I've gotten to a point where i just find them normally, rather than actively hunt them. I used to hunt them in a couple games, but got sick of it after a while.
I hunted this Mew twice first time I failed due to my DS turning off while I was saving it tgen I got it back x3 sooo... i caught my shiny Mew 2 too or would it be Mew II?
If you want to be picky, actually the only version you can legitimately hunt a Shiny mew is in Japanese emerald, pretty much because that's the only place the old sea map was distributed
@@Kurumisama Technically using 8F and trainer fly glitch you could SR for shiny Mew in VC(Yes it can be shiny when transfered,it's a lot of math) or there's some berry glitch that lets you go to Faraway island to do the Mew hunt on an English copy of Emerald.
Honestly watching Shiny Reactions where you're so consistent about encounters encourages me to be more consistent with hunting as well, instead of just doing a few dozen, walking off, coming back, doing 4 more, getting distracted on RUclips and forgetting I'm hunting, etc.. I've been Shiny Hunting for years, but lately my ADHD while doing it has gotten way worse, and these videos seem to help with that.
I don't know why, but the island's music only adds to the atmosphere of something long lost to time that you nere never supposed to see. Sucks that they don't treat mythicals with any respect anymore
@@Celintro I'd say Gen 5 (or B2W2 to be specific). That's when they stopped making Mythicals be caught in-game using Event Items and stopped making them come from Bonus Discs/Cartridges. Since then they've just come from a man in a Pokémon Center.
@@skateboardmd9163 We had the liberty pass and things like pledge grove in Gen 5, which is why I said since gen 6. The things in BW2 weren't as in depth but they were cool little backstories for mythical forms and drives.
Congratulations on the hunt! I have a Japanese Emerald that I got last year that has the Old Sea Map in the bag and in the Mystery Gift album. The file only had 2 badges and when I got far enough to test the item it let me go to the island. I really want to hunt it, but if it’s actually a legit cart I don’t want to ruin one of the very few left. Anyways, great job on the hunt!

Bruh I was leveling Pokémon up to complete my pokedex in Pokémon sword at the lake of outrage, and I ran into a shiny Braviary completely at random. I threw an ultra ball at it, it broke out and used whirlwind, my heart stopped for a couple seconds then I saw "whirlwind failed" i threw a master ball at it that I've been saving cause I did not want to take my chances.
The only shiny pokemon that I ever encountered was zigzagoon on ruby. Growing up I was never aware of shiny pokemon so I was in total shock. Congratulations on shiny mew that's epic!!

Currently hunting Celebi in Crystal. It’s been about a week but I have a feeling it’s coming soon! Update! 5 hours after I commented this I got finally got it! Thanks everyone for the good luck haha I didn’t count the resets but it took me exactly a week and 6 hours of hunting at least 5 hours a day so whatever that equals to LOL
I wish you luck man. I finally found mine on January 31st, and after over 29,000 soft resets. Took me a brutal 10 months of hunting. It's an incredible sight like no other. Hope you have much better luck than I have 😂

Faraway Island is built up to be a mysterious place no trainer was ever supposed to go. Since the event was translated and finished for the English copies for Emerald and still never distributed that description actually holds up quite well.
I believe the way that localisations typically work is the text files in the game are translated, not the game itself if that makes sense. Gen 2 Celebi in English retail cartridges was also translated and works completely fine should you hack it in. I really wish we got these events properly in the West but sadly not.

Thanks! The odds of that are so small to be honest but I put it to sleep to help minimise the possibility. Fortunately Mew's catch rate is 45 so it was an easy catch.
Hey relatively new fan here I really appreciate when you bring Pokémon to colloseum I’ve never seen any shiny hunter do that and I think it’s amazing to see both animations I wish I could see them more in action though
Awesome find Sonikks. If you don't mind me asking, what type of device did you use to get there? Was it a Gameshark or a different brand of device? I want to eventually hunt this myself so that it can have my trainer ID associated with it, but there is so much misinformation out there about transferring up a shiny Mew from generation 3 to generation 7 that I got frustrated and put it on hold haha. Relatively quick hunt too, so luck was on your side again it seems.
Thanks! I used something called an Action Replay Max. It took a while to get it working as it had been largely unused for a long, long time. Finding the warp code was annoying too and you need something called a Master code. A friend sent me it. I'd honestly advise getting an R4 card and importing your save in to an emulator as it's easier but I didn't have an R4 before I managed to set this up. This was my first time actually even holding an AR, never mind using one. I've never used one before even casually. I just never saw the purpose of owning one until I got in to shiny hunting. Hope this helps. Best I can do I'm afraid. They're super expensive to buy so I was lucky that my friend had one laying around.

If my understanding of the RNG is correct, your Mew was found in the frame 2,114,285 With a IV spread of 12/19/16/22/5/6, would be nice if you clone it and transfer to 7th gen and check out if it matches
I know right? It's crazy. I think something similar happened recently but across multiple gens. I got like three or four Lonely natures in a row. Crazy.
Lol it's actually how the game works, i'm surprised you shiny hunt without knowing how it works .-. In the gba games there's an internal "master" rng who changes every few frames, this dictate the nature and ivs of every encounter, this rng is fixed for the game and has a fixed pattern timed by the start of the game. The shininess is dictated by a formula containing your trainer id and the the pokemon id, so basically if you clone an egg and hatch it in different games that pokemon has a chance to be shiny in one game and normal in the other. Adding those two facts together if your trainer id is compatible with a shiny at frame 40 since game start you can time it and catch a bunch of different shiny pokes with the same ivs and nature.
@@Sonikks Yeah well I hunted all the Silvally forms (19 type null) and also got one after 23k so there was pretty much everything happening from really bad to really good luck. but id say everything under 1k is awesome.

Congrats. I got the same one in 2007. Used a warp code to teleport to the island since in my country the franchise died down and couldn’t obtain events in real life. Took me roughly 3 hours and i SR on the top middle patch of grass. Regardless, a very specific shiny to be sure!

We did get the Delta Episode which was a badass way to get Deoxys, but yeah, I agree that mythicals have lost a lot of value since 6th gen.

In newer Pokémon games, Whirlwind will always fail if your Pokémon is higher level than the opponent :)

The odds of that are so small to be honest but I put it to sleep to help minimise the possibility. Fortunately Mew's catch rate is 45 so it was an easy catch.

Hey relatively new fan here I really appreciate when you bring Pokémon to colloseum I’ve never seen any shiny hunter do that and I think it’s amazing to see both animations I wish I could see them more in action though

Awesome find Sonikks. If you don't mind me asking, what type of device did you use to get there? Was it a Gameshark or a different brand of device? I want to eventually hunt this myself so that it can have my trainer ID associated with it, but there is so much misinformation out there about transferring up a shiny Mew from generation 3 to generation 7 that I got frustrated and put it on hold haha. Relatively quick hunt too, so luck was on your side again it seems.
Thanks! I used something called an Action Replay Max. It took a while to get it working as it had been largely unused for a long, long time. Finding the warp code was annoying too and you need something called a Master code. A friend sent me it. I'd honestly advise getting an R4 card and importing your save in to an emulator as it's easier but I didn't have an R4 before I managed to set this up.
This was my first time actually even holding an AR, never mind using one. I've never used one before even casually. I just never saw the purpose of owning one until I got in to shiny hunting.

With a IV spread of 12/19/16/22/5/6, would be nice if you clone it and transfer to 7th gen and check out if it matches

This is an amazing shiny!! I find it interesting how you are on a streak of shinies with Gentle nature in Gen 3 lol (Suicune, Raikou, and now Mew)
I know right? It's crazy. I think something similar happened recently but across multiple gens. I got like three or four Lonely natures in a row. Crazy.
Lol it's actually how the game works, i'm surprised you shiny hunt without knowing how it works .-. In the gba games there's an internal "master" rng who changes every few frames, this dictate the nature and ivs of every encounter, this rng is fixed for the game and has a fixed pattern timed by the start of the game.
The shininess is dictated by a formula containing your trainer id and the the pokemon id, so basically if you clone an egg and hatch it in different games that pokemon has a chance to be shiny in one game and normal in the other.
Adding those two facts together if your trainer id is compatible with a shiny at frame 40 since game start you can time it and catch a bunch of different shiny pokes with the same ivs and nature.

I once got 2 shiny type: null in like 20 srs which was crazy as well. surreal when that happens.
I'd freak out if I got a shiny that fast. I did get a Type:Null after 175 SRs though. Must be our lucky Pokémon!
@@Sonikks Yeah well I hunted all the Silvally forms (19 type null) and also got one after 23k so there was pretty much everything happening from really bad to really good luck. but id say everything under 1k is awesome.

Congrats. I got the same one in 2007. Used a warp code to teleport to the island since in my country the franchise died down and couldn’t obtain events in real life. Took me roughly 3 hours and i SR on the top middle patch of grass. Regardless, a very specific shiny to be sure!
