Thanks for sharing your experience. I started choosing my hunting spots based on terrain features last year. Only did it a handful of times, yet there was only one time when I didn't see deer. The cool thing is that on every one of those four "special blind" hunts I was within 15 yards of a packed-down game trail.
Jason, I literally wrote down every word on your strategy. I get it, thanks for your teaching. I really enjoyed the Walmart visit concerning hunting clothes. I have implemented so many of your techniques and strategies. Thanks David
Traditional Bowhunting And Wilderness Podcast I’ve been helped so much also, as I’ve already expressed, been about a year for me so far with the long bow. Loving the journey, and I owe most of it to this channel,
Bottlenecks and narrows in the terrain features.......game animals are just like fish, structure oriented. Good luck this fall Jason, the season is upon us.
I can testify to all of that because that's exactly how I scout. From the computer. Id say 75% of my hunts are new spots ive never seen but on a map online. I mostly hunt the vast public land of southern Indiana and I honestly don't see how anyone else who hunts public this much doesn't learn these things at some point lol. But they don't smh
Agree 100%. Yet I get so many people on some of my videos lile my srt video telling me I can not hunt this way successfully...lol. got to love the internet!
I live in Southern indiana as well. Gonna start public hunting for the first time next year and start scouting this spring. Are you anywhere near evansville?
@@SamkoTradBow Although I believe baiting is a bs way to hunt, I suspect that many Mi hunters (rifle hunters particularly) are freaken pissed! However, Most of us bow hunters prefer the challenge w/o the bait hack
What’s your thoughts on hunting with a portable ground blind on public land that you can’t keep up for multiple days? I’m new to deer hunting and am not ready to get into tree stands. Do you think those pop up blinds work or just scare deer?
Fantastic question. My personal opion after a few seasons trying exactly that with a pop up and my wife I am convinced they are too big and bulk for a run and gun mobile option. Once I left the blind at home, took her hunting jacket and hat and safety pined fake leaves from hobby lobby on her hat and jacket and just put her on a low hunting chair in a bit of cover everything changed and she had deer with in 5 yards regularly. If I was in your situation I'd either do the fake leaves or a guille jacket and when you get to your spot hunker into a bit of cover and be all good to go.
Similar question. I don’t like blinds bc I can’t hear in them but hunting CRP ground with no trees to climb. So I use a dove stool and sit on ground. Or thinking of using a 4-6ft ladder to sit on to get some height see a bit further. I can only 30-40 yards in the grass that’s head high sitting on my stool. Trees are sparse and limbs just on the ground so I find one I sit in front of or in the edge to break up outline. These are gun stands. But would like to bowhunt them. Thoughts?
@@lugnutzz75 I actually have a 4 foot aluminum ladder that I use for coyote hunting in the summer when ferms are high. Works great! I tuck it right into so small pines or other good cover and sit on the top step witha foam pad! Bet it works great for what you are talking about as well
I have lots of free videos here on my youtube channel if you look at the Playlist called scouting for deer and the one called deer hunting tips. I also jave a free podcast named traditional bowhunting and wilderness podcast that has tons of podcasts on the subject. Then I have a very detailed bowhunting whitetails online course for 75 bucks. I use the saw as a walking stick thru the swamps, to extend and lean against tree to easily estimate tree stand height as I look for shooting holes. And this saw can lock the blad at a 45 angle letting me hook branches and pull them and tie them off or tuck them behind other branches without cutting them. This fiskars saw is an amazing tool. I also use it to cut up dead blow downs to block off trails and funnle deer.
@@garyalsipjr.6528 use the insides of paracord. The stands are very strong and so easy to carry a bunch. Im a huge fan of just shooting holes rather than lanes. Sinple string opens up alot of holes but often I can't reach the branches. And with the angled saw blade at a 45 you can very easily hook a branch and bend it under or over behind another one.

Yep deer always use terrain so finding the terran features is a great tactic
Pretty good info. Some people are to proud to take in tips. They think their way is the only way. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. Glad you liked it

Agree 100%.
Heck ya going in blind is an adventure and keeps them guessing, love it.
Exactly zero scent, zero pressure until they are already in the kill box

I'm in harrison county near crawford county. Probably over an hour from evansville at least.
Good video with soild information and education
Thank you
Thanks for tips, will use them
welcome
LOL maybe that's what I need to start doing... do my app scouting in a nice hot bubble bath, have some candles lit, play some slow jazz.
Just put a board across the tub and use the laptop. Nothing like scouting buck naked in a hot bath with a cold beer!
Traditional Bowhunting And Wilderness Podcast Lol,
Michigan finally got rid of baiting?! Awesome! Its about freaken time!
Heard a rumor they are gonna bring it back next year. Nothing official, but rumors. I sure hope not!!!!

Citizens eco drive field watch
Why do you need a saw? Its illegal to cut/trim any branches in Michigan.
