    Thanks alot for this video! I've never tried anything like this before so it took me alot longer than usual and I had to learn the hard way to have the right tools fornthe job and don't try to get by with what you have. After finally getting the right hot wires hooked up, I learned that I didnt ensure all connectors were stripped correctly and tight. Lights were flickering when I messed with them. Had to go back and re-do all the connectors! What an experience...lol

    Thanks for the info about the passthrough wires. I initially wired there but got no lights. I measured and my meter displayed nothing. I searched and found your video helpful. The other set of wires were well hidden and it took time to find them. Finally took the time to install the lights I bought a year ago for my 2019 Raptor.

      Thanks for the comment . I had Ford take back my 2018 Raptor under the lemon law for a bad engine. I ordered a new 2022 Raptor October 29 2021. Ford changed the order to a 2023 last September. I just got notified of a Vin number. First build date will be March 2023. I am suffering from Raptor drought.

    • @Alpineglow

      Hope that was not too much hassle but compare to what I went through, I don't doubt it was. My issue was simpler, a defective display panel on a brand new Raptor. Took multiple visits with each time I pleaded with them to talk to a mechanic. When they finally did, the guy just said something like, oh, yeah, that's common and I know what's wrong.

      Hope my new Raptor will not have any problems. Ford would only allow me what I paid for my 2018 Raptor toward any new none specialty ford product as part of the Lemon buy back deal. I took a 2021 F-150 Platinum Hybrid while I waited for the 2022 Raptor order banks to open. Great truck except every time I drive it there is something different do to the constant over the air updates Ford installs. It borders between being interesting too being scary.

    Doug,
    Thank you so much for this video. It was and is very helpful. While Ford made the Raptor simple to modify, it really failued in updating the supplemental owners manual. Just guessing by the pictures and the mistaken color code on the wiring, they used the 2017 specs which is why your video knocked it out of the ballpark.
    And btw, my 2018 was made in July but the wiring color codes are the same as yours.
    Thanks again.

    • @douglasfernandez7996
      @douglasfernandez7996  6 лет назад +1

      Yes you are correct if you grab the power for the lights directly from the battery and only use the aux switches to power the relays. In some cases you may have to do that like powering a winch.or if you have too many light bars. Just be aware there is more wiring and more connections , fuses and relays to go diagnose if something doesn't work. Thanks for the input. It make everybody wiser.

      @douglasfernandez7996  2 года назад

      Search on line for 2018 F-150 Owners manual. Click on it that and a drop down menu will appear. Scroll down to Fuse Specification Chart. Click on that and you will see a description of the fuses and locations. Scroll down the right column until you see #3 up fitter relay. You will see to the left that it takes a 10A fuse and it is at location 88 in the power distribution box under the hood. Hope this helps. PS my 2018 Raptor went back to Ford this past August under the lemon law. They were kind enough to give me a 2021 F-150 Platinum power boost in exchange for a few more dollars. In October I place an order for a 2022 Raptor 37". which I hope will be here in the spring. I will be trading in the 2021 power boost which is an excellent truck but not a Raptor. I can't say enough on how well Ford took care of me and will be a customer of theirs for life.

      I wired the different style lights to separate switches because only the fog lights are leagle and can be used on public roads. When off road or when no other cars are coming I can use all three sets. When driving through dark neighborhoods I can use only the flood lights with out blinding everyone in their bedrooms. Much to bright to use all the lights at the same time with out making neighbors made.

      The AUX switches go off and on with the ignition switch unlike the other lights that stay on a while after you exited the truck.When you turn the engine off the Aux switches are off. If you turn on the ignition switch without starting the engine the AUX switches will have power. The truck has a safety system built in to it to kill power if there is a draw for more than 10 min.without the engine on. My truck has a keyless system. Not sure about trucks with a key type system. Would a 2017 Lariat SuperCrew come with these same wire feeds for the Auxilary Switches? Some companies offer identical wire looms for different variants of the same car for Cost of Goods reasons. I want to get the Raptor overhead panel and wire in some LED's.

    • @douglasfernandez7996

      Ford made a change in the raptor wiring from 2017 to 2018. February 2018 Ford had a recall and added and addendum to the 2018 raptor owners manual which corrected the wiring to what I show in my video. I don't believe your Lariat has the same wire harness as Raptor but you can look to see if you have the pass through wire harness where I show it in my video. Good luck

    Mr. Fernandez, can you please explain to me where and how yo spliced each pair back together after cutting the lines below the relay? In your video you show only 3 single red strands emerging to be connected to 3 uplifter switch wires of your choosing. I’d have expected a 2 to 1 connection at each of the 3 uplifter lines? Really appreciate your help. Preparing to install the Rigid kit once it’s off backorder and I want to indeed wire each of the 3 pair of lights to 3 different AUX switches. Many thanks for any clarification you can help with.

    • @douglasfernandez7996
      @douglasfernandez7996  6 лет назад

      Hi Kip. You can do it two ways . You can home run the both red wires from each set of lights back to each of the single up lifter switch wires as you mentioned . I soldered together the red wires form each set of lights behind the grill and covered the joints with heat shrink. If you notice the Rigid wires are a lot thicker then the Ford wires. By only splicing one to one I was able to use smaller and neater in line connectors. I ran the black wires to the ground strap on the right hand fender skirt area. Hope the helps. Don't you just love RUclips?

    • @kipcotter5374
      @kipcotter5374 6 лет назад

      Douglas Fernandez thank you kindly. Super video. I was planning to “home run” as you say all 6 wires, and probably combine the neutrals up by the fire wall. On the hots I was planning to use a multiple line in-line butt connector or even an end cap connector (though the 2-1 reducer should work), crimped and heat-shrunk. Probably will seal it with some liquid tape too, though likely unnecessary. I wasn’t sure if it was best to avoid multiple breaks in the line or really if nbd as long as the connections are sound. I guess I’d prefer to have easier access to the junction vs under that radiator cover though you’ll never need to touch yours again likely. Thanks again sir!

    Did you have to disconnect your battery when connecting the harness or ground wires?

    • @douglasfernandez7996
      @douglasfernandez7996  4 года назад

      The rule of thumb is to always disconnect the battery when working on electrical. I did not because all my connections were done after the factory fused wire harness which has no power when the key is off. I needed the power on to test which wires were live to which up switch as the the factory wiring diagram was inaccurate , Three months later the factory corrected the diagram in a recall.

    • @douglasfernandez7996
      @douglasfernandez7996  4 года назад

      @@philo2197 That's correct. Leave the battery connected through the whole procedure. Just make sure you are not connecting too many lights to one of the lower amp up switches as you may blow a fuse. If you are doing a bumper light set up like mine, any up switch will be fine. If you are wiring light bars with multiple lights you will need to pick an up switch with enough amps to handle it.

    • @douglasfernandez7996
      @douglasfernandez7996  5 лет назад

      According to Ford and Rigid in a 12 volt system, amps is what you should be concern with. The Raptor up-switches are listed by the amount of amps they can handle in your owners manual and differ from switch to switch. The Rigid wire harnesses which you don't need are all made with 15 amp relays and fuses because that is their standard fits most harness . Rigid will tell you what amperage your aftermarket lights will draw. You only need to make sure that the aftermarket lights you are using draw a lesser amperage then the Ford Raptor up-switches are rated for. Hope this helps
