon but that's just a feeling, who knows. HOWEVER, once he's off the Iron Throne, it's going to be a short walk from the White House to the big house.

So glad this is coming out about the bravery of this black cop. At first people were pointing at the fact that he was running away, but it was obvious to me that he was not just escaping or else he wouldn't have 'taunt' and even went back to touch the protestors including Qanon hoodie guy. Give that cop a medal! Not only was he heroic, his life was on the line even more due to being black.

I am going to guess that a good portion of people in that group, could not identify more than 2 members of Congress, if they were looking at them face to face. Seriously. If they could ID even 2. They were all in danger, especially when adrenaline is pumping. If you look at video and still pictures, you can see the whites of people's eyes as they are looking around, hyper alert and trigger happy. All it takes is one person who IS willing to commit murder to elevate the mood to the next level and it's like a powder keg and all of sudden people who would not kill will start. Those didn't get as much news coverage as the Trump rally, but there is information about them out there, together with Don's social media incitements under the catchphrase Army for Trump.

There were like 5 officers standing in front of the guard rail in front of the steps. No match as the crowd gathered and started getting confrontational. We will see as the information comes out and internal investigations are done. Many in Congress are pissed, and this was in their workplace. They CAN get to the bottom of it.

Yes, authorities are discovering that many of those apprehended after the Capitol violence, most of whom have identified themselves as Trump supporters and Q supporters (sometimes both), were already on watch lists as white supremacists, some of them Proud Boys. There was great concern when the President made the "Stand back and stand by" statement Sept. 2020, instead of denouncing violence, many of the news agencies reporting it as a dog whistle (I agree that it was).
There is now also concern because Kyle Rittenhouse (recently turned 18) went drinking in a pub hours after pleading Not Guilty to murder charges and was photographed making solidarity hand signals with a group of white supremacists.
Guy had bombs in his car and left a gun in view on his seat blocks away from the capital lol guys sounds a few dimes short of a quarter.

Our Liar in Chief is being derelict in his duties. Think about this: I don't know how old you are, but if you are young, you can likely pull up old video footage, but I can tell you that in every national tragedy, that has horrified or scared America, like: The assassination of JFK and Bobby Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Financial crises, 9/11, and large scale shootings, the President has always come out and spoken to the people, to empathize with them, console them and reassure them. In something like this they would often speak at a press conference, then give the mic to other agency heads to present a united front and inform the public. 3 congressmen ,2 from Arizona and 1 from Alabama helped plan the Capital insurrection. Some rioters were given a tour of the capital building, which was closed to the public due to Covid, by congressmen on January 5th.

The reason this attack failed is because the leaders of the attack were inexperienced and unfocused when it mattered. According to other news stories the leaders of these groups that stormed the Capitol were given tours THE DAY BEFORE the attack. And the only way those people could have been in the bldg is if a member of Congress or their staff let them in. All public tours of the Capitol have been cancelled due to COVID.

The attack worked but not as it was intended.
Members of Congress have now been radicalized by violence. How many of them have shown themselves to be brave and principled people? I don't really know the answer to that... I do know that Congress as a body have failed to lead in the interests of the general public. Decades of giving tax breaks, supporting foreign wars and police enforcement over schools and infrastructure.
All of this has eroded trust and led us to the place we are at now. So, yes it appears many Republicans are guilty of plotting and setting in motion a terrorist plot to attack and kidnap opposition members of Congress. And they were able to do so because the Democrat Congresspeople have spent their careers focusing on their careers and their big donor interests instead of the majority of the country.
Republicans are the proximate cause.... but Democrats since Clinton abandoned the working class.
And the right wing of the working class just took a swipe back.

3:19 The hallway that Officer Eugene Goodman glanced at to his left has been reported as being where VP Half-Pence had been taken initially when he was removed from the Senate floor. This footage was shot about 1 minute after the door to his hiding place had shut. The officer was checking to make sure they were out of sight before leading the terrorist away from that area.
That officer's actions are heroic.

He specifically told that to the Proud Boys, when the moderator asked Trump if he would condem the group. It was a dog whistle, they took it as such and when he said "come to DC on the 6th," they figured that was what he meant when he said "stand back and stand by" He never said "stand down."
