The 2005 was the last car I ever bought brand new. God, I miss that car. People who knew what it was back in '05 would wanna' talk about it, ask me to open the hood, etc... For the winter I actually tried driving on the summer tires (DUH!). Even with the AWD it was like I was on ice. So, I bought a set of blizzaks and OMG, it was a beast in the deepest snow. I remember a car was stuck going up a hill and he was waving me down as to say "don't try this, you'll get stuck" well, I blew past him at like 50 miles an hour, LOL. I will never forget his face looking at me climbing the hill and turning his head to follow my path all the way to the top. He was amazed. The STi took corners so nicely. It was the ideal sports car especially for someone living in an area where snow is common in the winter like Philadelphia... Anyway, sorry for the rant. I just stumbled onto your video and it brought back some memories. Take care, -Eric 🏁
Bruh you deadass talking about cupholders out of the whole car and i think it dosent really matter cause i dont daily drive mine so like im not really worried about anything like thaf
I don’t see the problem. I’ve had a 02 and 04 wrx and currently have an 04 sti and they work just fine. The only drinks I haven’t been able to put in them are the small Red Bull cans which don’t fit well in most cup holders anyways and I can only put gatorade bottles in the dash cup holder since the console one is too small. But regular size cans, bottles, and coffee cups fit fine in both
Along with the Lancer EVO MR, the ‘04-‘05 STi were my favorite jdm cars of the ‘00 decade. 18 years later, these cars are still being built and a pleasure to drive. Thank you for the comparison video.
Man oh man I envy the body condition of your cars! Up here in the great white north with the amount of snow and salt put down the bodies just don't last.

Thanks & I didn't get into the mods in the video I'll be doing a video of my car later, the 05 is faster when it comes to Power, I'm Full bolt ons etc. & the 2004 has a rebuilt engine with a stage 2 short block & just has a Cat-Back Exhaust, everything else is Stock
What's the red switch next to your headlight adjuster thing on the left side of the steering wheel by the door in the 05? I have the exact same one in my 05. It was there when I bought it but I can't tell what it does. I figured it's from the previous owner but I'd like an idea as to what he used it for. I'm guessing fog lights that he removed or something when I bought it.

And finally on the doors, the 04 says Subaru tecnica international in a straight line, whereas the 05 says Subaru tecnica with international written below that
Hey, guy. I have GX 05 Auto SOHC... Can I swap the STI engine DOHC (from the Damaged Car, cheap) to my GX? What is a major thing to complete swap? Thanks
1:15 the running lights in the rear tail lights are different did you switch them or something or did it come that way (white STI) I love the round lights lit up
Just something so sexy about the 2005 sti I just can't seem to stray away from them trying to save money for one lol I love the white especially at sunset it just looks sooo clean
It's not a different part you just switch the bulb (with plugs obv) facing the inside of the car with the middle bulb. In this case looks like the now middle and formerly inner bulb was left unplugged. Or he could of just bought actual tail lights with that spec and wasted money.
I have a question and no one seems to answer it yet they swear by it is that the STI require high amounts of maintenance which makes them expensive? But what maintenance specifically what exactly has to be done and how often ? Thinking about getting a 2005 sti and wanna know all the maintenance on them thanks
blakestilltippin Good question! I'll let you know what I know of "High Maintenance" is, basically saying having Quality Oil, doing your Oil change on Time & checking your Oil Level, coolant Level, Brake pads, Tires, Insurance on car can be High, radiator flush every 30k, brake flush 30k, Trans & Diff flush every 30k, Spark plugs every 30k, its great to have fresh fluids to be safe and it's good for the car and other stuff that pop out like other things it's a car things happen to them and the gas mileage but again it's a performance car it's not a civic or Prius for fuel economy, Mods are expensive & make sure to have money saved up if you brake something, if you are a calm driver don't abuse the car it will take care of you and maintenance up to date and driven properly you would be fine, STI also keeps its value so that's why their also expensive & it's a blast to drive and getting a stock STI is always good so you know what you want to do to the car and know everything is stock meaning it hasn't been touched, Hope that helped you so good luck on getting a 05 STI 👌🏽
I have an 05sti that I have owned since 07. Custom tuned stage 2. Pretty low mileage around 50K. But the maintenance over that time....... Maintenance. Several oil changes. I have changed the trans and diff fluids twice....coolant twice....on third battery......on third set of spark plugs. Replaced brake pads once....tires 3 times. Repairs. Replaced blown out clutch and flywheel....had timing belt done....replaced leaky cam seals at that time too. Replaced water and oil pumps at this time too. Car gets roughly 18 mpg mixed city/highway. These cars totally hold their value. Have been at the same price for the last few years
I'm a Subaru tech at a dealer basically its really just your routine maintenance. Stay on time with oil changes make sure everything for fluids is maintained tires need rotating everytime when its time to change them always get all 4 done always. Do major services on time have a professional shop with certified techs quality parts and products do your work, you will be good it's actually simple shit to keep one up.
Jc Kameka The JDM v7 Seats are much better in my opinion compare to the USDM ones because the v7 are much tighter, good for the track and fit you much better and more Narrower, I feel like the USDM have no support
Carlos Galo I almost made the trip to go buy some the other day from a guy on Craigslist , guess I'll buy them now , BTW love the vids man keep them coming
Carlos Galo hey I was thinking you should probably do a review of the v7 seats compared to the usdm since your cousin has the 04 sti , there's no videos on RUclips of anyone going over that seat in dept
05 is the better car, but nah those cup holders work just fine. All regular size bottles, cans, and cups that’d you’d get for coffee or soda work fine in both of them
The JDM STI model 2005 may be the better Sti than the 2004 Sti because the 2005 model seems to be a 2 litres turbocharged, spec c widetrack and it may have the best stroker kit in the market of 1.5 liters !
Thanks for this man. Have a '16 WRX and would still consider selling it for an 05/06 or hawkeye STi. Beautiful cars. I love my more modern interior, but I still get a chubby for those older interiors. The blue trim makes makes my nips a little harder than they should be.
Finally someone that actually sees the beauty of these models. I have an 07' Satin White Pearl Hawkeye with the blue Alcantara interior. Really beautiful and it's the shade of blue that only a Subaru could pull off for an interior. Remember the EVO 8s with the blue Recaros? Yeah. Nah.
Great video I am leading towards the 05 now just because of the wheel bolt pattern and the few differences that make the car a bit better like the steering wheel and black housing headlights
2.0 l has the way better engine, but yeah...keep moaning about the cupholders. If you want to drink coffee all day long, buy a ford crown victoria, it comes with 8 cup holders or so. If you want to drive a rally car, buy the 04 model. It comes with forged pistons and 2 cupholders which is more then enough since you're driving alone most of the time anyway. Maybe also get the 05 headlights cause they're sick.

Both are fantastic vehicles but the 05 is a better all around package, while the 04 is a more barebones performance car. Currently saving for a 2005 STI, wish me luck!
Jdm jay usually the newer wrx’s used are 20,000 and up depending on who you are buying from. Also the wrx is not turbo charged and has a smaller engine then the Sti.
I’m just about turning 14 and when I do I’m gonna work my ass of. Here in NV you can get a job at 14 at curtain places. After doing the math I can make $20,000+ over the next two years. Once I’m 16 I sure will have a nice as STI. Wish me luck y’all!

Are there 2 iterations of Blues for the 2005 sti. I found with 40k miles on it for sale, but it looks a lighter color.
Basically the 2005 Model is in 06/07 with the only difference it having a "Blob Eye" front end, the 2005 Model in Japan is already the "Hawkeye"
The European market and eastern market get the ej207 though which is a more solid engine.
