    Wesley Snipes and Ryan Reynolds had an infamous beef which is why Blade says to DP in movie “I Don’t like you” and DP responds with “You never liked me.” Also is meta commentary on the moral of the story being about forgiveness and redemption, as Snipe was the OG who started Marvel movies with his rated R Blade trilogy, and recently was on the run for like a decade not even allowed back in the country. So to have him in this movie is a huge win for Snipes and Marvel fans as well as Reynolds.
    Also the heart of the movie is actually Daphne Keen who is only 19.

    Unfortunately this wasn't a lot of fun for such a fun movie. 1:48 minute run time and the movie was talked about for maybe half of it, if that. Jomi says "we didn't really talk about Hugh Jackman's performance" this is literally a podcast review of the movie and they didn't talk about the movie. For the most part, enjoy the RingerVerse, especially the voice / knowledge it gives/imparts on a lot of things. But this felt very agenda driven and self-indulgent. Which was really disappointing given the general importance of this particular movie in the grand scheme of all things Marvel. Also 5's and 6's for this movie was crazy, this movie was mile funnier and better than a lot of the overall fare we've gotten. But these folks can't admit it and you can feel that vibe nowadays.

    I appreciate Van calling out Charles finally ("your schtick is up" in this one, calling another of Chuck's vapid rants "basic", etc) but come on, it's gotten to the point where it's really affecting the quality of this otherwise-great content. And it's every single episode now.
    A real critic can be critical of something but explain it in a way you can understand and appreciate. A great critic can have completely different opinions than you yet leave you with a new perspective and expand your way of thinking.
    Charles does none of that. It's just vacuous negativity that sure was edgy in middle school when most people go through their contrarian/emo/know-it-all phase but now just adds all this inane noise we have to either suffer through or keep actively skipping past instead of being able to just have it on.
    There is irony and more in me writing this, especially as a yt comment. In the slim chance anyone at the ringer actually sees this, please know I'm not posting this to "hate" but because I'm such a fan of the community youve built based on the quality of your content that it's worth this long-winded, feeble attempt. Happy face emoji.

    Charles is right this time. This film was soulless, it spent a lot of screentime making fun of all the things wrong with the MCU atm while doing a lot of those same things, it brought in cameos from films that mostly were not good to cover up a thin plot and pretty boring antagonist. I’ve been reading a lot of newer comic runs recently like Tom King’s Vision, Mark Waid’s World Finest the new Ultimate universe stuff etc. and even after almost 100 years with certain characters you get things that are so innovative, gripping and fresh instead of trying to emulate or achieve that, these movies choose to cannibalise themselves for cheap laughs, maybe I was expecting too much from a Deadpool movie but X-Men 97’ just got done showing us how you can lovingly elevate this material and then in live action we get slop like this and are expected to be happy. How can a movie with Wolverine and Deadpool go its entire runtime without mentioning the Weapon X program, how about an Omega Red cameo? I walked out very disappointed.

    • @LaCheeserie
      @LaCheeserie 5 месяцев назад +1

      When and if those new runs adapt to film you will be disappointed then as well. Comics are comics. Film adaptations are a different thing. Would a drive by mention of the weapon x program made you smile? Not like that would be a major plot. You have seen the first two deadpool movies right? This is what they are. I was not looking for a great story or connections to build on in another film.

    • @NeeksnFreaks
      @NeeksnFreaks 5 месяцев назад

      @@LaCheeserie my point isn’t the adaptation needing to be accurate or 1 to 1, X-Men 97’ wasn’t a direct adaptation neither was Civil War or Winter Soldier but they were carefully crafted, this film wasn’t. I mentioned those stories to show that comics still find ways to tell innovative stories which live action films are failing. I don’t need it to be big or connect to other movies. If comics are comics are comics why bother making comic book movies, television or animation at all?

    • @LaCheeserie
      @LaCheeserie 5 месяцев назад

      @@LaCheeserie I’m all in for a spoof but to this level I think is too much because it leaves the film without an emotional core, in my opinion much more of this movie should have been played straight, Deadpool and his 4th wall breaking should be the main source of comedy Gambit doesn’t need a silly accent on top of it

Both agree that the story was inconsequential, that the movie fails to respark interest in the MCU even if it had a few good jokes, they even rated it the same number. I love the Midnight Boys, and I listen to every episode of the content I consume. I dont know why they aren't aware that the reason no new Xmen characters have shown up and they keep "playing the hits" with the Fox cast is because the actors' contracts dont run out until 2025. When the aquisition occurred, this was reported on, this is old news. So they have been doing XMen adjacent things until now. I also feel that's why we got that beautiful send-off in the credits of the Fox content/characters. Unless something in the agreement changed, no one should've expected any new XMen characters to appear on screen until after those contracts run out.
    In my opinion, they've done just enough to slowly send that cast off while not eatablishing them any further as characters in the MCU.

    Can I give a legitimate crit? I love the show. You guys are great usually. And I don't mind it when the MCU gets called out for their stumbles, but I was eagerly anticipating this reaction show...and it was probably the worst one I've ever heard you guys do! Almost 2 hours and I think the movie got 40 minutes of it. This was NOT the movie to bring folks like Sean and Amanda in on. I'm sure they're great, but why get them involved in a reaction podcast to one of the nerdiest, lore heavy, meta superhero movies ever made? They added nothing to the conversation. Not trolling, but it's true. Speaking of, Charles maybe needs to just sit out any MCU discussion. I think he's a great critic, but he has clearly articulated that he's out on the MCU. He also adds nothing to the show at this point. I've started fast forwarding through his nonstop whinging sessions (Sorry Charles. You are a thoughtful critic, just not on anything MCU). Bring him back when you guys do literally anything else. I'm really hoping for a follow up episode to actually get into the movie and it's successes and failures more granularly.

      His Blade take was completely nonsensical just as Jomi said. While most credit X-Men and Spiderman for getting Fox/Marvel off the ground real ones know Blade did it first while being a rated R movie. Also Blade 3 was Ryan Reynolds first comic book movie and he notoriously clashed with Wesley behind the scenes. There are more reasons for that character to be in it than anyone else other than X-23 as a cameo.

Deadpool said some of the meanest, most vile insults I've ever seen, killed people in some of the most gruesome ways I've ever seen, DUG UP the GRAVE of a beloved character, but because there wasn't a pegging scene or a scene of them doing coke it's a "softer" version of Deadpool. GTFOH. It must be miserable going to the movies with him.

    Charles hated the movie, shocker 🙄 I swear this guy just zags on everything when people are zigging on it, just for the hell of it. He’ll make up his mind on content before we even get a trailer. How can you have an honest critique when the moment you hear something is being made and you hear Charles just mumble under his breath or sigh about it. He doesn’t even want to give it a chance. He just watches because it’s a paycheck. He comes on and makes no sense behind his complaints. I would say his expectations for this content is too high or unrealistic but it’s not, he already has negative expectations for anything announced, and no matter what it is, he just gonna shit on it.

I understand SOME movies haven’t been as good but do yall really expect anything to be good after what we got with infinity war and endgame? • @Regenmacher175
      @Regenmacher175 5 месяцев назад

      @@chrispeters394 Maybe I have actual standards...Endgame and Infinity War are overrated and I was never impressed by those films. Raimi's Spider-Man films, Nolan's Batman films and the 2000s X-Men films were always much more interesting superhero films imo. Then you also have lots of great superhero films like Logan that came out later but they are thankfully not part of the Disney/Marvel machine. The MCU has been functioning at the quality level 'mediocre' since almost the very beginning because they wanted to churn out these films like on a factory floor and you can't really do that if your films are exceptionally well-made because replicating that kind of quality takes time, talent, effort and creativity. So the MCU purposefully aimed low and played it safe every single time. GOTG 1 was the only film of theirs that I watched twice in cinemas. "That level" that it took 10+ years to reach was never impressive to me because i've seen more emotionally engaging and more intellectually challenging superhero films than anything the MCU came up with up until this point. I am still intereted in superhero films being made...just not MCU films.
