    I was selling at a flea market once and someone bought a Pyrex lid without the bottom dish. I totally thought how am I going to sell a lid without the dish, and then someone came and bought it. They told me their lid broke and they needed a new one. As they walked away, my Aunt said, "There is a lid for every pot." From then on, I learned that for the right person, anything can sell. I have sold some unbelievable things, at flea markets, and on Ebay. With millions of users on Ebay, stuff should be selling all the time. If it is not, it could be their algorithm. I am done with all this. I'm going to have a yard sale or go to the flea market. The time invested on Ebay is not worth it. You did a great video !!!!!!!!!! Thank you!!

    Thank you, Jon, My store is still having a gazillion glitches. Hopefully it will come back soon. I have a very old store and large store, and it's glitch fest right now. One glitch after the next, but hopefully whatever eBay is working on will clear itself up soon. I'm doing all the things that you are doing, and it's still very slow. :( Today I started another markdown sale and the sale wouldn't complete. I have been doing everything you said, but sometimes eBay just goes down and problems seem to alternate between sellers. I'm so glad your store is doing good right now!

    I'm on track for a July that is 50% better than July 2021. Last year, April and May were my best months of the year (stimulus checks), while this year April and May have been been my worst two months so far. I thought I was in for a long slow summer, but it has turned around since springtime. I'm very consistent with listing and I don't run any sort of promotions or coupons ever (for my niche, it just doesn't make much sense). The solution for me seems to have been fixing older listings.
    Aside from listing every single day, I have been re-optimizing older listings, which includes fixing keyword hierarchy and re-shooting photos. This feels like a lot of wasted energy at times, but I have to remind myself that the real wasted energy was creating the original non-optimized listing, and that energy was spent long ago. I look as these fixed listing as new listings, even though my store isn't growing very much for the effort. However, it's not about growing your store, it's about growing your sales.

    Their algorithm is so screwed up. What works for some may not work for others. Every single time I have run a sale in the past, my sales tank and often get no sales at all. I have tried running sales numerous times and will never use them again as it has the complete opposite outcome of what should be happening. I do use promoted listings though.

Could be slow season and mixed inflation. All my items have value to collectors. My inventory is at 30 items and want to keep increasing. I figure its all learning at this point in the game.

    Hi John, Thanks for the video. I'm in my fourth month of selling on eBay. I have a store subscription, a really nice storefront, and a very good about story. I have over 800 products listed, yet my sales are less than 30 per month. My VA, say's that it is a waiting game and that I need to build up customers and reviews. I have about 36 reviews so far all of which are 100 percent positive. The products I sell are general products with good titles, descriptions, and photos. I even have the minimum promotions activated as well. However, my sales are still super low. What am I doing wrong? Please advise.

    I usually have around 10-15 different sale markdowns running at all times.
    Duration on each is from 3-7 days so every day there are a couple of them ending. This is where I use the end/sell similar procedure.
    Then I restart various sales.
    After that I go to Promoted Listings and tweak the percentage a little.
    Next is sending out offers and leaving a few feedbacks.
    I also find simply looking at some of my listings or other sellers similar listings seem to awaken the algorithm. This is like when a buyer asks a question about an item, then it sells a few minutes later to someone else.
    Just doing my shipping seems to stimulate the algorithm.
    Activity.

    I have learned running short term sales works best. Like 2 days or 3 and end most on Sunday nights. I have 11 different sales running now at various percentages. What happens is hours before a sale ends watches are notified the sale is ending and they will buy. I use the filters to determine which items have the most watchers and numbers of days items are listed.

    My sales tanked 4th quarter 2021. I ended all my listings and sold similar. I list a minimum of 5 new listings a day and keep new listings saved as drafts so I always have new listings ready even on days I don’t work. All new listings have every item specific filled in as much as possible. I also ship lightening fast and keep up with feedback. That all jump started me again.
    Recently I started asking friends and family to rate my store because the algorithm probably favors stores with feedback too.

    good video Jon, but I do wander about glitchy eBay playing a roll in the number of sales. I have a coupon on all of my items in my store, use best offers and send out offers and coupons. Talking 25 to 30% off all items and still sporadic sales. The reason I bring this up is using best offer and coupons some of my customer's don't realize you cannot make an offer and then use a coupon. So when I accept an offer I sometimes have to explain to new buyers you cannot use both coupon and best offer. With that said I have has some buyers state they did not see my coupon code. This was a shock since I have coupon on all of my items. So would eBay hide the coupon code from certain buyers?

    • @FlippinAintEasy

    I’m in the slow sales boat. It hurts to sell electronics for dirt cheap and not make a profit. I don’t mind MSRP or slightly below for unused stock but the only way I was able to move my inventory was to take semi low ball offers. I’ve been on eBay since 2017 and the times have changed. I am a fair negotiable seller but sometimes I’ll accept a slight lowball.

    • @FlippinAintEasy
      @FlippinAintEasy  Год назад

      I think sometimes we see MSRP (or near it) as where our items need to sell for. Even with new stock most items will not sell close to full MSRP unless there is big demand for that item. Otherwise I have found you will normally get about 60-75% retail and sometimes less than that. What I do is focus on what I’m into the item for and try to get the market price (ebay solds) for that item. If after some time I have not sold the item I will turn on Best Offer and accept offers that will bring be at least 3x my cost. I will only go lower than that if I am just trying to move a dead item.
      As for fixing sales, I have found there isn’t one thing you can do to fix your sales but instead doing a collection of things with your listings and your account to be successful. I hope things pick up for you.

    When you say $500 a day are you meaning sale price plus shipping cost? or profit?

    • @FlippinAintEasy
      @FlippinAintEasy  2 года назад

      For me, my current goal is to see and average of $500 per day in my sales summary. Ebay includes shipping in this figure. Let's just say 50% margin, that would equal out to $250 per day in profit or $7500 per month over a 30 day period.

    I was having the same type of issue. I had weeks where I sold $8, $25, $12 lol. Keep in mind I'm a weekend warrior reseller with a regular 40-60 hour a week job, so my time is limited. I removed all of my items that got ZERO views over the last 60 days and I re-listed inventory that removed from eBay a long time ago. My last four weekly payouts were $163, $224, 254 at $114. My guess is that I removed all the clutter listings that weren't even being looked at and listed new "fresher" items. I can understand that, have you ever looked through someone's store and they have 10 pages of items? By page 5 you get bored and click off the page...you potentially missed 5 pages of items that you may have wanted, why did you leave the page? You were forced to look at items you (and no one else) cares about. By getting rid of the clutter items and getting the items on pages 5-10 closer to pages 1-5 you might increase the views and the sales. In my case, it seemed to work.

    • @FlippinAintEasy
      @FlippinAintEasy  2 года назад +3

      That is good information. It confirms to me if you have a higher store sell through rate (getting rid of bad listings will improve this), it has an effect on the other items you are selling and I suspect you get a higher best match search boost.

    • @arnolduk123

      I've done this myself, somehow if you leave a listing unchanged for while it becomes lost in eBays dungeon of desolate listings 😪 Relisting or changing the item title, description, price or delivery options, can boost the listing views and ranking. Another tactic that strangely works is moving the item into another item category. I've sold items in categories that an item is not usualy found. I think buyers have been looking for something else and then my item pops up which gets them interested. I've also noticed some unscrupulous sellers with multiple variations listings add a small value item of say $1 as a variation in order to rank the item higher when searched by price. Although, as a buyer I will not buy from a seller who used a low value variation in order to trick me to view their listing, it's like click bait.

    I always use promoted on 100% of my listings. Anything under $20.00 gets promoted at 10% out of the gate & anything over $20.00 gets promoted at suggested out of the gate. My organic sales to promoted sales is about 70/30 respectively so it doesn't really make a difference on my average PPI & I get those extra sales. As for running sales, I set up all of the sales that I'm going to do at the beginning of each quarter so I never have to worry about it and always have sales/coupons/combined shipping discounts going. Don't forget to use buyer groups too especially if your a nich store.

      Promoted @ 10% is ebay's regular fees and then the additional 10% promoted fee?

    • @lsgsrob2102
      @lsgsrob2102 2 года назад +5

      @@woodyhayes7402 yes and yes, still maintaining a 45-50% margin. Again it’s only rough 30% of my sales that sell promoted. When they sell organic my margin jumps to almost 60% so when I average it out at the end of the day my margin is right around 45-50%. Example, I sell alot of my items at $15+$6.50 shipping, average cost of shipping is $4.50 and if it sells promoted at 10% then I make $9.20 profit. Now multiply that by 15-20 sales per day and thats pre-tax profit.
      Edit: my average cost of goods is $3 so you can plug that into the ebay fee calculator to see. I also sell a lot of items at $17, $18 and $19. Also, I sell mens pre-owned clothing. At the end of the day the only thing I’m concerned about is cash flow, items sold and profit. I don’t care how much money I give ebay, I don’t care about returns and I don’t care about negative feedbacks. This is a business and my job is to deliver good items at a good price as quickly as possible and have great customer service and thats what I worry about. Far to many people go down the rabbit hole of “giving ebay to much money” or “ebay already takes enough”. Usually those sellers have really crappy stores and put in minimal effort and thus get minimal results.

      A set rate of say 10% commission should never go up. Charge 10% and as prices/markets go up so does the gross profits of say Ebay. I decided to try a different tactic. Rather than give eBay 38% of each sale total...I completely turned off all promoted %. I ended all listings and using the sell similiar feature I put back up all my listings. I waited a day and made no other changes. I turned on a markdown sale for 40% off my entire store. I decided rather than give eBay more money I passed that savings onto the buyer. After 5 hours the sales started pouring in. Too bad eBay is having shipping glitches and will not allow me to print a label now. I reached out to every buyer to let them know eBay is having glitches and I will print the label just as soon as it is fixed. I have 3 hrs 45 mins to get to the PO. Today I am so over eBay and all their BS every single day. I waste more time jumping through eBays clown hoops rather than listing and maintaining my inventory and paperwork. EBay is no longer going to get any extra money from me via promoted listings. I'd rather lower the price to benefit my buyers.

      Your right. When the bar keeps getting raised it becomes the seller who is willing to pay more IN THEORY who will be at the top. However, if you watch the video I referenced when I set 3 items at 100% promoted, you will see these items did get a boost in search but were not at the top for similar items. Promoted listings will not take a bad or incomplete listing and put it to the top no matter how high you go. It is just another component in the equation that helps to determine your best match search ranking.

Same item (exact same item) not ran thru the eBay promoted listings becomes invisible. When you look at your traffic history the promoted item will always have significantly more visibility. The promoted item sells and eBay collects an additional 12%. Total fees eBay collects is approaching 25%. I use the promoted listing, add the premium to the price and it sells.
