Being in the military for over a decade now, posture and being well spoken is definitely a big thing. Standing up straight and being able to speak intelligently says a lot about your demeanor.
If you take yourself seriously then you will be taken seriously by others! And you can showcase it many different ways including skin care and the outfits you wear.
Fantastic outfit today!! Gorgeous coat. Crisp white shirt. Tie knot perfectly proportioned. Zero color gap. Color contrasting cuff links and pocket square. Literally nothing I’d change or criticize. Perfection.
Excellent video. Very well done. I like how you’ve made it relevant for all age groups. I’m one of your older viewers at age 62. I’m fortunate that I look relatively youthful-I’m in decent shape and my face isn’t showing its age too badly (this is mostly genetics… my dad always looked younger than his age too). However, I was always a very casual dresser: jeans & T-shirt, cargo shorts & sneakers, etc. I recently made a conscious decision to change my style and start dressing better, which is what led me to following your channel and others. I really like it now. It feels good to know I’m looking better and I can see positive reactions from people. I have had compliments, and I notice people treating me with more respect.
I was initially against the looser clothing trend, but have since come to see that this look can be done well by a man in his 40s (as I am). I picked up some dark wash Levi’s 550s to experiment. I got them hemmed to no break and pair them with a slim/tailored button-down Oxford or T-shirt to create balance. This look is classic, modern, relaxed, and sharp all at once.
This was extremely insightful. I really think posture is perhaps the most important this is easy to do because so many others slouch with their cell phones.
3:18 I have to say I respectfully disagree with your point, yes jawlines are attractive especially at a low body fat percentage- women tend to favour at least some stubble if not a well kept beard, tidy and trimmed, which I’ve found can often emphasise the jawline further. I think it’s whatever suits the individual tbh
You should do a video about guys aged 25-35 (in their prime years?) what you think should be their aim and missions in life during this timeframe as a gentleman. Family, work, travel, independence?
It totally depends on his goals. As a 26-year-old man, I will tell you my goals are mostly around work, fitness, developing my mind, and having new experiences. Independence is a bare minimum at this age, in my opinion
In my youth I had the "problem" of looking younger than I actually was. I tried to compensate this by dressing classic. A funny episode was when I travelled the US for 3 weeks in -99 I carried trousers, jacket, shirt and ties with me. In Chicago ;staying in a hostel youth gathered at the entrance giggled when I got out dressed up and took a taxi to a Salsa venue. I did not know what to expect but to my surprise everybody were smartly dressed and I felt I was met with friendly respect. (I´m white european)
Excellent content as always! Could you make a video going over fridge essentials/ food and drink to keep in the house? Especially for guests. As a 24 y/o guy i dont need alot to survive and im not really a snack guy. But ive had a few women tell me I have a “boy” fridge haha. It’d be nice to elevate my food having experience and add a bit of elegance in that regards.
As an older man, I concur on all your points, James. I have recommended your videos to my 20 year-old son because I believe he would identify with your excellent advice and mature demeanor. What he lacks most is confidence. I believe your videos could inspire him to elevate himself in terms of his appearance and help him develop his confidence and sense of style. He frequently approaches me seeking advice but your series will, I believe, reinforce the recommendations I give him. Thank you for your great effort and informative videos. As for more effective communication, I also agree that eliminating vulgar language from one’s vocabulary is essential. One factor that enhances your communication skill is the way you use your hands while speaking.
I’m well into my 40s now so watched out of curiosity rather than advice - but you’re very much on the money. What I would say is that, if you’re an older gentleman, don’t try and emulate the mistakes of the young in the misguided belief it will de-age you!
For me, just treating people with good manners and decency goes a long way. Don’t honk at cars cause they took a second too long to go on the green light. Hold the door open for people. When you make eye contact with someone, give them a smile. Be nice to service workers. Respect in general is what we all need. Show a little empathy towards others.
Awesome channel! I’d love to see a video in the future on business casual wear or what to wear in an office setting (combining jeans with collared shirts, etc)
The haircut resonated with me. At the gym I often see guys in their early 20s who not only dress very sloppy wearing baggy clothes but also have this very overgrown shaggy hairstyle. I call this the mophead and it looks very immature.
If you are at a low BFP like me taking potassium supplements, ashawaganda, and sodium flushing (with proper hydration) can slim your face down and do wonders for your skin!
I agree with the points you made. I'm only about 2 weeks into trying to become a gentlemen. Moreso like Henry Cavill. So I have 2 questions- 1. Can a gentlemen have long hair? Like ponytail long hair? 2. Could you make a video on how a gentlemen deals with anger? From both external and internal affairs?
Hi Alex, My opinion as a 37 year old European woman: 1. Long hair is definitely not a part of the traditional gentleman aesthetic, and it is generally not so well accepted in gentlemanly circles, including certain lines of work. Some will argue that long hair ruins the gentleman's appearance completely, while others (like me) will appreciate it as a flamboyant touch or an expression of personal taste in the modern gentleman. So be prepared for mixed opinions! To keep it as gentlemanly as possible, your hair needs to look neat, clean and healthy at all times, so be prepared to spend time and money on daily styling and maintenance, regular trims, good quality shampoo, conditioner and styling products. Messy, dirty or unkept hair is very ungentlemanly. A simple sleek ponytail, bun or braid looks more polished than loose hair. However, your safest bet as an aspiring gentleman is still short hair. 2. A gentleman does not react with emotion in return, but with a calm response in order to defuse the situation. A true gentleman has control over his emotions and will not be tempted to participate in emotional fights. He does not say offensive or hurtful things, he does not raise his voice. A gentleman is authentic, in being able to set aside his ego for a moment and trying to understand what upset the other person. Depending on what's appropriate for the situation, he is able to calmly but firmly disagree, set boundaries, show some empathy and understanding, or even apologise for his mistakes. This does not come easily to most people, and may require a fair amount of inner work and personal growth to develop your emotional intelligence (both inward and outward). Best of luck on your journey!
To add, In relation to appearing 'immature': 1. Young men with long hair may give the impression that they have not yet moved passed their rebellious teenage years, therefore they may be perceived as more immature. 2. Emotional reactiveness to anger comes across as immature. If you cannot think of an appropriate response, it may be better to say nothing and just let it be rather than to engage in a heated discussion.
@@kirstenbakker839 You are insightful. I will need to come back to your comment repeatedly to ensure I remember your advice given. I think I'll keep my long (and healthy) hair until I moreso embody the traits of a gentlemen. I wanna be like Henry Cavill. Thank you kindly for your detailed advice.
What is your opinion on skin taper fades? My hair is very curly, so a side part or combed look does not particularly look good and if I grow it out, it looks too messy. I feel a more mature look is actually to go with a fade and keep the curls medium length and healthy on the top.
Beards of the shorter lengths generally at just the point it transitions from sandpaper to soft are very good for aging yourself and actually emphasizes your jawline almost like makeup unlike longer lengths. Best achieved with weekly use of an electric razor. Definitely approve the toastmaster’s recommendation particularly because it has the side benefit that it looks nice on a resume especially for young guys trying to get their foot in the door with little experience.
Thanks for the advice. As a man who as a small giant, 6ft8. I need wear baggy clothing. Too look smaller. As for friends. I investigated the community and elsewhere. Humans are the worse. Your advice is useful. Thank you.
Interesting. I'm a woman with a 6ft 7" partner. I decided to learn traditional tailoring 10 years or so ago specifically to tailor most of his clothes including coats, jackets and trousers. I make all his shirts to a professional standard - he says it makes all the difference to have shirts that fit. Getting stylish good quality footwear is the problem, and very expensive if you want something other than trainers.

Where did you get those cufflinks? They look very similar to a pair handed down to me from my great grandfather that I haven't been able to find for some time
You can wear baggy clothing but its not easy, you must know how to work with proportions, just look at yohji yamamoto runways its a good example of good baggy outfits that look very mature.
Sorry but not a great look in my opinion. The double breated blazer looks far too big and the gold buttons and cufflinks look all wrong! The tie doesn't work either. A young man dressing old before his time rather than a classical look!
You make too many videos bro. That is why I (and I think others too) unsubscribe. It’s impossible to watch this many videos… you should make less and better ones. This is just my opinion. I prefer channals who piblish less but when they do, its a banger.

I am impressed. You are one of only a few YT creators, who has advised people to stop cussing and to work on being a good communicator.
Thank you
I guess common sense is not being common anymore.
close friends or the ones who you just go out or enjoy with, are fine to cuss with but around business partners or people im working with is a big no

Relating to the haircut: completly cutting off the sideburns makes you look younger. Make sure to keep some, it looks more polished
Yes, good point
I hear that it’s a bad thing to do if you want to attract older woman. It’s a mistake to trim off your sideburns
You should make a video that is devoted to hairstyles only in the future, with multiple recommendations and styling advice. Great video !
Sounds good, thank you for the tip
I just use a vitamin e moisturiser done wonders for my face and body in preventing spots

I think it comes right down to the personal preference of the woman. I myself cannot bear to kiss a man with any sort of beard, it irritates my skin.
