When I was 18 there was a show playing it was 21 and over but I should have gone it was the last time I had a chance. I listened to fountain of Wayne with my father who passed when I was 12. It’s still my favorite band I play songs for my daughter
This performance completely captures the sadness and melancholy I feel when I think back to covid. At times it seems like it was just a weird fever-dream that never actually happened. So I come back here often and watch this video so I don't ever forget about how much we lost and how much it changed the world.
What a brilliant, fitting tribute to a prolific songwriter who gave us so, so many memorable songs to hold onto as long as we live. Lucky to have shared the earth with him for a while.
Beautiful tribute to Adam. This song is one of my favourites, and in an alternate reality, was a number one hit. ❤ RIP Adam and thank you for the music.
Chris voice is so moving. Such a beautiful song. Such a loss. One year after the pain is fading away, regrets remain and the sense of absence just keeps on growing ...
Thanks guys, your music saved me when I was bouncing around between Astoria and Rockland County as a kid. I wore out W.I.M. in my walkman as a kid. God keep you & Adam and the family.
adam has been dead for a year now. 2 months after his death i discovered stacys mom and that spiraled into me becoming a very huge fan of his (and fountains of wayne in general). RIP
Love that you did this, Chris. Your work in expressing much of Adam's music was incredible. Your own works, often hard to entirely discern from Adam's, were also incredible. Keep it up!
So sad what has happened but so nice to see this song played again. I wish it was under better circumstances. My thoughts are with Adam’s family and friends.
This song now have bigger meaning and revelation in itself... I lost my friend last Dec... I could understand how hard Adams departure would have been to you guys.... Life s is cruel...
I always hoped to see them getting along together as FOW, but I knew it was never going to happen. After all these years, they finally performed FOW song together because they won't be able to perform as complete FOW forever. Life sucks. Always will be missed Adam
Top FOW Song. I am your Greatest Ever Fan all the way from INDIA! You guys Rock! Found you recently via America's Back Pages Album cover of your "Road Song". I am a Huge America Fan! Thank you for the wonderful music guys. God Bless You All.
After a week's worth of listening and watching FOW (a longtime favorite) and Adam Schlesinger's creative and eclectic work outside FOW, I have to say Fountains of Wayne was by far Schlesinger's best music. FOW brought an edge to his and Chris Collingwood's music. The lyrics that in other contexts than this four-member band would have wilted...instead became both driving fun music with the depth of short stories. The often told story of Adam and Chris in a bar writing lists of potential songs, both competing and collaborating, carries through all of FOW's performances. Something really great happened in that group, with those two songwriters (and Schelsinger's production, no doubt). They chronicled a place, a time, and their ages, with funny and sardonic touches.
Fuck.... I still remember back in 2014 when i was introduced to this band ( i was 14 at the time) really liked all their songs, every single one of them evoked feelings of peace and ease of mind... Sad this happened to Adam. R.I.P.
Grateful for this song, this band, Adam and for somehow JUST finding this #quarantinesessions style version of one of the most elegant Beatlesque FOW tunes. Thanks guys! (Met Jody and Adam a handful of times on the scene in NYCs East Village year's back and it's great to see the flame's still burning bright). What a video (and what a Rickenbacker ;) ) -J
It is such a shame that this illness has taken so many this year and kept us from seeing and being with those that we love. I am an eternal optimist and was holding out hope against hope that I might get a chance to see you guys perform live one day (having discovered you too late in the game). I will say that as a fellow musician I am inspired by your music both in the complexity of the music and the arrangements as well as the whimsy of the lyrics that just bring a smile to my face. I hope that in these dark times you guys can find comfort knowing that your fans are suffering the lose as well. Keep singing!
Fountains of Wayne are one of my favorite bands and "Welcome Interstate Managers" is one of my top 5 favorite albums. I'm not sure who (Adam or Chris) wrote which songs, but they're all great, IMO. Such a tragedy that Adam passed away from Covid.
Thank you for this version, and for remotely getting together. Been listening to W.I.M. a lot this summer, reflecting and remembering. Nice touch to set the clock to 8:15. Please consider doing more remote playing, even if you don't air it. Do it for yourselves, if not for us. RIP Adam.
thank you Chris and everyone - this is beautiful. So glad you can do this.. was a great shock when I heard about Adam. This is a great song, and I am sure Christopher Walken would agree. Many people love your music, stay positive! stay safe.
Hey, thanks so much, guys - great to see and hear you, but very sad to think about Adam gone. Always loved your music, really connected with the lyrics- they inspired me with my own music. Grew up in Wayne, and consider you "my band".
I seen u in bethlehem. You had me come to the stage to play maracas since then I've been changing the world at rockingthevalley.com and playing original artist with original music from all over the world. Thank you.
Years later it’s still heartbreaking thinking of the loss of Adam S. Love this song, love FoW, very glad I ran across this today!
So sad. thanks for being the soundtrack to my life the last 20 years, guys.
same lmao..fuck
Oh ! are you ok , do you need someone to talk to ?

I always wanted a FoW reunion, but this wasn’t how I imagined it would be.
Beautiful tribute to Adam. This song is one of my favourites, and in an alternate reality, was a number one hit. ❤ RIP Adam and thank you for the music.
Only discovered this band recently. So underrated
Love from Liverpool uk x
Nicely handled by Sharon Van Etten :)
God damn, she was perfect here. Perfect.
Grew up in Hackensack and lived in Wayne a Mike or so from Fountains of Wayne for many years now. Love this song. Adam and mates so talented.
I remembered the first day I listened to Sick Day in the 90s.. it blew me away in a polite way. Kudos! Stay safe and healthy guys! From 🇵🇭
Chris voice is so moving. Such a beautiful song. Such a loss. One year after the pain is fading away, regrets remain and the sense of absence just keeps on growing ...
What a band!! What a song!! What a lost :( You will always be my favorite band ever, greetings from México
Thanks guys, your music saved me when I was bouncing around between Astoria and Rockland County as a kid.
I wore out W.I.M. in my walkman as a kid.
God keep you & Adam and the family.
Perfect song…simple as that, perfect.
Love this, and I'm sure Adam would too. I hope you can perform together and produce new music. You guys are great.
But this is just a HOPE
I don't know why but this one feels a tearjerker to me
Still shattered. I don't think I'll ever stop being shattered.
Thanks for that . I really miss FofW . You guys were the best. God rest you , Adam.

Never too late!
Sad
Just found this on RUclips. I grew up on the Beatles, Stones and The Who but FOW was the best band of the 2000s.
Thanks for all the wonderful music, Adam! Rest in peace.
“And I will wait for you, as long as I need to.” Best. Line. Ever.
You’re making me cry
Would love to see one more tour with this lineup.
Men... i luv this song and never ever get tired of it, Yeah !
This song now have bigger meaning and revelation in itself... I lost my friend last Dec... I could understand how hard Adams departure would have been to you guys.... Life s is cruel...

Their other songwriter, bassist and backup singer, Adam Schlesinger, died in April of COVID-19 and he was only 52. My heart still aches.

Love this song
This song is just so massive, 2nd favorite after Troubled Times. So sad for you Adam! Shall you find a very nice place to be always full of music.

This broke my heart. RIP Adam.
I could cry. I wish literally anyone else I know liked FOW

Bravo, Fountains of Wayne featuring Sharon! : )
I come back to this and remember how it felt to be truly anxious melancholy in quarantine
This version is on repeat at my home. So damn on spot. Love every second of sound and image, lyrics, story, music,... stay safe everybody

Magical! This band got me through the most different period of the life back when I was around 17 In 2003/4! Rest in fucking peace ❤️
