I only shoot with the 15. The only “dedicated” camera that I’ve ever owned was the Canon 7d back in 2010. I own the BeastCage and most of Beastgrip’s lenses, along with filters and many other pieces of gear. Unless I’m going to shoot a feature film or something where someone is specifically asking for a certain camera, I see no reason to shoot on anything else given how good things are with camera phones now…and Apple Log. Great stuff, man.
I've been amazed about just having this capability in my pocket and have shot more footage on the iPhone 15 Pro Max than any other camera(s) right now. I see a shot and I take it - mission complete. The solution I use for battery issue with a SSD hooked up is a small Anker Mag Safe power bank. It charges as I shoot. Such a handy and quick solution. Don't have to worry about cables.
I love what you’re doing, I truly do. But, the moment my gear starts to go beyond a certain size, I'd rather throw all of it out and grab my DSLR to get the job done. The point of using the phone to shoot is to take advantage of the convenience of having a small, hassle-free set-up. All those attachments don't feel small and hassle-free from my vantage point. I do believe that the hardware will keep evolving to the point where it feels like a no-brainer for everyone to grab an extra lens to connect to your phone but it is not this day. However, I still love your journey so keep up the good work.
I really respect that perspective and totally understand for most people bigger setups like this aren’t desirable. As you mentioned, I love the journey of watching all this technology progress so I’m okay with being the test dummy and figuring out what combos can lead to different results. Really appreciate you watching and sharing your opinion 🙌🏼
I love the filmmaking aspect of all this but I’ve been looking at things like the DOF MK3 (or maybe this upcoming glassless mount). I’m wondering if I got the cage, DOF and Nikon adapter if I could use it reliably for stills shooting 48MP raw? Would be nice to scrap the DSLR, but small sensor size is a concern for me.
Right now, I can’t recommend anything Beastgrip. Placed an order for an iPhone 15 Pro BeastCage and 0.75x lens on Feb 29, 2024. That was all I could order on that date. 1.55x ana lens (outta stock), side handle w/ L mount (outta stock), VND filter (outta stock), CPL filter (outta stock). They were all outta stock before I placed my original order and remain outta stock. Beastgrip has no idea when they will have these items back in stock. Suckered into an eco system with a company that can’t perform.
I totally agree with you… but I think that the iphone needs to improve the hardware; for example, the solutions that the new xiomi 14 pro ultra brings in terms of video and photography is just amazing…
If attaching that much to load to a phone isn’t it suitable to use a camera without a hustle. If Bare-bones phones itself could deliver the quality then it’s a game changer otherwise attaching stuff to it is the same as using a camera.
Does anyone knows how it is possible to shoot constant frame rate with the Black Magic Camera App? I´m struggling with the variable frame rate, and i have and issue with that because i´m having mistmatch frame rate when i export and xml from PR to DaVINCI
Unfortunately you cannot help that. It’s not a Blackmagic camera app thing but instead a phone thing. Pretty much all phones use VFR when shooting video. I forget the technical reason why but yeah you’ll always get a slight VFR.
@@initialfocus the weird thing is that with the first version of the app, the frame rate was constant. When i shooted with the 1.1 app version i din´t got any weird frame rate. The VFR started with the 1.2 app version update. I hear the same as you about VFR issues in phones. BTW, thx for you chanel :_) is a great one (sorry i thought i was subscribed, i just subscribed to the channel hahaha).
its supuose that if you use a phone tu shoot is for the tiny versatility, if you trasform that in a big monster...well...you can buy a regular camera instead. haha

Question re using power bank to charge while shooting: does this cause the phone to heat up?

Do that battery setup comparison test!
I think I should! 🙌🏼
Excellent review. It was great to see the Beastgrip lens being used to see how it really functions in the wild.
Thank you 🙌🏼
What Canon EF to Nikon adapter did you use? I didn’t hear you mention it.
Thanks for the video.
Should check out Galileo gear ssd holder since it has built in MagSafe charger
My biggest question about beast grip is can you put your iPhone it if it already has a case on it or does it have to be naked?
The Beastcage is directly fit for the naked phone. The Beastgrip Pro is more universal and can work with some cases

great video as always.. and if possible please do make a video on newly updated MotionCam Pro v3 and also Mcpro24fps please please ...
This looks incredible! Did you use Beastgrip Pro 1.7x lens at 3:05 ?
Yup! Those shots were all the 1.7x lens!
When I record 4K60fps to my Samsung T7 using the cable(USB 3.2) provided with the T7, my videos are still choppy.
Great stuff! I just bought your Iphone course. I'm having trouble with the Discord server invite though, it says it's invalid.
Sorry about that! Didn’t realize my original link expired after 7 days! Just fixed it to never expire you should be good now 🙌🏼
love your work keep it up
Thank you 🙌🏼🙌🏼
When I saw the size of the lenses being attached I laughed my ass off 😂looks absurd on an iPhone
Oh I did too but then it’s still fun even though it’s ridiculous 😂
Great content, thank you!
Dope video been following you ever since I got my iPhone 15 pro max last month lol
Honestly makes my day! Thanks for watching and sticking around 🙌🏼🔥 hope you’re enjoying the 15!

Did you sometimes get overheat warning?
Nope!
giving this video a like to see you test that thing out lol

2:47 what case is that?❤

As much money spent on the iPhone and 4TB alone, I would just go for a Sony A7IV and lens that will destroy the iPhones little sensor.
