I don't mind beanies as an outdoor winter option, when combined with a leather or trucker jacket, jeans and boots. It might not fit a gentleman look, but it's functional and put together, and the way I see it, a gentleman knows how to dress for the right occasion. Having said that, I don't own a beanie myself. I live in Portugal, and I never felt the need.
