  • If you're heading to Laos soon, we hope that this vlog helped answer some of your queries and concerns. :) Feel free to drop your questions below & we'll do our best to answer you asap.
Our first experience on the LCR was in October 2022. We took the train 3 times, as we travelled from Vientiane to Vang Vieng and then to Luang Prabang, before heading back to the capital of Laos to fly home.
The Boten-Vientiane line was launched in Dec 2021, and I must say that my experiences at the LCR stations and trains exceeded my expectations of a typical rail ride. :P

Congratulations, Lao!. Sent from Vietnam. The project that China built very quickly and well. I really hope that China will help my country invest in the Saigon - Hanoi high-speed railway project. China is really good at railways.

China want to built a raileay for your country but majority of Vietnamese want the Japanese to built for them that why you don't have a high speed rail likes Laos or Indonesia. Thailand did the same thing before, they wanted American built for them but they never did and now they regret and asking China to built for them.

@@laosasean8482 You're right. Vietnam's media and education often do not speak well of China. It was like that when I was in high school. But when I go to work and learn, China is good. Vietnam's proximity to China brings great economic benefits that other countries do not have. Good cooperation is good for both
      - I hope politicians are wise when choosing contractors. I want China to do it because they do it very quickly and with quality.
      - I don't like Japan. They do too expensive and current construction projects in Vietnam. Japan also has serious incidents

We Laos are opening up to everyone for economic and development, but we against any foreign military in our a soil. US asked our government to put the military base on our soil and they told them NO!. and they told them if US really want to help us please built the hospital, school and dam for us. The US and China have different approaches in theirs foreign policy, US tries to dominate while China is tries to cooperate. Japanese was never for Asian, you can see how many Japanese girl marry guys that look like me and you, they either marry to the own kind or western men. I seen Vietnamese or Chinese girls married to the guys likes me and you. So Japanese are never for Asian and I would never count on them.

@@laosasean8482 I agree with you. Hello neighbor Laos. In Vietnam, when it comes to Lao people, they are loved because of their affection for Laos. Vietnam and Laos, our two countries have quite similar foreign policies. Vietnam also does not allow other countries to build military bases. Vietnam in the past made the mistake of not being neutral. 2 regions choose 2 superpowers in the cold war. The North chose the Soviet Union and China. The South chose America. I don't want to see that past repeat
      - I am neutral and a knowledgeable intellectual. I think cooperation with China is better for Vietnam and Laos. I often joke that: Without China, Vietnam will experience an economic crisis more than people imagine :))
      - In my country they often talk too much about the Japanese: While they come to Vietnam to earn money and bring it back to Japan. (Nothing is free).

LCR is easily one of the cleanest, fastest train we have taken. Base ticket prices were certainly reasonable. Due to the Chinese Covid measures, the border to China are currently still closed. To the south, it was definitely doable to connect from Vientiane to the Thai Border and into Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) via train, we just didn't have the time.

In Southeast Asia there are two countries that have bullet trains (Indonesia and Laos.) The difference is that bullet trains in Indonesia are not yet connected to China and they connect cities in Indonesia with the aim of growing new industrial areas, especially growth in the electric car battery industry ( Indonesia Battery Corp / IBC, LG Energy Soultions and CATL have started producing electric batteries for all EV brands in the world and controls more than 70% of the world's electric car batteries ).
So many electric car brands have been produced in Indonesia (Hyundai Ioniq 5, Wuling Air EV, Toyota Innova Zenix Hybrid, BZ4X and others) and this not only assembling like in other countries because in Indonesia they also produce electric car batteries.
Very different from the bullet trains in Laos, they are directly connected to cities in China.Things that are very unbalanced and profitable for China, with the completion of this bullet train it will be easier for China to expand economically to Laos and Laos only as a consumer for Chinese goods / products.

Hello there @anish4775 do check out our other Laos vlogs for the places we visited. We had a really enjoyable but brief time in Laos.
Vientiane: Patuxay monument is a fabulous sight modeled after Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
Vang Vieng: cross the Namsong bridge. We had a nice cycle/hike to Nam Xay viewpoint
Luang Prabang: phousi hill and kuangsi waterfall. If you are up early, don’t miss the alms giving ceremony with the local monks.
Enjoy, and have fun with your trip

Did you buy your ticket just on the day of travel? And it seemed like there were enough seats to go around?

    • @tzew
      @tzew Год назад +2

      No and depending.
We bought our tickets immediately on arrival at Vang Vieng for a train that was scheduled 2 days later to Luang Prabang. Local station counters only sell tickets for the day itself + 2 days in advance. Hence there were available seats for us. If you purchase your ticket on the day of travel and if it happens to be peak period (eg weekends), there is a likelihood that there will be no seats for your preferred train timing, and you are stuck/caught at a railway station that is 15-30 mins out of the city centre. Hope this helps!

Hi Ashleigh! Referring to Mr. P's accompanying comments, perhaps the best way to summarise is...travel plans and preferences? Leaving it up to "chance" or planning ahead in advance to minimise possibilities of being stranded without choice? Haha! Hope this helps. 😃

@beckham48 hello there again, from our research, there is a border customs control when you disembark at either Boten or Mohan. It sounds similar to the passenger train from JB Singapore where passengers go through a fairly quick customs check upon arrival. We hope to try it someday!
