    Very clear explanations in all your videos. The bit that gets me is using email marketing and connecting up Teachable to my website. Another video on using your favourite email marketing platform would be useful and how to use the data bases. I just can't get my head around the parts, that's why Kajabi sometimes seems like a better option for 'dummies' or people who don't have the mental capacity to use multiple platforms!!

    Great Video. I had been sucked into the kajabi world and to be honest is much more confusing . Also a big turn off for me starting a new online course ( I have been on Udemy and Skillshare ) on my own site in Kajabi you have to put in a business address which gets listed on your sales receipt. So if you work from home ( I dont want my personal address to be public) so this would mean paying $20 a month for a virtual mailbox . So I'm definitely thinking of using Teachable after this !!

      Thank you and great question! It’s called your Teachable homepage, so it’s the primary domain to your school. You’ll find it in your Teachable account. I designed mine to link to the login page. To find the direct login page, it’s a unique URL for each Teachable school. So if you need help finding it, you should see it in your navigation bar or I recommend reaching out to Teachable support if you don’t see it. Hope this helps.

    Hello, I wanted to make sure a few things before I finally buy
    1. Is it possible for students to make a one-time purchase for the entire school, meaning access to the website itself, and from there all the content will be free to them? And don't buy each course separately
    2. Do you have the option to pay by credit card from all over the world?
    3. Is there a way to limit the users by IP address so that someone who purchased the school and logged in with the password will not transfer to someone else in another country?
    thank you

    Great tutorial!
    Can you clarify on @21:30? I'm kind of slow when it comes to website management. When you say you build your sales page on your primary website, are you saying that you're building parts of your website someplace other than Teachable, and then linking to the Teachable checkout page after they click on a course? So some of your pages are hosted by teachable, and others by something different?
    I didn't quite understand. Thanks!

    • @witandwire
      @witandwire  Год назад +1

      Yes, that’s correct. You can use your website platform to build a sales page, then the buttons on that page would link to a checkout page built with your course platform. You can see an example here: witandwire.com/course-builders
      (The checkout platform is witandwire.com/thrivecart)

    • @witandwire

    Create tutorial! Maybe you can help me: I intend to have courses in 2 different languages - Swedish and English, targeting an international and Swedish market. What is best practice - should I create 2 different schools - one English and one Swedish, or should I create 1 school but with 2 different categories for the courses - Swedish and English? Looking forward to your response! I have just bought the Basic suite.

    • @witandwire
      @witandwire  Год назад +1

      Great question. I don’t have a one-size-fits-all answer here, and I’m actually not sure what the best practice would be. I think it likely comes down to how your business operates as well as what Teachable (or any other course platform) is capable of, since it might be the case that each school (aka account) must only be in one language.

    Do you know if you can add in a true testing website (such as classmarker) to include better quiz and test features? Classmarker is amazing; creating question banks, quizzes, tests, reviews, etc..
    Does ANY online course platform offer this ability?
    What would be your other recommendations for other platforms that offer the course design features that teachable has (without being a programmer).

    • @witandwire
      @witandwire  3 месяца назад +1

      Great question. (And thank you!) I’m not familiar with Classmarker, but my hunch is that it’s more feature-rich than the quiz features in any standard course platforms. They usually only include basic multiple choice questions, and occasionally the ability to have open-ended questions or assignments.

    • @witandwire

      Great question! Courses are always restricted so only enrolled students can access them. And if you’d like, you can keep a course unpublished so that the only people who can find the signup page are the people you send it to directly. To further gate the course, instead of listing it for free, you could list it as a paid course and either enroll those students using a coupon OR you could manually add them. I hope that helps!

    Hi, I loved this tutorial. Thank you so much!
    Now I ask you a question, is it possible to change the language of the emails that are sent to my customers to enroll in the course?
    I have an audience that speaks Spanish, I look forward to your answer. Thank you!

    • @witandwire

      I’m so glad you found the tutorial helpful! I tried to do some research, and although I know Teachable historically claims to support multiple languages, I couldn’t find a specific article with clear instructions. I’d recommend emailing support@teachable.com to ask and see if they’re able to help.
      If not, I do know that witandwire.com/thrivecart has native support for Spanish and 10+ languages. You can check out my ThriveCart Learn tutorial here: ruclips.net/video/lPoPTvNoUxo/видео.html

    I’m about to cancel my Teachable plan before it renews because I’m not selling enough to cover the monthly cost.
    Other than telling the existing customers to download the course videos and assets, is there anything else that can be done to not screw over the people that have already paid and will lose access to the course?
    Thanks for the video! Very helpful

      I’m glad the video was helpful! I think it sounds like you’re on the right track, and although this isn’t legal advice - and I don’t know the terms & conditions they agreed to - I generally think that as long as you communicate and give people time to take any final actions, you should be in good shape.

    Hey friend! Thank you for the insight! Super excited about getting my course done and launched! Question though, what's the benefits of having two separate places to host website and then the course page? Other than it being a students hub only?

    • @witandwire
      @witandwire  Год назад

      Great question! A lot of businesses have a pre-existing website (using WordPress, Squarespace, etc.) and might not have a need to move their website. For those business owners, the tech stack approach is usually best.
      The other benefit is additional customization and flexibility, plus you get to use a page builder you’re already familiar with.
      We still like Teachable, but we also really like ThriveCart for those businesses as our best-value option: witandwire.com/thrivecart
      But for newer businesses, or for business owners who want to consolidate into one tool, we usually recommend what’s called an all-in-one course platform. Our favorite is Kajabi, and we have an extended 30-day trial here if you’re curious to check it out: witandwire.com/kajabi
      I hope that helps!

    Hi Melissa, was a very helpful tutorial. I would be grateful if you could help me with this question: do you know if Teachable can award a certification per track? I mean, if I have 3 marketing courses, A,B, and C, each one with its own certificate, then I want to give a certificate for having "completed" all the courses of the marketing track. Is it possible?

    • @witandwire
      @witandwire  9 месяцев назад

      Great question. I’m not 100% sure, but it likely depends on how you set things up in Teachable, as either one course or multiple courses. I think it might be a question their customer support team could better answer, but my hunch is that it will require a workaround unless you build multiple courses.

    Hello, first, I would like to thank you for the detailed tutorial. My situation is that PayPal and Stripe are not working in my country. For that reason, I'm going to use Zapier to create a sales page on WordPress and charge customers there. So basically, I need to create a button that will redirect customers from the homepage on Teachable to my WordPress page. Will I be able to create that flow? I mean, will I be able to close all courses and open them only for those who are enrolled through WordPress? Because in your tutorial, I see that you create pricing and etc. How can I skip that but still make the course available only for members? Thank you. I hope you can explain the process.

    • @witandwire
      @witandwire  Год назад +1

      Great question! I’m not an expert on payment collection through WordPress, but I do know you can use Zapier to automatically enroll people in Teachable courses post-purchase.
      So if the WordPress checkout tool or plug in you use is on Zapier, you can use that to trigger the Teachable enrollment action. The courses can be unpublished on your Teachable site, which will allow you to manually enroll people but would not allow anyone to sign up themselves. I hope that helps!

      Great question! It sounds like you might be looking for a different type of tool.
      If you want to create an affiliate program for others to market your online courses, Teachable can work.
      If you’re looking to create a different type of business or sell a wider set of products, ThriveCart (witandwire.com/thrivecart) might work.
      But if you’re trying to make an affiliate marketing website and market other businesses’ products or services, then that would be outside the scope of what’s covered here. I hope that helps!

    Thank you for this awesome tutorial, Melissa. I do have two questions for you though. Is there any way to add an image to the quiz block? Secondly, is there any way to randomize the order of the quiz questions each time?

    • @witandwire
      @witandwire  Год назад +1

      Great question! In Teachable’s native quiz builder, neither option is possible. (You can’t add images, nor can you randomize the order.)
      I don’t often include quizzes in my courses, but I do include forms and surveys, and to do that, I often use tools like Paperform (witandwire.com/paperform) or Tally (witandwire.com/tally). One of those options might be able to create a more traditional scored quiz, although it might not be what you’re looking for.
      Thinkific (witandwire.com/thinkific) includes images, but no answer randomization, and Kajabi (witandwire.com/kajabi) also has more extensive quiz customization than Teachable.
      I hope that helps!

      Course: one product you sell
      Section: a grouping of related lessons
      Lesson: a single video/lesson/concept within a section

    On your comparison page, you say, “Teachable's #1 advantage is their checkout platform (they're a Merchant of Record, which might be a must for some business owners). But over the years, they've increased price without increasing features, so I wouldn't recommend them for business starting today.” What is your number one recommendation for someone starting with their first course today?

    • @witandwire
      @witandwire  Год назад

      Great question. I don’t think there’s a one-size-fits-all answer, which is why I offer the comparison. (That way business owners can see which features are most important to them and make their decision.)
      But in general, as of the latest platform audit (summer 2023), I recommend:
      - For an all-in-one solution (with a website, email marketing, course creation): Kajabi, and I have an extended 30-day trial for W&W’s audience here: witandwire.com/kajabi
      - For anyone who wants the best value and already has a website (or plans to create one separately): ThriveCart (witandwire.com/thrivecart)

    how do you add to allow payment? Meaning how do you connect to your PayPal?

    • @witandwire
      @witandwire  Год назад

      Great question. There are two parts to this answer:
      1. You actually don't need PayPal in order to process payments with Teachable. They are a checkout platform, so you can use Teachable Pay to collect payments without connecting to PayPal. (That's my recommendation for most business owners.) You'll configure those settings during account setup.
      2. You _can_ allow buyers to purchase via PayPal if you use their BackOffice feature. This is for a slight additional cost and not necessary for most business owners. (In fact, I actively recommend against PayPal, but I'm not a lawyer, so this is not legal or accounting advice, and would chat with a professional if you're curious about what's best for your business.) But it's possible.
      I hope that helps!

      Hello! I'm not sure of the process you're following, but inside the lecture area, you'll want to drag the file you wish to upload to the grey file uploader. Alternatively, click the Choose files button to add files from your device. Also, Teachable recommends using either 1920x1080 or 3840x2160 (MP4, M4V or AVI) video, no larger than 2 GB. Generally, they also recommend that you compress your videos as much as possible. I hope this helps!
