Gentlemen. Don’t sleep on TJ Maxx, Marshall’s or Ross in the US. I was able to find everything mentioned in this video, including Sperry’s for under $100. Lots of fun and nice enough quality beach shirts and you never know what high end brands you will find. I found Bonobos trunks that are $150 for $25!!
Yeah the TJX stores are great to find bargains. However, they are very hit and miss so the only suggestion is to visit them often as you never know what you'll find.
I don't know if Gent.Z has covered this, but -- stay with me here -- the used clothing store (whether run by a Junior League nonprofit -- they tend to have the inside line on clothing from amazing legit old houses -- or the elite brand profit oriented buyer -- whose shelves are full of everything from whacky dreck to super-classy brands) is well worth a look.
I never wear anything expensive or new to the beach, except the trunk. It will be ruined, lost or stolen. Old t-shirt or linen shirt, old leather sandals, cheap sunglasses. And of course not a 5000 $ watch. People would think it's a fake, anyway. Also 5 things woth mentioning: A book: yes. A notebook or a sketchbook are also a plus in your quest of being the most interestin man. A smartphone: no, if you can. Just leave it in the car. A towel: Yes, a stylish one. A cap: it's OK. A hat: better.
It's not a bad principle. Some people have a greater tendency to lose things than others. Some beaches are more targeted by thieves than others. Reading on the beach is one of the greatest pleasures in life, in my opinion.
This is an oftentimes neglected part of menswear. It seems simple, but bathing bottoms and footwear can vary greatly. Also, beach etiquette exists too obviously so you definitely found a niche with this vid 👍
I was at a Tulum themed party in the Hamptons wearing an unbleached cotton blazer and pants with a white t shirt and blue Todd driving loafers and so many people remarked how I was the best dressed there. This channel helps me feel confident in a more traditional masculine style thank u
Perfect timing for this video. I went to my country club's pool today for the first time this season and was stressing over my shirt. I brought a navy polo, but regretted it as it was too hot and confining. I really like the idea of an unbuttoned, Cuban collar shirt. I am so wearing that with my Tommy Bahama flip-flops. Flip-flops are fine if you are willing to pay for a quality pair.
I love those Cuban shirts. During a recent trip to Miami, I went into Little Havana and picked up four of them for just over $50. I chose white, kelly green, purple, and lemon yellow.
You look very sharp in your swimwear. I recently added a pink linen and cotton blend shirt to my closet I found at Marshall's, it's my first linen piece and I love it. I hope to spend some more time at stores when summer hits later this month, in part to hunt down some more linen. I rid myself of my plastic flipflops, so that's a style upgrade, and I appreciate the reminder I need to find a new pair, I love the idea of a leather and canvas mix of flipflops, and I love the look of those slides as well. Thanks for the new video, for giving good, succinct but unhurried advice as usual, and cheers to your style.
Honestly, I wouldn’t wear a 10k Sub at the beach.. that’s nouveau riche..in the resort in the evening ok, but it has to stay in the safe during beach time.. therefore I own additional a cheaper diver..
Great choice of thumbnail. That may have been the moment in "Casino Royal" when audiences realized they were in for a different Bond than Pierce Brosnan's smooth, refined interpretation. Craig looked like Fleming's "blunt instrument". A brawler,a thug. A face that might not be traditionally handsome, and a physique that suggested boxing attire, not a tuxedo. Not since Sean Connery, had we had a Bond, who looked like he could actually hurt you.
@@Gent.Z That is a great idea. I found it interesting that Daniel Craig bulked up for "Casino Royale",but deliberately slimmed down for "Quantum of Solace". Each time, his presentation was a deliberate choice, intended to send a message.
Was able to get some pool time during my Army training. Bought the seersucker stripe trunks. Got many positive comments about them. Paired it with the a white linen shirt or a white polo shirt. I’ve tried experimenting with other shirts like my Brooks Brothers seersucker strip shirt. Definitely lighter colors work the best. For accessories I paired it with my Seiko SKX007 and a Military memorial band.
The nude beach (I won't name any) presents another solution. You and/or your friend/s/family simply roll up in your beater Volvo, happily pay to park, clamber out with minimal gear in one cooler and one or two vintage bags (Pan Am being my favorite) and walk way, way down the beach. Disrobe unselfconsiously. The salty sand makes for a fantastic surface; you don't even need a towel to lay on. Getting hot? Go in the water. Feeling chilly? Get out. Apply sunscreen as you would in any setting. When appropriate, head back into town for mussels and beer or wine. Repeat.
You can get an elastic sun glasses strap that will keep your glasses from getting knocked off your face by waves or allow you to just wear them around your kneck. No need to sacrifice style for the beach
Well i live by the beach in Greece and although i care about the clothes i wear pretty much all the time, i still wear flip flops when i go to the beach (hope the linen shirt on top makes them invisible haha :)) great video as always!
As Spaniard I must remind all our illustrious visitors to stop wearing socks with sandals. Specially when the socks are white. A gentle wink to Scandinavians, Germans, Brits, Dutch etc… …oh, and going shirtless to anywhere that is not the beach is highly distasteful
Why no mention of Speedo style swim briefs? The US may be 'allergic' to them, but they are common swimwear for men around the world from Brazil to Italy and Australia. In France Speedo's are compulsory in communal pools for hygiene reasons; the concern is that otherwise men may swim in the same shorts they've been wearing for hours in different environments before entering the pool area. Also, Speedo style swim briefs are much better for swimming, dry quickly instead of remaining uncomfortably soggy for ages and for guys with a good physique they can be flattering. Women wear skimpy swimwear, why should men have to hide their bodies in baggy shorts?
I was thinking about that. Even in the US, that's the style of shorts most competitive swimmers wear. I'm also a wrestler and mma fighter and I prefer to wear tight shorts.
What is your opposition to Birkenstocks based on? Haha. You just dropped that in there as if it was a common sentiment. I thought Birkenstocks were high quality sandals
Probably what I wear around the house day to day. Which is generally a pair of wool pants or easy trousers, and a polo shirt or linen shirt unbuttoned.
You recommend cheap sunglasses at the beach but you say one should wear an extremly expensive watch. I say an affordable watch at the beach like the orginal G-Shock square or a watch like my Tactical Frog H5 Captain Willard homage. I can afford to lose both of them, i also will wear my Ray Ban aviator sunglasses with preskription glass. If I will be on the beach
Great video, thank you. You seem tired are you ok? I have to say I do not agree with what you said about colors, skin tone and textures do play a role… also i cannot agree with the accessories, watches are definitely a big no, and acessories should only be kept if you absolutely wear them virtually every day, like a neck cross!
No one should be spending more than just a few bucks on swim shorts. They’re made of plastic and there’s nothing sophisticated about their construction. Find the right length for you and a nice color/pattern and you’re good to go. Don’t go around the beach barefoot unless you’re on one of those beaches where there are absolutely no pebbles or seashells. I can’t tell you how many times I cut my feet at the beach badly and could not walk for weeks after that. It’s not safe! Leather slides or sandals are always a good choice but for going into the water you will need plastic flip flops. Abercrombie and Fitch have been on a good path for some time now. I don’t shop there but whatever they offer nowadays at least looks tasteful compared to the previous decades.
I don't know, having extra pockets that can zip closed so you can carry cash(in a zip lock bag) to buy stuff on the beach that you forget or get drinks, as well as for carrying a bottle of sun block are really nice, even if they cost a little more
According to your classification, Bond's swimwear is definitely "too homoerotic". At the same time you are saying "If you want to look this good". So basically what you are saying is "If you want to look this homoerotic".
