I thought this was gonna be 100% Luke filming at his house doing the Intel Arc switch-over, but it’s just nice to have Luke on LTT more often outside of WAN Show.
It feels like Luke cares sooo much about this. Linus perfectly conveys being excited but if you ever need to make a point that LMG truly cares about something: Let Luke do it!
I like Luke, he's a different tone, more angry but that also carries the point across more dramatically. He's a surprisingly nice change of pace, I hope he does more.
He has similar levels of presentation ability as Linus and all the other on screen presenters, but compared to Linus he rebalances a bit - less excitability, more gravitas, more anger rather than frustration. Always good to have him on in addition to the regulars :)
@@ctc514 Of course most of us would know, I personally have been watching since NCIX days, we've seen Luke quite a lot since. But let's be honest, he hasn't done those daily format videos at all for quite some time so seeing him back in here helps us see obvious differences and appreciate them, that's all. Don't worry, you're not the only one that knows the LTT crew.

Normally watch these on my tv, but this is the first video in months to make me want to comment. I miss Luke hosting LTT videos. I know that’s not his job anymore, but it always seemed to balance the Linus videos on this channel. Please host more often, Luke.
The idea always is to have one between, not released them at the same time, but what he says means that should have been edited earlier and did find how they "forgot" about some of the footage
If you look at the title it says part 2.. what they've done is given a brief overview of how Luke set up then they talked about performance, this is the opposite to the first in which they showed Linus set up and gave no performance info.. so basically they just wanted to use 1 host per video and the claim that they forgot Luke is just click bait to ensure people watch to find out why
Arc H264/5 encoding is also super competitive with NVENC and AMD's encoder. I'm not sure what's up with you all not being able to stream with it, I haven't had any major issues. Arc AV1 in OBS is already in the beta OBS video as of last week.
Don't really think much people know how (or when) to get the Beta releases of most software, let alone OBS. I would always prefer people testing technology on its latest release rather than a Beta/SNAPSHOT/Milestone version.
OBS 29 pre-release builds already support Intel AV1 encoding, it also supports AMD RDNA3 AV1 encoding, which you might want to do some tests and comparisons with when you get hands on the new cards
I know Luke is doing more important stuff with Floatplane, but it's so nice to see him in a video again, I've missed it a lot ♥ I hope that there will be more time for the odd appearance now and then in the future :)
Luke's interpretation at 7:47 is spot on. The bluescreen said "TDR_FAILURE". TDR is "timeout detection and recovery", basically if your GPU doesn't respond for a while (for example because a broken driver caused a GPU hang or crashed the GPU), Windows will try to reset it which usually works. Apparently that broke on the Intel GPU.
@@senmage Probably. But if i'm not mistaken, GPU actually talks directly with power supply, and if system told GPU to restart, than it must do it on it's own. I mean, theoretically GPU still must restart properly even if it is powered by different power supply. But i'm not exactly sure about it.
@@Chastity_Belt Pretty sure the GPU only talks to the power supply on the new 12 pin connector with the small data pins, so its probably just shit intel drivers. Power supplies dont push power, they just hold it for other components to pull

I want a remake of "Home Alone" where the staff goes on some kind of outing and Luke is accidentally locked inside the LTT building over Christmas, and the MKBHD guys try to break in to steal something. Somehow his birds get involved and theres traps on the techlinked set and all sorts. Go go go.

OBS Studio 29 Beta 1 is available and adds AMD and Intel AV1 Encode. (This is new as of just 6 days ago, and the production on this video was probably WELL before that.) But it is, in my opinion, the only use for the first generation for ARC cards that makes sense (for now, driver updates dependent). They are going up against graphics power houses that have been at it for 2 to 3 and half decades now.
While I have no plans on buying an Intel Arc video card, I felt like this was a better done review than the one Linus put on. So with saying that, I think we need more Luke doing reviews
Can you guys please leave links for the previous videos if you're doing multiparters? It's a major pain in the butt sometimes to find the other parts and it's nice to actually see all the parts without having to scroll through all the most recent videos. For future viewers this will be even more of a blessing.
Luke really kills it in these kinds of videos. I’m sure he likes doing the floatplane stuff more, and is probably far more useful there, but this makes me really wish Luke Tech Tips made a comeback again, if only for a little while.
The gear icon on the top right of the driver page gives you an option to check for updates within the overlay. I never noticed that UI elements behind the overlay can still be highlighted but not clicked, that's kinda funny. It's been improving for me, I'm hoping it will get better over time.
I tested an A770 for my gaming streams on release weekend. Streamed to Twitch using the Arc's QuickSync X264 encoder. Had no major technical hang ups, but one big observation I made was this: On nVidia, having NVENC running your stream has virtually zero impact on game performance. Arc's QuickSync however, seemed to massively hamper performance. Offline, the game was fine, streaming, big performance hit. While doing Handbrake transcoding tests, the Arc annihilated both my 2070 Super and 3080 Ti for straight 4k H264 transcode speed, so it really is a wrecking machine for video encoding - but for streaming, when it's running the game at the same time, it's not there yet.
Love seeing Luke back. I know he’s got floatplane to deal with, but I’d love the occasional Luke hosted video each month. His fallout bomb pc is still one of my favorite LTT videos.
Seeing Luke do this and a good partial rundown on what was going on, on his end is a good experience than just with Linus. It's good to see him around.

You can update the drivers in the application BTW, it has more than just a link in the overlay. Also, it tells you that you can launch the overlay with Alt-i or just open it from the start menu. The fact it is only available as an overlay was a weird decision though.

I get that he has other stuff going on in his life, but for the love of all that is good - give us more Luke. It's the right thing to do.
I would love a video detailing how you can use a second GPU, like the Arc for reference, as a hardware encoder rather than your main GPU, especially for things like HV1 on RUclips and such.
Luke seemed confused, even disoriented, that he was hosting an LTT video. This quickly resolved itself, he wasn't nearly as rusty as I first thought, and steamed right ahead to be ON POINT and well executed throughout! 😃
It was nice seeing Luke host a video. I know he sometimes does TechLinked, but this was different. He's funny-passionate. Hope he can spare time to do a few videos here and there in the future. If not, there's always the WAN show :D

I personally think it has more to do with his gpu being on a separate power supply that is the reason its not restarting.

Intel and AMD got AV1 encoding added to OBS in pre-release 29.0.
Also, they added HEVC encoding for intel.
