Manny's mother was in a tv series called one foot in the grave as the long suffering wife of the grumpiest man in the world Victor Meldrew 1990. and Manny's Dad was in 'Allo 'allo as German Captain Hans Geering 1982. Allo allo was a comedy series about the occupation of Germans in France it made fun of the British the French and the Germans. i still watch it to day and love it.
Annette Crosbie, who plays "Moo-Ma" was the patron of a Greyhound Rescue charity I'm involved with. Met her a number of times and she's a lovely lady. This is in no way important information, but I've inflicted it on you all anyway.
“Annette Crosbie, who plays Moo-Ma was the patron of a greyhound rescue charity I’m involved with. Met her a number of times back in 64, or was it 63, no 62. I had the Hillman, so it must have been 64 as I didn’t buy it until, no wait, 62 is when I got the Hillman, I bought it from……” Sorry 😂
Annette Crosbie playing Mannys mum was hillarious in Afterlife as someone in a care home reaching her 100th birthday and getting a card from the Queen.
"Is Australia OK?" We've been asking that here in NZ for years :) Moo-ma was played by Annette Crosbie who's been a regular of British sitcoms for decades. Moo-pa was Sam Kelly, who was in hilarious long-running sitcom "Allo Allo". It started with a simple idea - a French cafe owner helping the French resistance while his town was overrun by German forces - and became more and more ridiculous and convoluted the longer it ran. Worth a look but because there's one continuous storyline and a lot of running gags, you'd need to start at the beginning...
The under-the-table bar is one of those things that has stuck with me ever since watching the show the first time. It's the kind of daydreaming genius that isn't usually useful in real life, but it works wonders here.
When you started watching the first season I was like I can’t wait until they see the episode with the bar under the table, wasn’t disappointed by your reaction 😂
The “shadow man” is a character from a recent comedy stretch group the show series is framed like a 90s kids show with a cult background horror, he’s played by mark banano from aunty Donna
I really want to see your reactions to Garth Merenghi's Dark place. It was the starting block for many of the team responsible for The IT crowd.. But its totally different.
The late and truly great Sam Kelly as Moo-pa there, one of those actors who always turned in a good performance, no matter what he was in - thoroughly nice man too. And Annette Crosbie as Moo-ma, showing a range way beyond "One Foot In The Grave" (which as a show might be worth a reaction)
I'm with king boomer there, you be on time. Also I hate it when people say they'll be over some time this afternoon etc. When? When?! Give me a bloody time and then turn up at that time, or don't bother. I've become a grumpy old man haven't I?
Sam Kelly, who played Moo-pa is one of my all-time favorite comic actors. His part in 'Allo 'Allo is legendary. Also, you sadly missed the far better line than "who shaved me?", the following "who washed my suit?" before Bernard emerges with an all-white suit, implying the black color is nothing but dirt/smoke/filth.
For years my answer phone message is me answering the phone and saying "Hello?... Hello?... Hello?... Hello???" then a pause.. Then me telling them I can't hear them, and that they'll have to leave a message at the beep. I refuse to change it now. Especially since so many people complain about it always catching them out and ask me to change it.
As a parent in my 50s I remember the days when I couldn't wait for my parents to bugger off, or let me bugger off out when I was 20. I now have kids in their 20's and its actually quite funny seeing them try to get away from you asap while trying (and failing) to be cool, sauve and polite about it 😊😂😂😂
If you like sit-coms that often end up in wild situations, you'll probably like one foot in the grave. (you might remember the show mentioned in a father ted episode) I havent heard of shadowmen, but for some reason it reminded me of the phantom raspberry man from the two ronnies sketches, probably plenty of clips of those
If you like Hug the Sun, The guy who plays the shädowmän is in a comedy group called Aunty Donna. Definately give them a look, Some of their sketches are insane!
Very well known faces. If you remember the 'I don't believe it guy' from father ted, moo-ma played his wife in the original show. Moo-pa was a regular in 'Allo Allo', that was up there with Faulty Towers and Only Fools & Horses for me.
I organised a date once. It was in 1994 with this beautiful blonde woman. She was 21 and I was 23. Told her to meet me at midday at the upstairs cafe at Freshney Place mall in Grimsby (Yes, THAT Grimsby) Checked my watch at 12:01 and she wasn't there. Got up and went home. Her loss 🤣
If you are looking for off the Wall Australian humour take a look at Aunty Donna (especially "Don't Get In The Kiln") or Nat's what I Reckon (especially "The Crowd Goes Mild Curry" his cooking tips got us all through Lockdown here in Aus!
Hail to the king and queen! I hope you watch the outtakes at the end of the season. Annette Crosby has a moment you really don't want a full bladder for.
I remember my time waiting tables. Never had something thrown at me, thank goodness. But if someone clicked or clapped or whistled? Guess whose tabled just got bumped down my list of priorities? You treat me with disrespect, you can wait. I have far politer customers who im going to go see first now. 😂😂
Even though I don't think this is the best Black Books episode, it does contain what I always thought of as the quintessential Black Books moment, where there is apparently another bar under the table. I always thought this was a special effect failure - originally I suspect the idea was that there is only one bar, the bar in the restaurant; and the characters under the table are simply accessing it by looking upwards from under the table. The bartender actor seems to be the same. It's just that the idea was infeasible to film, so they built the miniature bar.
The dad is played by the same actor as one of my favourite characters in the show Allo Allo which you’d absolutely love. British sitcom set in nazi occupied France with everyone doing stupid accents
Yep! I was unsuspectingly, psychologically pounded on just the other day with this fine Australian import 'Shadow Man'. There I was just scrolling through, minding my own business, then, pow! I mean WTAF?
QB: "If only there were some convenient way to transport water around the house, almost like the bottles which are used to contain many other liquids! But the engineering isn't in place yet! I can only pray that some genius in the future works out the near-insurmountable difficulties ..." 🤔
Based on what humour you seem to enjoy I'm really surprised you don't seem to have watched "One foot in the grave" the mother in this episode is one of the main characters
I've been enjoying this show with you guys! I never actually watched it before, in all honesty I'd say it's decent but not quite Father Ted standard, however I think this is the best one so far! I have just drunk a bottle of proseco to myself so it's possible my judgement is skewed! hehe , keep 'em coming Boomers, you are a lovely couple and I'd say your little one is very lucky, we don't all get great parents. xxx
If someone threw their card at me I'd pick it up and launch it across the restaurant. Doesn't matter where it lands, just far enough that they'd panic and run after it.
Dr Mexico? Yes. Mr Meowgi? Yes. Never heard of shadow man. But I don't watch much "commercial" TV, wouldn't be here otherwise. Should check out The Late Show, and especially the Doug Anthony All Stars (on The Big Gig if you're game).
Hi Boomer Family, Chris from Australia, that is one i haven't seen in Shadow Man, however i believe we are funnier than the Brits, shows like Full Frontal, Roy & HG (how i believe are the best), Comedy Company
Why haven't there been any Friday night dinner reactions lately? Is it due to the whole copyright situation you said about on your last fnd reaction or have you just not got round to it? Great Reaction muppets, This is probably one of my favorite episodes.
@@kevdoe3360 a scientifically minded young boy who was told this by his mother cracked only the fingers on one hand for 40 years to test this out and its bogus, no arthritis
The bar under the table is a shining reference. Barnard is losing the plot because of Mannys parents so when he deliberately drops his fork to escape them - hes having visions of being at a bar. Like when Jack Nicholson is fantasising about a bar tender serving him drinks and being sympathetic ear as he goes stir crazy
Given the Tom Waits style credits music I’ve always suspected it was inspired by this… m.ruclips.net/video/CWh4xHeFMIQ/видео.html&pp=ygUfdG9tIHdhaXRzIGkgZG9uJ3Qgd2FubmEgZ3JvdyB1cA%3D%3D

Both series worth checking out. Two of the funniest programmes ever made.
Also in Afterlife with Ricky Gervais playing an old lady in a home who refers to everyone as a cunt 🤣🤣🤣
Manny's dad also plays Warren in Porridge
Annette Crosbie.
I dooOONNT bee-lieve it !
He was in Porridge as well, another good show.
My two absolute favourite sitcoms in one comment.
Annette Crosbie, who plays "Moo-Ma" was the patron of a Greyhound Rescue charity I'm involved with. Met her a number of times and she's a lovely lady.

Sorry 😂
Brilliant actress in one foot in the grave
It's nice to hear she's lovely, I always kind of hoped she would be from the things I've seen her in. Just like Patricia Routledge too
Always loved Annette, Can't think of a single role she hasn't been fantastic in.
"Will there be parking?" is a legit question in the UK
This.
Even at a library, sometimes it's not a guarantee.
The first and third of the voicemails was Nick Frost.
Who did the voice of the "Man-ster"?
He has a role in an episode too, as does Simon Pegg.
The fact that Bernards suit is supposed to be white but is so dirty it became black is one of my favourite gags
The mum in this acted in a fantastic comedy in the 90s called one foot in the grave...another British sitcom...would love you guys to react to it
One foot in the grave is such a good show to react to. Allo Allo was also mentioned. I don't think anyone's ever reacted to that
It's bubbles of gas buildup popping when you crack your knuckles.
The sound produced when you 'crack you knuckles' is the popping of nitrogen gas bubbles.
Annette Crosbie playing Mannys mum was hillarious in Afterlife as someone in a care home reaching her 100th birthday and getting a card from the Queen.
Aussie fan here who has never heard of this "shadowy man" of which you speak.

Sam Kelly & Annette Crosbie, British Sitcom Royalty.

Was not expecting a Hug the Sun reference here. You gotta check out Auntie Donna, the sketch group that the Shadowman is part of
Annette Crosby is mannys mammy and is a major comedy actor in her own right from one foot in the grave.
Was about to point this out.
Cracking your knuckles is nitrogen bubbles popping in the fluid that lubricates your joints.
I love how literally you take this absolute madness.
For years my answer phone message is me answering the phone and saying "Hello?... Hello?... Hello?... Hello???" then a pause.. Then me telling them I can't hear them, and that they'll have to leave a message at the beep. I refuse to change it now. Bernard looks kind of like Oscar Wilde in that white summer suit
I love this episode for being the most unhinged of the series. The absolute absurdity is so fun.

Hug the sun is amazing! Really didn't expect you to bring that up!
I organised a date once. It was in 1994 with this beautiful blonde woman. She was 21 and I was 23. Told her to meet me at midday at the upstairs cafe at Freshney Place mall in Grimsby (Yes, THAT Grimsby)

Got up and went home. Her loss 🤣
I was on TV with Annette Crosby as a child actor. She is adorable.
@35:16 - The hurt in boomers eyes as he realised what he is. 😆
Great reaction and great insight into king boomers character with the timekeeping and cleanliness 👍😂
Do 'The Thick of It' next.
The mum actress is a Scottish legend! After life, one foot in the grave an actual Shakespeare performer!
I am definitely getting a t-shirt made with the slogan "Who shaved me"...
I'm Australian, and the Shadow Man is really easy to explain:
The bar under the table is genius 😂😂
Australian here, I had to search for the shadow man cos I had no idea. What the hell did I just watch🤣🤣
Great episode with some of Bernard's greatest outbursts. Annette Crosby and Sam Kelly are absolutely perfect casting as Manny's parents.
Scared of the Dark - iron Maiden - Great song
I hate having lights on all over the place in daylight 😂
At last! Queen Boomer in a video! ❣️
That`s Margaret from One foot in the Grave! The other dude was in Allo Allo as Captain Hans Geering
I was today years old when I realised “Bianco” is italian for “white”.
I just got the “black & bianco” books joke 😂

You kids make such a wonderful couple.. love to watch you two argue(?) much love ❤
Annette Crosbie is a great character actress. She may be the only actress who's played both Galadriel and Granny Weatherwax.
A random show from the UK that was a bit ahead of its time that you might like is “The Wrong Door”
I’m gonna recommend Murder in successville, I haven’t seen anyone react to that yet but it’s so good
The Mighty Boosh is something Queen Boomer might like for the randomness?
19:40 - "Like, how?" - You heard what Queen Boomer said, show us again, King 👀😳
Watch "One foot in the Grave" for more of Moo-Ma. It was a long running UK sitcom.
I remember my time waiting tables.

It’s aunty Donna adjacent if that helps you place it
You really need to check out Dylan Moran and Bill Bailey live shows 👌

But, hey, thanks for asking. People don't, often.

The Manster!
If you want to react to Australian programs then definitely look at Kath and Kim. It’s from a good few years ago but just silly and a good laugh

Please react to the father ted documentary. Its worth it after watching the entire series
