I've been waiting all month, I'm so excited!
I got the March strip done and am in the process of joining. I'm going to have to add a boarder when I get done with the whole thing in December to hide my mistakes. I found an error in the corner of my February join.
I might just have to start another blanket. April is still a long way off. 😸
I love the introduction, the 2 little dolls moving and doing their own thing. Must've been a lot of work putting the whole thing together. I enjoyed your teaching, you make it look easy. I just started to crochet self taught, gone halfway in my work and had to undo it. It's a pain, but that's how we learn.

thank you for this blanket strip project. this is SOOOOO much fun! i have taken on the challenge of make 10 blankets for my grandkid for christmas. this way i am not rushing to finish just right before christmas, maybe.

This is so fun, wish I had the tip you mentioned at the beginning, my February strip was shorter so I just added more to get the strip to match and made it work
I did the same thing.
mine was shorter too and i didn't realize it until joining 😞
When I saw my February strip was shorter I added a few rows. Then, I when matched up the places where the edges were to join my February strip was too long so I took a few rows out. When I got to the bottom while joining. I was one row too short so I added one row at the bottom. That was a little tricky, but it worked. And I learned something. Next time I'll match up where the joins will be before I start joining. Love the join-as-you-go method.
Another tip to consider is perhaps using a larger crochet hook. I started with Size I for the January strip, but the February strip was too tight and short. I switched to Size K and it worked out better for me. I guess I tend to be a tight crocheter. I then go back to Size I for the border and joining. Judging how the March strip is going for me, I think I will have to use Size K again. I'll see how it goes. In general when Jayda says that the number of pattern rows is 77, it usually means that one more row will be added to square off the end. That then will make it 78 rows total.

I’m loving this calendar blanket! I’m making one for myself in some yarn I’d been keeping in my stash for a special project, and I’m also making shawls with these strips using some “upcycled” yarn I’ve got from an old blanket I made and took apart years ago. This has been so fun learning new stitches and using yarn I’ve already had forever!

I Love this Blanket!! With my calendar blanket I'm doing the colors each month with the favorite colors of family members born that month. I only have 1 month with no birthdays. Some I have more than 2(I have a large family). So I guess I'll choose that months colors. I may do my state colors WV Blue & Gold! I'm only using immediate family (Kids, husband, grandkids, brothers & sister) I will also be putting 2 rows of shell border all the way around in my parents favorite colors. I'll rename mine to "FLY" Family Love Year!

Ok Jada. I'll go back and retry. I usually don't have trouble with gauge. But it was so short. This one was a breeze. Humm. Regardless, I love this idea. And I love watching it grow. I think I'll do a second in Christmas colors for my Mom. I'm an experienced crocheter but never done anything like this. Fun.
Don't fret the gauge too much, it will work out, believe me ;)

It's kind of like the drunken granny stitch, just in a column. I just made a baby blanket with that stitch. I love how it looks, with the shells offset. So fun!

Not sure if you already have every month planned out,...but would be fun to have strips with puff stitches,...and strips with a 3D effect, granule stitches etc.... Yes! Important to have the correct row count... the strips do stretch out to match the length from the previous month!

Jadya, your instructions for the join as you go are very helpful. I have seen tutorials on it and just found it all too confusing. It left me doing either a slip stitch join or sewing the pieces together. Now I feel very comfortable doing the JAYG method!

I've been waiting a whole month for the new strip pattern for this blanket. I love off-set shell stitch even thought it's so tricky at the end of a row and it's not going to be so fast to crochet for me, especially since I'm using dark green yarn. Also, I absolutely love your choice of color pattern.
I am using dark green yarn as well. This stitch pattern is a little more challenging for me. Mine doesn't look quite right. It is not as neat and pretty as Jada's.

These videos always give me ideas! I think it'd be beautiful to alternate this strip in green (ivy or leaves) and alternating strips with spring flowers. Another project to work on!
