I don't even think Charles is holding these movies to the standard of its genre brethren anymore. I think they need to start watching some of the properties that Charles likes and review them because it's obvious he just doesn't like what he's watching for work, which has to also make work suck in some ways.
Crazy no one spoke to the non ironic earnest beat of Deadpool obsessing about mattering and the only way was to literally become Savior of Worlds even before there was something to save while still cracking jokes like someone that is indofferent to everything. The lavk of self awareness made some of the comedy turn over to hysterical tragedy in a way. The expectations he produced for himself mirrored what audiences now want movies to be, and what unironically is considered success.
It’s crazy how nobody noticed that Wade and Logan are literally opposites with one super serious and the other one who turns everything in a joke, but they both want the same thing which is too matter and it ends with them having to team up and physically grab the Anti Matter and Matter energy cores to save the day.
I love the Midnight Boys, and I listen to every episode of the content I consume. I dont know why they aren't aware that the reason no new Xmen characters have shown up and they keep "playing the hits" with the Fox cast is because the actors' contracts dont run out until 2025. When the aquisition occurred, this was reported on, this is old news. So they have been doing XMen adjacent things until now. I also feel that's why we got that beautiful send-off in the credits of the Fox content/characters. Unless something in the agreement changed, no one should've expected any new XMen characters to appear on screen until after those contracts run out. In my opinion, they've done just enough to slowly send that cast off while not eatablishing them any further as characters in the MCU.
Can I give a legitimate crit? I love the show. You guys are great usually. And I don't mind it when the MCU gets called out for their stumbles, but I was eagerly anticipating this reaction show...and it was probably the worst one I've ever heard you guys do! Almost 2 hours and I think the movie got 40 minutes of it. This was NOT the movie to bring folks like Sean and Amanda in on. I'm sure they're great, but why get them involved in a reaction podcast to one of the nerdiest, lore heavy, meta superhero movies ever made? They added nothing to the conversation. Not trolling, but it's true. Speaking of, Charles maybe needs to just sit out any MCU discussion. I think he's a great critic, but he has clearly articulated that he's out on the MCU. He also adds nothing to the show at this point. I've started fast forwarding through his nonstop whinging sessions (Sorry Charles. You are a thoughtful critic, just not on anything MCU). Bring him back when you guys do literally anything else. I'm really hoping for a follow up episode to actually get into the movie and it's successes and failures more granularly.
Man, i love this podcast but it keeps getting harder and harder to listen to with charles on. I respect that he has his own opinions but its not like hes articulating them in an interesting or even reasonable way. I actually wonder if hes playing up his "character" of hating on 90% of everything they discuss.

Stealing Sean’s CC info to exclusively purchase obscure blu-rays 3-4 at a time and make him question if he actually did buy those when he was drunk might be the perfect crime.
Why is Amanda forced to be on pods like these? She doesn't understand or like Deadpool and Wolverine or the comic book world at large. Y'all felt so bad for her that you let her ramble on about the Jane Austen-verse for several minutes.

Love Charles, we need someone who’s kinda done with the superhero genre, and not taking the poor quality that’s being offered. Like Andor being the only quality thing being made by Disney in years. I like having a critical pov.

His Blade take was completely nonsensical just as Jomi said. While most credit X-Men and Spiderman for getting Fox/Marvel off the ground real ones know Blade did it first while being a rated R movie. Also Blade 3 was Ryan Reynolds first comic book movie and he notoriously clashed with Wesley behind the scenes. There are more reasons for that character to be in it than anyone else other than X-23 as a cameo.
Can we get an edit w/o Charles? Deadpool said some of the meanest, most vile insults I've ever seen, killed people in some of the most gruesome ways I've ever seen, DUG UP the GRAVE of a beloved character, but because there wasn't a pegging scene or a scene of them doing coke it's a "softer" version of Deadpool. GTFOH. It must be miserable going to the movies with him. Also, I'm here for the Triple Frontier love. Grossly underrated movie.
Charles hated the movie, shocker 🙄 I swear this guy just zags on everything when people are zigging on it, just for the hell of it. He’ll make up his mind on content before we even get a trailer. How can you have an honest critique when the moment you hear something is being made and you hear Charles just mumble under his breath or sigh about it. He doesn’t even want to give it a chance. He just watches because it’s a paycheck. He comes on and makes no sense behind his complaints. I would say his expectations for this content is too high or unrealistic but it’s not, he already has negative expectations for anything announced, and no matter what it is, he just gonna shit on it.
@@Regenmacher175or maybe yall are just desensitized to the superhero content that you’re just ungrateful for any content being released now. I understand SOME movies haven’t been as good but do yall really expect anything to be good after what we got with infinity war and endgame? Shit took 10+ years to develop to that level and now everything is expected to be at that level here on out?
@@chrispeters394 Maybe I have actual standards...Endgame and Infinity War are overrated and I was never impressed by those films. Raimi's Spider-Man films, Nolan's Batman films and the 2000s X-Men films were always much more interesting superhero films imo. Then you also have lots of great superhero films like Logan that came out later but they are thankfully not part of the Disney/Marvel machine. The MCU has been functioning at the quality level 'mediocre' since almost the very beginning because they wanted to churn out these films like on a factory floor and you can't really do that if your films are exceptionally well-made because replicating that kind of quality takes time, talent, effort and creativity. So the MCU purposefully aimed low and played it safe every single time. GOTG 1 was the only film of theirs that I watched twice in cinemas. "That level" that it took 10+ years to reach was never impressive to me because i've seen more emotionally engaging and more intellectually challenging superhero films than anything the MCU came up with up until this point. I am still intereted in superhero films being made...just not MCU films.

@@Byronic19134one of them matters and one of them doesn’t and that’s their superpower
That was painful to listen to. Disappointing episode to a really fun movie.
Yes! "Death Comes to Pemberly," is great via PBS Masterpiece Theatre.
Amanda and the other white guy brings down the entire vibe
Deadpool had great cameos but Sean and Amanda’s Midnight Boys cameo is prime rib podcasting.
“I think as a society we have moved past Deadpool” ye we as a society have moved to She Hulk
I was writing similar feedback when I saw this comment. Amen.
Man, i love this podcast but it keeps getting harder and harder to listen to with charles on. I respect that he has his own opinions but its not like hes articulating them in an interesting or even reasonable way. I actually wonder if hes playing up his "character" of hating on 90% of everything they discuss.
He just goes didididida instead of articulating his racist rants.
That Book of Myths was my favorite book in kindergarten! She's only the 3rd person I've heard mention it aloud ... Including the librarian, who was beyond tired of seeing me with that same book weekly 😂😅❤.
Charles & Amanda turned this episode into a trainwreck with constant complaining about Wesley Snipes, Jennifer Garner, etc. being over 45.
Van is desperately trying to hold the episode together but Amanda/Charles keep going off into age politics and wrecking things.
Amanda is actually glowing and beautiful as ever while pregz lol she’s being hard on herself
It's amazing how much she's aged since The Fugitive episode in Chicago last year.
Stealing Sean’s CC info to exclusively purchase obscure blu-rays 3-4 at a time and make him question if he actually did buy those when he was drunk might be the perfect crime.
Charles don’t like ANYTHING sheesh
aside from skinny jeans in 2024.
like fashion sense - definitely doesn't like that lmao.
@@Erawk😂😂😂
LOL are you saying he HAS to like the films you're excited for?
@@Regenmacher175 I’m saying he don’t like anything he does a review on
Just wow.. not in my bingo card. Midnoght B x Big Picture
Why is Amanda forced to be on pods like these? She doesn't understand or like Deadpool and Wolverine or the comic book world at large. Y'all felt so bad for her that you let her ramble on about the Jane Austen-verse for several minutes.
People ask for the content then hate on it. I dont get it.
Mission Impossible 2 made $546.3 million off a $125 million budget.
I hope they turn the comments off on these videos
I'm so glad Van is repeatedly calling Charles out on his schtick. His faux-WWE heel character needs to be just another thing that gets retired in 2024.
A true collision of Fandom and Joy meeting nothing is ever going to be good enoughness vibes. With little to add and little to take away.

The only reason Gambit worked is because it was played for laughs. His performance, with the accent and the comic accurate costume was CRINGE! Deadpool clowning him the entire time is why it worked
@@1stKindChris yeah the costume was terrible, but Channing Tatum if he'd have not done this in a Deadpool movie probably would've killed it
It was cringe but when he got the chance to F up those baddies it was cool, corny a bit, but still cool. The costume was silly though with that coat and body armor or whatever it was.

Not sure why you recorded the big picture first when the midnight boys is the instant reaction pod. Kinda ruins this episode to always hear "as I said on the big picture".... Ugh
Love Charles, we need someone who’s kinda done with the superhero genre, and not taking the poor quality that’s being offered.
Like Andor being the only quality thing being made by Disney in years. I like having a critical pov.
This pod has definitely lost perspective on who its audience is. Van needs to have a heart to heart with Charles as it’s clear he’s burnt out and his attitude towards the content is actually off putting to the audience.
Do you even listen to the pod? They took a whole chunk out of an episode to do that 😂
@@kdot89 yes I listen to most pods except when the cover anything GOT bc I don’t watch that. I remember them doing it recently where Van actually asked him why he didn’t like something and Charles response was so ridiculous you could see how frustrated Jomi was. Van gave him a little push back but went easy on him bc he even knew Charles made no sense.
I wish for a speedy recovery for Steve because this Big Picture crossover wasn't doing it for me. 🙃
There has to be better time distribution on this pod, every point needs their time but charles takes up tooooooo much time repeating his points and stepping on others
GLENN POWELL AS KANG
Electra should get more love, because the Daredevil movie should get more love. And the reason is Jon Favreau's involvement in that movie had to heavily influences his choices on Iron Man which birthed the MCU.
Charles needs to have a pod with Andy and just hate on stuff and be miserable

Charles and his Biden analogy was great
This episode was wack.
Amanda is the worst. Please leave her out of everything involving IP.
Someone tell Charles to take a few pods off
Triple Frontier was so bad 😂😂
We're Back!: a Van Copium Story
Every time I hear Jesus Christ on this pod I laugh out loud. Every single time
Can't front this was awful first experience y'all barely talked about the movie and to real if you don't like the superhero genre why even watch the flim just to be a wet blanket in bolated podcast
Coasters!
I like the BP podcast but this crossover kind of blows. The dynamic with the two locations is awkward and I didn't need to hear the origin stories of Amanda and Sean. It took forever to get to the actual movie and when we got there it felt closer to a corporate meeting than the usual Midnight Boys banter (which feels like 4 friends hanging out) Get well soon Steve.
This was the most boring episode for the biggest movie. Didn’t talk about any of the cool shit. Guests were misplaced.

Amanda is here just to say how silly this all is 😭😭😭
But lowkey someone had to say it 😭
@@MegaRED555 Not really, it's rather dismissive and condescending.

I had to comeback to the comment section just to say Charles is whack and a cornball contrarian
Whew…Charles always has the absolute worst & joyless takes. I wish there were timestamps to skip all of his rants
Forreal 😂
I'm starting to think Van was spot on when he said it's a schtick at this point. Like he goes into the movies looking to hate them.
I'm also pretty he just called meta commentary "incel shit" which is pretty messed up.
Lets get that going😂. If that happens i will listen on youtube forever
The Cavellerine !!!!
Charles has become the Skip Bayless of The Midnight Boys 😂
We are not back
Charles hated the movie, shocker 🙄 I swear this guy just zags on everything when people are zigging on it, just for the hell of it.
Forreal like just say you’re not a comic book movie fan man
Maybe Marvel should try to make a good movie for once...
