how do i know what main bearings and rod bearings i need?

There are specific part numbers for different engines. What year and model is your engine that is being rebuild? If you need oversized bearings, your machinist will let you know how much material they had to remove from the crank in both the main and rod positions.

I am doing my own build but want to research the parts first... I have heard that the stock Subaru rods are good quality but the pistons are cast and they should absolutely be replaced, what about rings and bearings? I don't want to bore over the block or get some crazy piston over sizes.... what do you all recommend as a build to put out 300+ safely and with long life that will not break the bank?

Our stage 2 block is a good option for what you are describing. It will be able to hold 300 CHP - 400 CHP with no issues as long as your tune and modifications are done professionally. Check out our website for more information. www.nwrallysports.com

What size of rod bearing did you use? And did you use a brand new forge crankshaft? What's the measurements of the journals on the forge crankshaft?
    Thanks

Standard size King, Racing Series bearings were used with a new OEM 2011+ heat treated STi crankshaft.

Would've been cooler if you did an instructional video and not this fast fwd type video.
