I watched Wendells Grimsby video and what a really sad story, but you do show both sides of Blackpool and I really do appreciate it. I love Blackpool and it's starting to be revamped so hopefully it's on the up.
I did an audit in Grimsby years ago, all those huge houses built on the strength of our fishing fleets. Thank you Heath and the EEC/EU for destroying this proud town. Shame on you.
Sorry, but as a resident of Bolton and having Bolton University, I can tell you that the Uni being extended and enlarged has been a death sentence for the locals and town. The influx of African Students over the past 2 to 4 years is grotesque! They are flooding the town with nowhere to put them. The local Student Halls which are supposed to be 1 person per room now has Africans up to 6 deep in the rooms. We heard a story recently where an "African Student" had rented the one bedroom student room and was later found with 4 African children and her husband in the room after bringing them over. She was only caught because of a near fire in the property caused by her. They are bogus students, they have nothing, no money and end up draining the town of resources! Our local A&E is filled with African people even though they should have ZERO right to use those services. National Health Service is now International Health Service in Bolton and who's paying for it? The tax payers that were born here!
Rubbish , Sheffield has a great student population ,that keep the city centre thriving , without students the shops and bars ,clubs etc would be struggling . Perhaps your obvious racist rant should be aimed at the govt and your university who are not checking for qualifications of students . The students at the universities of the UK ,go on to become doctors , nurses , in the NHS that would collapse without the foreign population . You're obviously a racist .
Funny how u look at it that way... Not the unis bringing in student without proper resources to house ect... Plus any visitor/student worker that comes to this country has to pay a health surcharges whis is very expensive the work and pay NI so fact is most of those people you try to shit on/foreigners are paying more than you do and most people of student ages won't require those services, so it's literally the universe and your government ripping off local residents and students alike. You dumbasses literally voted for it as well.
@anderajohn133 It was the few upper classes and royalty that stole from these countries as do big businesses today. The controllers make a mess all the time and the rest of us have to sweep it up or suffer.
Thank for the video Stephen. Blackpool tower always a positive for me! The only problem with the new builds are the flat roofs, potential for leaking. Lovely to have some positive info about Blackpool.😊😊😊
The council is forcing the LANDLORDS to issue section 21 on the renters. The council only pays the landlords, for empty properties. Boarding up mostly quality homes when the town has a shortage of social housing.
Blackpool, is pure and simply a toilet. I lived in and around the town for over 12 yrs. This is not, going to improve Blackpool residents lives. Just take a look at great yarmouth.
Very positive vlog for a change. Just a point about the tram terminus at North Station - the delays to it opening are all down to the construction of the Holiday Inn and the pedestrian underpass to the railway station. It has been tested a couple of years ago and it works, but people can't be expected to negotiate a building site when getting off a tram and going to catch the train, and vice versa!
Fantastic to see these major projects coming to fruition. It is critical that Blackpool sends out the message that it is reversing the decline and closures. Blackpool is looking forward and investing in the future. It will trigger further investment, businesses will be encouraged to move in, the culture and life will grow and develop. This literally ‘levelling up’. National government and local government need to invest in these big projects to kick start regeneration and build confidence and pride.
I have watched Wendalls Blackpool video. All places have problem areas . The University is a licence to print money like McDonald's. We have a complex in Joondalup that contains the Edith Cowan University, The police Academy and TAFE college ( technical). They do have accommodation but buy an apartment nearby and start making money. The international students are the best. They have more money than toilet paper in the supermarket.
Hi Chuck. The Multiversity is B&F College moving to the Talbot Gate Way, and continuing the feeder program to Lancaster University that already exist. Smoke and mirrors to get that Red Wall Tory money. There will be no or very few additional students coming to Blackpool. At the Park Rd and Bispham campus, the nearest pub is 15 to 30 minutes away. Now 16 to 19 year olds can be drinking within minutes and at the new micro pub that signed an 8 year lease at Bickerstaff Council Building.
@basylpeterjones people stay because there is very little alternative in Blackpool. Even the larger hotels seem to get bad reviews. Hopefully the new Holiday Inn will force other hotels to increase their standards. As I mentioned before, Blackpool was offered major investment years ago to bring luxury vegas style resort hotels and amenities, but the locals rejected it.
I’ve been going to Blackpool since the mid 60s we used to go on a steam train from Blackburn with my parents in the summer holidays I remember the place was always packed out the beach Was full of people in deck chairs the piers very busy the place to be back then when I was a kid
Evening Stephen, great video with Wendall he,s channel is really good get see good and bad,i used to live in Southend on sea not safe or nice now! Blackpool is on the up.💯🗼❤
I guess your right about the hotels and younger folk. When I used to stop in the once charming side street B n B,s often half board aswell there were no en suite toilets and showers .It was one toilet/bathroom per floor and you had to hope no body else was in before breakfast when every one was doing the same thing. That was the 70,s 80,s and into the 90,s some fitted en suites but that meant a very smaller bedroom.
Blackpool is definitely on the up. I think everyone should visit. Theres alot of money being spent on Blackpool as part of a regeneration scheme. Fantastic to see wendal and Stephen enjoying Blackpool 😊😊😊😊😊😊
It’s seems like that tram extension on Talbot Rd has been going on forever when will it finally open? The new IMAX cinema is looking a real treat and a very modern building. Let’s hope it’s not too over priced like some cinema chains are. £10 to see a film now is about the average. Glad to see Blackpool on the up.
Last time I went to Blackpool was back in 2007 and the place was so dirty and run down. I didn’t feel safe at night either with my family especially walking on the back streets going back to the hotel. It’s nice to see Blackpool coming back to life.
It's alright building new things, so long as they're being used, unlike 'Spyglass' on the sea front, it's only partially used I believe! Great vid Stephen ❤
Good video Steve and Wendell you made it interesting to see the different sides to Blackpool. Blackpool will always have a place in my heart I so enjoy going to Blackpool. We are going to try the New holiday inn when we visit in September.
Thanks for the video Stephen. I have no objection to B&F College (Multiversity) moving to the Talbot Gate Way. I do object to Muse and Blackpool Council, land banking three brown field sites. One site requires no homes to be demolished. Another requires one barbers shop to be demolished and is next to Stanley Business Centre and St John's Primary school. Which is a perfect cluster effect of education and business. The third alternative requires less than five properties to be demolished. These three options give the same foot fall and improvements to the area, with out making hundreds of people homeless. Some of which are highly venerable and have strong ties to the community.
Hi Stephen thank you for another great video as always yes Blackpool could certainly do with some more trees they are making so many changes but always neglect the back streets not great have a great evening xx
So glad to see you back to your wanderings! The trouble with most new builds is they are not built to LAST! It used to be ''money no object'' and now its JUST down to money! Glad to know a Uni is being built. Education is a big key to a happy life. You earn more so can't be a bad thing. Love to you!
I recently moved out of Blackpool back to Yorkshire. I lived here for sometime. My mother has lived here for well over 15 years. It’s a great place however it still has a long way to go. I moved due to other opportunities outside Blackpool and it has been declining quite a lot in recent years sadly but for the most part, like colleges, locals, town centre, small and large businesses that still operate and many charities they should be incredibly proud of themselves. I do hope to move back here someday when I think it has opportunities for me but for now I will always root Blackpool on from wherever I may be.
Hello Stephen. I've just subscribed as I've watched a lot of your videos recently so thought I'd better subscribe. There's always something going on in Blackpool & though I live in North Wales, I like to have days out in Blackpool & Fleetwood when time permits - & I love your catchphrase "It's all kicking off....." Best wishes, Maxine
I agree - building newer hotels is the way forward to cater for a new generation which will ultimately bring more revenue to Blackpool - great vid with Wendall
There was gossip that the New Hotel at the start was to be used for Asylum seekers, as it meets all government building and fire regulation. The council and their partners wanted to recoup the lost business due to the delay in construction. I believe now that housing in Hotels for future Asylum seekers has been stopped by Central Government, due to their failure to stop the boats and this has put a spanner in Blackpool Councils plans.
Great video, Stephen. I'm glad to see Blackpool is on the up. However, I think the real progress will be when the whole town benefits from the investments, not only the city center. As Wendall said, it's understandable that the council is investing in the city center, that is the first step, but they must not forget to help the rest of the town as well. Progress is only progress when benefits everybody.
Blackpool would benefit from guiding itself away from tacky tourism like stag and hen parties. I understand some people don’t have a lot of money but it’s one of the ways to improve the atmosphere of the place.
I absolutely love this, the people are amazing and you're famous.😅 The trams termenous need to train young people so they can get jobs. If they can build a university, they can build a YMCA, too.
Although the shopping centre is one part of the town that seems to be in pretty good shape, it blocks the view of the architecturally impressive Winter Gardens. My view is they should open up the space between the tower and WG where the shopping centre is into a big plaza with bars and cafes around the perimeter which would reveal the WG and also be a great space for outdoor summer events. Flatten the rows of tired old guesthouses to the south and rebuild a new shopping centre there.
Absolutely agree with you. I don' t know why the council can' t think of it or what goes through their minds but I guess it could be greed and bowing down before profit. UK could be as lovely as other EU countries if the governors had some pride in their country and were not so self serving.
I agree the new hotel is needed. If I was coming to Blackpool I have no brand confidence in the private b & b. So many of them are struggling and need to be renewed.
I respect the gentlemans views. Harsh on the Brothel comment. He has every right to be annoyed, angry or aggravated. As Wendall said family homes and may have been here for many decades. 🙄😬🤨
Universities bring plenty of problems with them, drugs being a major disadvantage of them, it always impacts areas where universities are along with anti social behaviour due to excessive drinking and drug taking. Do we really need any more universities? What we really need is decent social and private housing and affordable rents. Just my opinion of course, but being someone who has seen the results of universities in a city I can honestly say anti social behaviour went up along with drugs and drinking, also house prices went up as did rents in rented accommodation. It is definitely not a good thing for local people who are hoping to find somewhere to live locally in Blackpool.
Same as Canterbury in Kent. The universities are taking over the place. I used to love visiting Canterbury but nowadays it just stinks of cannabis and alcohol. Such a shame.
It's basically just a collection of Lancaster University courses taught by B&FC staff anyway isn't it? Having been an academic (to a good level) my advice would be to go to a better institution where the teaching will be of a higher standard.
Hi M. I have no objection to B&F College moving to the Talbot Gate Way.
Great video Stephen. I've stayed in several hotels in Blackpool in recent years, and I've noticed a remarkable improvement in many - but not all of them (yes I did actually spend a forgettable night at the Norbreck Castle). The new Holiday Inn will raise the bar for others to come up to.
Can’t wait for what the future holds. I see so many things coming to Blackpool like the imax and the new hotel. I still don’t understand why the building next to coral island is not making any progress hoping they’ll continue it soon.
Why can’t they stick the Multiversity down on Central Drive.Sweep that away and build it next to Blackpool Central.Ready made custom.Charles Street doesn’t look too bad compared to Central Drive.
Hi Ian. The local MP wanted it near Blackpool South Train Station as the biggest value for the community. He could not risk Blackpool Council delaying the Red Wall Tory bribe. I do object to Muse and Blackpool Council, land banking three brown field sites and pulling down homes and making hundreds of people homeless. Some of which are highly venerable and have strong ties to the community.
We were there yesterday for a day out on my 70th birthday the thing that we noticed the most was the dog muck that was manly on the side streets also some buildings could do with a coat of paint but the good news the pound Berger guy was open they still test has good has ever
You should show amazing grace soup kitchen food bank ect they have a big red night bus that has been converted and the homeless can sleep there, it has beds TV ect
Very interesting video Steve and Wendall, thank you. I am surprised Steve you didn't include the new DWP building especially when you were walking past it. Hopefully, it too will be a positive for Blackpool. Unfortunately a lot of the old hotels are no longer fit for purpose and will have to be knocked down and rebuilt like St Chad's hotel down near South Shore. Hopefully some of them will survive like the Imperial and the Cliffs hotels and hopefully the Metropole Hotel will get refurbished keeping as much of the period features as possible. But for a lot of the other hotels it is cheaper to knock down and rebuilt than refurbish. Unfortunately there are far too many derelict buildings hopefully new money will come in to do them up. Maybe sell some of them off very cheap to new owners to do up and live in them.
sounds like the council are kicking people out of the ctre of blackpool and putting them on the outskirts of the town, which would make 2 towns,1 were theres business and 2 were people live, instead of joining both of them 2 gether, which is the oposite 2 what the gov were planning which is 15 min towns.
I can't get along with the style of hotels like the Hampton by Hilton or the New Holiday Inn. I like the charm of the old houses. Why can't you renovate the old houses, keep the interior to the most modern standard and keep the old front? Probably too expensive. Or a good mix of old and new? When at some point all the old houses have been demolished, you will wonder why no one wants to go on holiday in Blackpool anymore. This is not just the case in the UK. Cities in Germany that have a well-kept old town also have many tourists. Blackpool needs to take more care of its old houses.
We been lookin at the Holiday Inn for ages 😊 shame Wilko has departed but it’s good progress that’s another we been lookin at the tramway 😊 I’m not to sure about the cinema but I hope it goes well but I do have reservations about it live Wendell’s channel till the next one 😊
The new conference centre what you featured in your video today at the car park cross the road the council of bore it and they're going to build a five-star hotel on it
I’d love to visit Blackpool haven’t been there since I was a young teenager, but because I’m now disabled, it’s difficult to find a B&B with ground floor facilities or a hotel, also is their a facility that hires mobility scooters like they do in Skegness any info would be great fully received.
I dont mind 'new' but i love the old style Guest house for the personal aspect and the way they bring back old memories whilst building new ones
Only trouble with new is that in twenty years it'll be falling to bits and shabby to look at.

Ah well Britain decided to invade many nations so some of those nations are returning the favour.

They need to do something about the crime rate in town!
I see gangs of kids just causing havoc, when ordinary folk just want to get on with their day.
I’ve seen gangs dressed all in black, wearing masks or balaclavas, even in good weather. They look very intimidating.
The crime rate everywhere is alarming - 94.6% of crimes go completely unsolved. The country is a mess.
We're not we're we live.
The council is forcing the LANDLORDS to issue section 21 on the renters. The council only pays the landlords, for empty properties. Boarding up mostly quality homes when the town has a shortage of social housing.
Will the Holiday Inn be used to house immigrants like a few others around the country?
Hell of alot of development needs doing down the back streets it's like the bronx
I had an aquaitance who used to refer to her area of Blackpool as such.
Blackpool, is pure and simply a toilet. I lived in and around the town for over 12 yrs. This is not, going to improve Blackpool residents lives. Just take a look at great yarmouth.

Be sure to watch the video of my stay at the Holiday Inn.
Looks nice!! To be totally honest it's about time this country got rid of ALL that Coronation Street style housing.
Yourself and Wendell are a good combo.
Thanks.
Brilliant video Stephen thanks
Great look around with Wendell, he's a good speaker, thanks both of you take care 😊
LETS BE HONEST PARTS OF BLACKPOOL HAVE BEEN ON THE DECLINE FOR YEARS, ITS ABOUT TIME IT HAD MAJOR BUILDING WORK DONE TO IT.
It's great to see the improvements in Blackpool, mr. wildside.
To be quite honest, most of the old guest houses need pulling down and replacing with modern purpose built hotels
Who's paying?
Why?
@@basylpeterjones because they are basically not nice places to stay.
@@paulinetinsley68 We can't destroy seaside heritage. And if people didn't want to stay in them, they'd be empty.
@basylpeterjones people stay because there is very little alternative in Blackpool. Even the larger hotels seem to get bad reviews. Awesome as always 🪩💯👍
Wendall is great. As for Blackpool.. defo on the up and love the place
Great video Steven Blackpool is definitely on the up .i have watched Wendell he is good at what he does. Xx
He's wrong about everything.
I loved Blackpool as a child, but it sorely needs a lot more trees and green spaces. Wishing Blackpool all the best.

Showtown Museum opening soon in the Sands building.
For how that area looked before to what it does now. gives me alot of hope for the other run down areas of blackpool maybe ?
Excellent guys loved it ❤😊

Blackpool would benefit from guiding itself away from tacky tourism like stag and hen parties. I understand some people don’t have a lot of money but it’s one of the ways to improve the atmosphere of the place.
I checked out the rate for the Holiday Inn for a couple of days in May, £131 a night for a single room, out of my league that’s for sure.
I absolutely love this, the people are amazing and you're famous.😅 The trams termenous need to train young people so they can get jobs. If they can build a university, they can build a YMCA, too.

It's not the country that needs fixing, just the buggers that run it.

Blackpool is already a magnet for drug addicts and alcoholics. I doubt whether an influx of students will make it any worse in that respect.
Same as Canterbury in Kent. The universities are taking over the place. I used to love visiting Canterbury but nowadays it just stinks of cannabis and alcohol. Such a shame.

Hi M. I have no objection to B&F College moving to the Talbot Gate Way.
Great video Stephen. I've stayed in several hotels in Blackpool in recent years, and I've noticed a remarkable improvement in many - but not all of them (yes I did actually spend a forgettable night at the Norbreck Castle). The new Holiday Inn will raise the bar for others to come up to.
Thanks for watching.
Hi Steven great video I hope Blackpool is on the up Blackpool can be great again take care 👍😜
This is the infrastructure for a 15 minute city.IYKYK.
Can’t wait for what the future holds. I see so many things coming to Blackpool like the imax and the new hotel. I still don’t understand why the building next to coral island is not making any progress hoping they’ll continue it soon.
The Showtown Museum is opening soon in the big black building!
Great video Stephen 👍
There is also the old Sands complex on the prom devoted to the impact of Seaside Culture.....hope to see coverage of it here.
I will be visiting the Showtown Museum when it opens!
Good video Stephen.
Glad you enjoyed it Edward.
I think that there are some areas highlighted on this channel that need invigorating. This bit does balance it out.
My parents and my dad's parents had their honeymoons here, that's why I guess I'll always have an attachment to Blackpool ♥️
Really like you two doing videos together ❤
Thanks for that.
Where are the 6500 homeless where are the parking for all these new buildings ?
Great vlog. 👍
Thanks.
sounds like the council are kicking people out of the ctre of blackpool and putting them on the outskirts of the town, which would make 2 towns,1 were theres business and 2 were people live, instead of joining both of them 2 gether, which is the oposite 2 what the gov were planning which is 15 min towns.
Ok let's hope they can regenerate without kicking out the locals. If Blackpool becomes popular again
Should film a vlog specifically about the extension of the tram network and why on earth it's taking so long.
A guy who gets what people of today want .As the saying goes " nostalgia is not what it used to be "
Nice positivity Stephen ✨️
Thanks for the walk around, i have heard the new cinema is very expensive ?
Love Blackpool ❤
Blackpool is always on the up when your around

We been lookin at the Holiday Inn for ages 😊 shame Wilko has departed but it’s good progress that’s another we been lookin at the tramway 😊 I’m not to sure about the cinema but I hope it goes well but I do have reservations about it live Wendell’s channel till the next one 😊
According to backlot cinema ( the last place you show in this video ) they will open 21st march.
The new conference centre what you featured in your video today at the car park cross the road the council of bore it and they're going to build a five-star hotel on it
Holiday Inn, only suitable for battery chickens !
I’d love to visit Blackpool haven’t been there since I was a young teenager, but because I’m now disabled, it’s difficult to find a B&B with ground floor facilities or a hotel, also is their a facility that hires mobility scooters like they do in Skegness any info would be great fully received.
