- In this video I team up with the Modern Synthesist to convert the new Scream Killer model from the new Warhammer Leviathan box set. Taking inspiration from the classic metal model, this big is bigger, badder, and more intimidating than ever before.

Thanks to the good homies at Games Workshop for hooking a brother up with the early Leviathan box. I am under NDA with Games Workshop to not disclose details about early stuff, but am under no obligation to promote the things they send me. I am grateful though cause Leviathan truly does rock. But just to be clear, I didn't pay for this box, so I am legally obligated to tag this video as an #ad.

Dude, I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I really appreciate this opportunity to collaborate on this with you!
EVERYONE GO FOLLOW THIS MAN!
We are incredibly grateful to see you in action, it looks absolutely horrific.
@@EricsHobbyWorkshop Yes, sir! O7
Coolest Collab ❤
Holy smokes you got Mr. Pink IRL 😲😲😲😲
He’s an awesome guy. We should all meet up!

The original Screamer Killer looks like a fleshy head sticking out from a bio-mechanical exosuit of some sort, as if the actual creature is only the head. The same effect comes across in Nick's conversion and paint-scheme, which makes it look almost like a pink brain-monster steering a robot-body. Like a gnarlier Xenomorph-y take on Krang. :)
Yeah, I LOVE your idea. Right up my street! Probably because I always loved Krang and his suit. I've actually been thinking about Tyranid exosuits of late 🤔
I'd say the head is an evolution of Genestealer to Tyranid.
It's extremely cool to listen to Nick explaining not only what he did but WHY he did it and what thoughts he put behind it.
The man, the myth, the legend ModernSynthesist! If you're struggling to find his sculpting tutorials, they are marked as How To Sculpt. Some of his videos also feature other extremely talented sculptors such as 4ydra
Ah I met Nick before at a GW store, the year before Covid started, I remember his incredibly cool display case that's in the video, he was a real nice guy, crazy to see I was talkin with someone so deep in the setting before I even really knew it.
Ive been a huge fan of nick for a long time, thank you for offering him the opportunity to work on this model prior to its release. I struggle to think of anyone more worthy of getting his hands on those tyranids.
Right? Hes the perfect person to make cool tyranid stuff with the new kits
@@EricsHobbyWorkshop Well I'm glad you and Tom think so!
No one else is doing anything THIS cool with the Leviathan box!
Games Workshop should engage Nick to design a whole Tyranid army in his style to make it the official look of the Tyranids
❤
Awesome collaboration, great result. Thank you for introducing me to The Modern Synthesist
Excellent video! Nick’s changes are spot on, all very well thought out and executed. Looking forward to a new titan video, such an exciting project
Thank you so much! I'm glad they handed for you! I'm clearly a bit obsessed with the Screamer.
It would be awesome to see future collaborations in a similar style, especially with Mr. Pink. Love to see folks as passionate about the hobby given more time to showcase their skills even more.
Thanks Tyler ❤
Damn would love to see models from that art book from the start 2:10
Well I just may have converted Eric to Tyranids, so maybe we'll have more Tyranid art in our future collabs!
This might've been said already a hundred times but man with that paint job the screamer-killer really looks like Wolverine. Great conversion, great video.
Well, I am a bit obsessed with Wolverine...
An amazing portrait of an amazing artist and his amazing work! Seems like you two are a great match and i am looking forward to what you will cook up for the 10th!
Thanks brother. There have been whispers of a Tyranid board 🤫
Loved seeing Nick's stuff on Instagram for a good while, and this collab was a great way to share his work with an even wider audience! I hope you do more of these in the future, there's so many great sculptors and painters out there!
Well we're already talking about future collaborations, but I, too, would love to see Eric take some deep dives with other artists!
I'm approaching 10k points of Nids and dude, my jaw was dropped watching this. What an amazing conversion!
What a perfect dream team to make the Scream Killer even cooler. Super inspiring video!
Always bums me out when that model tops people’s’ “ugliest models” lists. I love that thing! I even printed a proxy for my Genestealer Cult. Really glad to see more fans of the Screamy Boi here!
HECK YEAH! We can't help folks being unable to recognize the beauty. I guess it's a matter of taste 😝
What an amazing collaboration! Modern Synthesist is fantastic! Nice to see all the nods back to the classic model.
I reached out to him because of your suggestion after our conversation at Mordheim 2023! I was going to mention it in the video but ended up editing that bit to make the video flow better. Thanks so much Eric!
Eric, thanks for being instrumental in making this collaboration happen by connecting me with Other Eric!
@@EricsHobbyWorkshop yeah that makes sense! Really glad to see two powerhouses making content together. Such a wonderful collaborative community! Good luck with Leviathan too!
OG Screamer-Killer's a 1st ed. model, I've got the White Dwarf with the Rogue Trader rule card for it, Tyranid Warriors, brood brothers and mind-slaves, and Tyranid Squigs!
That is a kingly prize!
@@ModernSynthesist it's the very thing that led me to waste so much of my life on toy soldiers, blessed relic that it is ^_^
It's a hoot reading how they tried to retrofit 'nids into 40K as being the creators of the Squigs
4:10 it's like GW was trying to recreate this with the Barbgaunt, but from memory and while drunk
LMAO! Yeah, I made that about... 3 years ago? I was happy to see the Barb gaunts come out in a similar vein.
FUDGE YEAH! what a collab!!🤩🤩
Noice. Not enough tyranid conversion videos. Great stuff.
AGREED. I wasn't sure how to bring my conversions to life on youtube, but Eric's inspired me to get more of them on here starting with leviathan. I'm hoping to do one for every unit in the box.
@ModernSynthesist is a master craftsman. Can't wait to see his stuff.
It is the _DESTRUCTION_ Carnifex!
Can see this guy battering through the space marine fortress gate and unleashing the horde within the walls!
yes! this was the dream as soon as i saw the new model. Great work
Nick's models are closer to what I imagine these mutations should look like, a lot more incorporated into their biology. They look so good!
Wow, an awesome blast from the past! 🤓
Killer vid! I have one of the old metal Carnifex and plan to run him with the new one in a brood. I figure the nids are organisms so it's fine if they dont match 100% as long as they're the same height (big base required)
I appreciate the enthusiasm for the old aesthetic, even if it was rather silly looking.
The sculpt looks amazing.
Well I guess this is meant to show what's possible when modernizing those old, silly concepts!
Here to support my boi🫡🙌🏻🎉. Very great full to be friends with Nick. Got to see his Genestealer cult army on parade box at the local Gw store when it was freshly finished. Highly recommend everyone tune into the Creature conference livestreams. Where everything nid is discussed.
Great to have a New Video Fantastic Work as always and ty for a Great new Channel !
Nick is crazy talented, can't believe I haven't heard of him before! Really enjoy this format, please keep it going!
Long story, but I have a 90% complete 1/6th or 1/10th (I forget which) scale original screamer-killer upscale cast I made in the garage; it’s around 14inch high. Really pleased to see the new screamer-killer has gone back to this design, which I love. Thanks for the video ❤
That's awesome. I'm thinking I'd like to go the other way and update the older model to be closer to the new one.
THIS I would love to see!
I like the format with the breakdown of the finished model. I just wish there was more footage of the process and diving just a little more into the method of creation.
I always loved the old Carnifex model. I keep looking at the modern tyrranids and thinking that kind of aesthetic is missing. I've looked a the new Screamer Killer coming with 10th and thought, wow, if I had the skills, he would make a perfect murderball. I'm glad you guys got together and did it.
Glad he comes across as a murder ball to you! And this will not be my last!
That’s a weird looking emperor titan 😊
Nice conversion, thank you for sharing!
How to improve upon nostalgia - a masterclass
THE SWARM DESCENDS TO FEED
Hell yeah! I love me some tyranids
Great collab was wondering what Nick was working on in secret
IT HAS BEEN AGONY TO KEEP IT FROM YOU KIDS!
Nice, the new model is cool but it does feel to agile to me , not the brutish tank a screamer killer should be.
Amazing conversion
Great to see how much your channel has grown...Go you, almost at 200k subs. Your content is always great.
Cool as always.
This dude needs to be a sculptor for gw
I really enjoy everything both of you make, so it's amazing to see you working together on this!
... and completely unrelated, did I see a Rocinante model on the shelf when you walked into the studio? Hell yeah!
Thanks! It's been a blast working with Eric for me as well!
And that is most definitely the Kickstarter Roci. When I'm not diving deep into nids, I worship the Protomolecule.
The head on this conversion is incredible! It's my least favourite thing on the new screamer killer (those bits of chitin on the sides just look like a bad hair style). But man, I can't believe how good a job this dude did on the head, and especially the jaw sculpt . It looks genuinely ferocious and powerful. Sinking the head into the upper torso was also a genius move. And the hoofs on the back of the feet was a sweet touch too. I wish I was getting one of these in my Leviathan box.
Your BANG ON with the bad hair do!
It's an interesting structure, and it's worth preserving, as I did by moving it to the sides, but I don't love it on the stock head
Great video !
Wackaday yeah !!! Its Timmy Mallet !
Classic case of could vs should, right here. Let this be a lesson to ye.
I think this looks great!
SICK
I didn't know Matt Damon did Warhammer!
LOOOOL. Haven't had that in a while. I thought the hat and glasses would disguise it 🤫
@@ModernSynthesist Ha! But also, your work is amazing, mate. Can't wait to see more videos from your channel :D
@@iain.sm.c Thanks dude!
The old Tyranids just seem so utterly ALIEN to me which the newer art style does not quite capture.
As they truly should be.
I'm at least happy things have gotten a tiny bit WEIRDER with the new Leviathan bugs 🤏
This is beautiful 😍
This Tyranid looks so similar to the ultralisk
Will you do a panting video of the space marines?
Too cool!
I know for fact you guys are not going to see this, but I'm curious to know how do you feel about the fact that the tearing it when they fight space marines they were the rip through their armor so easily? Due to 40k lower space, mario armor should be able to shrug off a tank round, hitting it. Understand some of the biological weapons attorney they use, but when it comes to Kohl's quarters combat how does it work? Do they specifically go towards the joints due to multiple deaths of their brothers.
Screamer killa alpha genome. ( I think that’s how you spell it)
I like it's head
I don't dream anymore , but this us the
hell yea
At one minute and thirty seven seconds some words pop up for just and instant. I spend far too long trying to pause at the right time. It says "THE SWARM DESCENDS TO FEED" now you don't have to look.
I actually saw this as well 😂
Like it!
I`d love to see this scanned and on a stl file.
Never going to happen with one of my models, but always happy to take on a commission ☺
What's the music that kicks in at 4:11?
Does anyone know what that black spaceship is at 1:57 in the video? I'm getting some GI Joe Cobra vibes off it but I can't place it exactly, also cool collection, also amazing work in this video guys!
Is the Rocinante from the Expanse!
@@flynnhammer5311 Well that's my fault for not having watched the Expanse yet, I really should.
When are you going to do the interior video of your ancient Egyptian tomb? Its been a year
I have had two problems arise that made me delay that project 1) i did a lot of research into what the inside of an authentic tomb really looks like, and it was much different than my expectation. The golden sarcophagus for example is usually nested in several large boxlike shrines and not immediately visible. 2) racoons invaded my garage and messed with the box containing the build from part 1. Regardless, it is coming in the next few months. And more egypt content.
@@EricsHobbyWorkshop Yea, I even heard that tuts coffins/boxes were in parts and put together in the tomb because of how big they were. And that sucks about raccoons messing with your stuff. And that's good that the project is not dead. I love Ancient Egypt, its one of the reasons why I am into Kemetism.
What happened to the titan build?
Hey guys, just want to ask something. 10th edition drops on June 10th right?
June 24th, actually. June 10th is just when the preorders start.
the talons on the new GW model are way, way too small. nice job extending them by running them back over the elbow, i figured this dude would be getting 4 whole new arm setups
Not a huge fan of the conversion but fun video!
👍
Can you build a Bosnia pyramids

🥳❤️👍🏿
Reminds me of an Ultralisk
i like this video but work on the titan
LOL.
Eric, you're like the George RR Martin of Warhammer, and your Winds is that bloody titan!
Well ngl I don’t like the one you made aha

So much for "subscribe to see a Warhammer fantasy battle soon". Meh.
I said i would make it if the video got 5k likes. It didn’t

Another amazing video man, this channel just gets better every time. Seriously, your content is just so easy and fun to watch!
Yooo the new synthesised model is actually so interesting to look at, the extra thick back muscles make him look like he could cut anything in half with just pure force, absolutely love the design
Thanks!
And "Synthesized"? I like that 😅
I'm glad that Nick and his work is getting the recognition he deserves. I've purposefully avoided doing Tyranid kit bashes simply because I couldn't get anywhere near to the standard of Nicks work. Keep on building those Tyranids! And Eric, thanks for helping bring his work to a wider audience.
That's really sweet, dude!
But it's also anathema to everything I believe.
Tyranid kitbashes aren't better or worse. They're just different, and every new one brings more great ideas to the fore.
So the Hive needs you to get bashing!
What a cool colloboration! I was tempted by the big box to start my second army, but I realised I really enjoy kitbashing, so I went with Genestealer Cults instead of Tyranids. Now I see there's a huge potential for sculpting with Tyranids! I've only tried to add a hood and robes to a Dark Angels lieutenant so far, green stuff really requires care and patience.
Well I'm kicking off a new series of sculpting tutorials tomorrow, and they're going to break down all be major structures for Tyranids. So that could help?
I prefer nicks version. It’s strikingly and unique. I really like how the head is inside the torso. I think what I love about the model is that it’s just legs and a torso . it mirrors the silhouette of the space marine dreadnought and I think that’s really cool.
I haven't played 40k in over a decade but I have fond memories of the original Screamer Killer. I never understood the hate it got, it was a glorious chunk of metal. Love this collab and thank you for introducing me to a great new modelling channel.
See Dave. I can tell right here that you are a man of refined tastes and impeccable character
I really like the new screamer killer model, it's actually the only new 'Nid model I actually like, it has real personality like the OG one also had but I think I still prefer this conversion. Now James Workshop just needs to do a new version of the OG hive tyrant and I'll be all old cool and happy.
Glad you appreciate it! I'd say the new Tyrant is getting close to the old one, and I made a separate conversion to bring it even closer. Just need to finish painting it...
@@ModernSynthesist Well now I gotta sub to your channel so I can see that conversion finished.
Maybe we can get some of those long bucktooth warriors back, too!
… actually, maybe those can stay dead.
@@ShallowVA We ABSOLUTELY need all old cool and old fool warhammer stuff back!!!!
@@ShallowVA LOOOL 😂
Great video! That screamer killer is rad as hell.
Thanks! Glad you like it!
Now THATS a Distraction Carnifex! :D
Fantastic collab! So cool to see another interpretation of the design!
Well damn. I think this is the first time a channel (let alone one I'm subscribed to) features a bloke who had been a friend, and hobby hero of mine for 16 years, and some of his work.
Thanks for your ongoing support, Jun! ❤
The screamer / killer of my nightmares ... alas l dream no more... but l enjoy my nightmares more.
Love that ❤
Absolutely fantastic!! As a nid player and total fanboi of Modern Synthesist, this was insane!
I'm very lucky that Eric made this possible!
