Spartacus, Lolita, A Clockwork Orange, Barry Lyndon, and this movie are currently the ones I *don't* have in my video collection. EDIT: Now the Kubrick movies not in my collection are Lolita, A Clockwork Orange, and Barry Lyndon.
I believe Kidman was listening to this song during production and actually recommended they use the song in the movie, and then Kubrick selected it for the trailer.
Super glad I never saw the trailer for this. I watched the movie for the first time the other day, purely interested because it was a Kubrick film and I've just been aware of the title a long time. Not that the trailer gives away much plot, but some of those visuals, particularly with costumes and locations, are way better and weirder when you aren't expecting them!
I haven't seen it yet, but feel I missed out by not going to see it on the big screen. If I remember correctly, it went to DVD fairly quickly back then due to rubbish reviews that it received. I look forward to watching it finally now that I know a bit more about it. Cheers, Mike for your assessment of it. 🥂
Anyone find it odd Leelee Sobieski quit acting because in her words "It was too sexual". I think Stanley Kubrick was trying to tell us something here. It’s such a strange fire to play with, and our relationship is surely strong enough to handle it, but if you’re going to walk through fire, there has to be something incredible on the other side"
@@simplyatsea6779 yeah she did another great movie, a suspense/thriller who involved a crystal house.. well I'm not sure if it was really great bcuz I saw it in my childhood
Whom Can We Trust If No One Is Trustworthy? One of my favorite quips from Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is when Tom is defined as “a glittering hero…the pet of the old, the envy of the young,” and there were “some that believed that he would be President, yet, if he escaped hanging.” With these few words, Twain captured the essence of leadership in our world. Those who get to the top are the fiercest, most determined, and most ruthless. Today, the latter quality has become so intense that we can no longer believe our leaders, and certainly not trust them to have our best interest in mind. I am not accusing any leader in particular, or even leaders as a whole. It is simply that in an egoistic world, where people vie to topple one another on their way to the top, the one at the top is clearly the one who trampled over and knocked down more people than anyone else. Concisely, to get to the top in an egoistic world you have to be the biggest egoist. So how do we know whom to trust? We don’t know and we cannot know. All we know is that we are in the dark. In a culture of unhinged selfishness, any conspiracy theory seems reasonable, while truth is nowhere to be found. When every person who says or writes something is trying to promote some hidden agenda, you have no way of knowing who is right, what really happened, or if anything happened at all. The only way to get some clarity in the news and goodwill from our leaders is to say “Enough!” to our current system and build something entirely independent. The guiding principle of such a system should be “information only,” no commentary. Commentary means that information has already been skewed. Information means saying only what happened, as much as possible, not why, and not who is to blame and who we should praise. Concurrently, we must begin a comprehensive process of self-teaching. We have to know not only what is happening, but why we skew and distort everything. In other words, we have to know about human nature and how it inherently presents matters according to its own subjective view, which caters to one’s own interest. To “clear” ourselves from that deformity, we must learn how to rise above our personal interest and develop an equally favorable attitude toward others. This is our only guarantee that our interpretation of things will be even and correct. Once we achieve such an attitude, we will discover that the bad things we see in our world reflect our own, internal wickedness. Our ill-will toward others creates a world where ill-will governs, and so the world is filled with wickedness and cruelty. Therefore, all we need in order to create positive leadership-and to generally eliminate ill-will from the world-is to generate goodwill within us. When we nurture goodwill toward others, we will fill the world with goodwill. As a result, the world will fill with kindness and compassion. By changing ourselves, we will create a world that is opposite from the world we have created through our desires to govern, patronize, and often destroy other people.
This is so profound. I agree that the world can only change if we change ourselves. Unfortunately, most of the world is stuck in the matrix and don’t understand this concept. I call enlightenment a “coming to god moment”. When you realize you’re one small piece in a system of systems, life becomes so much clearer. Humans aren’t all that different from each other. We all share one mind, the human mind, which is why many of us have similar thoughts. We’re literally living a small group of people’s thoughts that were born thousands of years ago. Imagine thinking a thought and people living that way in real life. We don’t don’t actually have freedom of choice until we become one of the leaders of the world. None of us are in the club so we must remain free in our minds and be the change we want to see.
My friend, you start with Twain - America's greatest "physician of the soul" -, diagnose the problem AND offer a solution (decentralized exit). Best youtube comment EVER.

The last phrase in the movie is big eraser for most marriage pitfalls. Eyes Wide Shut, Lost Highway and After Hours, awesome
@@diego_ferrando will watch those other films as well. I don't know what to say regarding eyes wide shut. Whether it's good or bad. Just weird
You warned us Mr Kubrick
He was in the know .... just a testing warning.
The book this movie is based on was written by an Austrian guy in 1926...
@@layla8830I know, but it still applies to some stuff that might happen in hollywood, and this movie is based on the book, not 100% the story
@@matheusrodrigues6923 True, it applies to stuff that's more or less happening in middle and upper class society everywhere. That's kinda the point...
Spartacus, Lolita, A Clockwork Orange, Barry Lyndon, and this movie are currently the ones I *don't* have in my video collection.
EDIT: Now the Kubrick movies not in my collection are Lolita, A Clockwork Orange, and Barry Lyndon.
Wow this trailer is great in that it doesn't spoil the feel of the movie at all....lol. You'll be in for a surprise.
Who's watching this in the Epstein-Maxwell era?
Adam Sieracki ✋🏻
One of my all time favorite movies. And no, not because of the Illuminati.
Whats with the illuminati in EWS
This is one of many testaments why Tom Cruise is hella amazing actor.
Then how come he has never won an Oscar?
Eric Day because he smells like salt & vinegar potato chips. Good actor, off-putting aroma.
@@ericday4505 oscars are bought by the studios

This movie caused them to get a divorce, This is before Urban met her.
Stanley Kubrick was like Luis Estrada: a great director who say the raw themes in His movies, grettings from mexico
Trivia: Kubrick cut this trailer together. Perfect choice of music on his part.
Leelee Sobieski on quiting
"Ninety percent of acting roles involve so much sexual stuff with other people, and I don’t want to do that. It’s such a strange fire to play with, and our relationship is surely strong enough to handle it, but if you’re going to walk through fire, there has to be something incredible on the other side"
Good point but Sobieski didn’t quit after this movie. She was in a few more several years after this.
@@simplyatsea6779 yeah she did another great movie, a suspense/thriller who involved a crystal house..
well I'm not sure if it was really great bcuz I saw it in my childhood
Is it true that 20 minutes of this movie was taken out despite Stanley's objection?
24minutes of this film were cut. even though it is stated in his contract that they couldn't do that.
The older I get the more I appreiciate these kind of movies.
I always underestimate how disturbing that cult scene is. The changing alone terrifies me 😩
This was a documentary
Stanley Kubrick’s final film.
Very well said. Thank you
My friend, you start with Twain - America's greatest "physician of the soul" -, diagnose the problem AND offer a solution (decentralized exit).
Best youtube comment EVER.
GOOD BYE STANLEY KUBRİCK :(
Love this documentary its amazing.
Ah a Christmas classic fun for the entire family
Best trailer ever !
My All time favorite movie wonderful superb great. Tom cruise. Nicole Kidman
Love this movie. But it's probably more fascinating to analyze than watch.
0:35 THE KUBRICK STARE on this movie (another favorite 0:53) In my opinion she did the movie. The amazing thing? her character is in just twenty or thirty minutes !!!
Mesmerizing
Leslie at her age is great too
Sounds like fun. I’ll take my mom, my dad, wife, and kids to see this film.
The last phrase in the movie is big eraser for most marriage pitfalls.
Prophet Muhammed once said “if you seen luscious woman and you craved she, go to your wife and make love”
And instinctively i was waiting for this end to remake such a warm marriage, Despite the lusts of the souls.
Great film, third time watching 😊❤
@@macabree5856if a woman throws herself at you and you know you could have her got to your wife who you really love and respect and keep yourself pure from other women as your relationship with your wife is more sacred and pure than any other women even if it’s tempting to give in it’s not worth giving up your morals values integrity up for temptation and temporary pleasure even if it’s served to you on a plate never give in to your desires as it’s a slippery slope turn back to your wife as you should love and cherish her over being a primitive man it complete control over yourself especially emotionally is easy if you know yourself better than anyone else true conscientiousness
Lust is driven by sexual instinct, and when you take aware step by making love to your wife with intent to forget that luscious girl, this will strengthen your relationship with your wife more, and morally -or Appreciation for yourself- you will ignore the girl.
Yea, but his wife was a wh0re. She told him she wanted to cheat on him to make him angry and to show she was not loyal to him. So him cheating is perfectly fine after that, because she is a evil woman.
This is Kubrick's best movie. Not saying that lightly.
Oh yeah this film is on my top 10 best of all time!
this movie is like a dream.
By the time you see the title" A film by Stanley Kubrick" you already know you have to see it.
Masterpiece of art
Great dialogue, great story
This trailer does not prepare you for the experience of watching this movie
best Christmas movie
The importance of knowing all the passwords.
I watched almost till the end and realised why everyone is praising this movie and recommending it. Y'all are sadists. Kinda like parents to new couples,"Have kids, they're the best things that could happen to you," No, oh no, you just want the rest of us to suffer like you do... Ah, ah, I ain't falling for that one. Come to think of it, I could actually use this movie to fall asleep! Def will fall asleep, so God damn slow, I was literally crying!
You have a great name and a firey soul.
U are low IQ don't blame others lame duck!!!
That music in the movie is so haunting,I watched it last night and the experience was so much better cuz I watched alone and could really hear the music and feel Tom horror
well I can tell you Stanley didn't cut this trailer
Y’all don’t forget he died after making this movie if I remember correctly
And there was 25 minutes of the film cut for unknown reasons...
watch the freaking tunnel opening show in Switzerland or that London Olympics opening. it's RIGHT THERE before our very eyes which are WIDE SHUT
What am I missing in the London olympics opening??
Finally, we all get it inside scoop on what it’s like to have money😂
Eyes wide shut to a reality

They say Harvey Keitel was the first choice for Zeigler but he got mad at kubrick and said Kubrick insulted him with so many takes.. but man Sydney made that movie real.. Tom not much of actor but hes believeable and for Sydney and other great performances from Vanessa Shaw, Nicole Kidman, Rade Serbedzija, Todd Feild and great cinematography the film is a master piece..
I'd say The Firm, Eyes Wide Shut, Born on the Forth of July and Magnolia. People can say what they want about Tom Cruise's craziness in real life, but there is simply no denying he's had an astonishing successful career and is a brilliant actor :-)
nicole kidman is the best actress ever
Makes me think of that Roman Polanski movie with Johnny Depp, The Ninth Gate, also from 1999
P diddy was inspired by this
Or was it Kubrick who got inspired by Diddy 👀
பாரி சாலன் பேச்சு கேட்டு யாரு பார்க்க வந்திங்க like podunga?
One of Stanley kubrick’s best films
Originally Titled as Eye of the Beholder
Haters r gonna hate cuz they ain't nothing
This film should be an R Rating Uncut and without Digital Editing, because it has an important message about Cults and Hollywood.
Release last 25 minutes
This movie is the reason he died.
