We discuss TheCinemassacreTruth Subreddit, which is a community of disgruntled AVGN fans who observe the declining quality and lack of commitment of James Rolfe.
The funniest thing I learned while perusing the Cinemassacre Truth was that James genuinely believes he talked with Steven Spielberg on AOL. Oh, and the duck walk thing.
Mike's girlfriend Erin makes the best Mac and Cheese, she uses two packets of cheese. Pro tip. Also if Mike sees this he's definitely going to make a Big Mac Turkey for Thanksgiving.
This is a simple situation. James hates the nerd because the nerd movie ruined his chance of becoming a legit filmmaker. Now he is expected to continue the biggest failure of his life. That sounds awful to me.
James strikes me as someone completely stuck in the past, with little interest in anything that exists outside of his nostalgia glasses. He’s out of touch with technology because he never left the past behind, for example. He doesn’t have passion for film like he used to I think partially because he doesn’t care about newer films, only to occasionally be critical of them. It’s all nostalgia for him.
Maybe it's like the "plot" in RLM's ""Half in the Bag" where instead of Jay and Mike convincing Mr. Plinkett that they're fixing his VCR and that it's real hard and complicated, it's the slobs convincing Bimmy that all these technical problems are over his head and he needs them to handle things.
When you have quick success in something, in some cases it's almost a mistake, luck, etc. I can relate to James since I was a weird kid making rap songs in my bedroom in the 90s before it was commonplace and I happened to have some viral success in the early years of Myspace with a few songs that turned out somewhat decent. There immediately became an expectation that I would continue to release music, do shows, get a record deal, etc. While I attempted to "keep it going," it never quite matched that 1-2 year viral moment. Probably because I'm even more of an introvert than James. Socially awkward, anxiety disorder, you name it lol. 15+ years later I still get DM's & comments asking when my next album is coming, when will I "blow up", etc. and it definitely starts to wear on you. A constant reminder of what could have been.
I actually liked the simpler episodes. I'm fine with limited angles/production, the issue for me is the writing and delivery, it sounds forced and disconnected, which can be tolerated if the jokes are decent, and if the jokes suck, good delivery can save that, but when both are off, I watch the video like James, disconnected, I turn it on, and next thing I know it's over, and I realize I wasn't even paying attention, nothing drew me in, completely Insignificant.
I remember in an update video James did years ago, he said even if he was only producing content once a year he'd be fine with that as long as it met his standard of quality. Too bad that didn't last too long.

Hearing somebody say "slobs" in real life is hilarious.
All these fanboys in the comments defending criticism from their lord and savior Jamesy.
Dang, so many angry jamesy fanboys brigading

I like Avgn, but how the hell does he figure he doesn't have to devote time to his source of income?
I'd imagine that James is sick of doing AVGN- But money.
237 people are in denial and/or work for Screenwave.

James can't do as much because he's busy being in a mid life crisis I mean his band. So he has no time. If you have no time then theres just no time.
No time to watch this movie! Tis
