I wish GW still did this for 40k, I play campaigns with people and its alright having to imagine a tyranid invasion of a hive world but itd be so much nicer to actually have a zoomed out map of the planet to better visualise victories and defeats
There's planetary empires. Came out years ago and has pretty open rules for stuff like this. You can 3d print the hexes like I've done. Or you can probably craft some with foam or something similar.
Reason for pieces not fitting perfectly is not the placement but the inherent dimension errors of 3d printing when making the pieces an error of 0.01mm x 3000 is a 30mm of error between the pieces. I ran in to a similar issue when making a middle-earth map on my wall from a gigantic PDF file by laser printing it with A4 sheets as I wasn't willing to pay up a 120$ for a canvas printing of that size.
@@miniwargaming i personally would like to see Adam doing terrain tutorials like you guys did years ago. You could pull all the people from the d&d terrain channels over here by showing how Adam does his airbrushing, building ect..I would even pay to see them, but you would get more views and subs if they were free. Maybe some free and some pay.
FANTASTIC IDEA!!!! @Airier you are now the one to thank for this. So… thank you for the idea. What say you? Shall we run with it? Would YOU like to see a 3D printed Hex map for Ravaged Star? Would you want it to be Asalia: the planet home to the chaotic veil?
ive been dreaming of creating a hexagonal map for my dnd homebrew world. been creating different tiles on blender but wasnt sure if i want to make a digital map where i could directly share it with the players and programm the controles with unity or if i want to 3d print it. well now i have 500+ more tiles i didnt creat that i can combine and so i saved up to 500h for sure by buying the stl bundel.
Great work ❤️🔥 I’m creating my own map of Lineage 2 with this tiles, they are fantastic. ~1000 tiles printed and half painted since June last year 😂 Full size files 💀
In the mid 90ties in when I was around 14 to 16 years old I bought 2 boxes of mighty empires and glued all the tiles to a board and then we did the same. When two armies met in battle we would battle it out fantasy battle 5th edition… I think. 🤔 Anyway cool but ended up being to big and time consuming for us. Since a turn took too long if you ended up having two armies and both ended in a battle. We were 4 or 6 boys who played back then. Those were the times.
impressive ! :) so now its done.. do you hang it up somewhere like a painting ? or are you going to use it for something specific ? campain map or something ?
Not the finished one, but we'll print one for you! miniwargamingforge.com/collections/hexton-hills-printed-maps/products/full-fantasy-map-compatible-with-the-old-world
Hopefully you dont mind a second comment! Now that the video is done, I absolutely love that finished product. I love maps, and this one looks incredible.
Home Alone was such a brilliant movie, I was also one of those people that did buy into MC Hammer until I learned that he was so homophobic as well as discovering that his music was terrible…
You guys are real bastards, now I need to buy hex tiles from you that I never knew I needed, lolol. Can you make the return address not say anything about minis so Mrs. Whatigottaroll doesn't know. lolol

I did something similar for a narrative game, Tyranid invasion, we played. Just grab an image and put a grid over the top.
why does GW have to do this for you? do it yourself or gather a team!
Just use this. Narrative: feudal planet.
It would be cool, but GW is catering 40K to one singular audience. I loved the old map and codex campaigns from 3rd/4th edition back in the day.
This commentary style video over the project was very nice, especially with the background history. Dave is a great narrator. Really awesome project !
Dave here, Thank you for this feedback. I enjoy making these videos and seeing fun projects come to life. It’s one of the best things about our hobby!

Looks like there's significant warping on the Z axis too; apparently a common problem with resin when you print too quickly.
This is an awesome documentary video. Love how you guys introduce yourselves with your Miniwargamer names.
Thank you! ❤ it’s been a wild ride! Year 17 making vids on the channel. Craziness man!
question is this map just for fun and joy or is there an old World narrative campaign series in the work?
Yes to both. :)
@@miniwargaming Excellent to both
@@miniwargaming🎉😁👍
Can't wait for the narrative campaign ... nerd Nirvana
Civ 6 - the board game.
i Love all the team infos - i am so happy to meet james for the first time. sounds like hes done alot of cool stuff
Looks great, just wish it was easier to put in Army flags or markers to show where the units are
That looks truly amazing. I want to make a smaller version of this for a 40k campaign! Thanks for sharing!!!
So the title is false. Matt did not make the map, a team of very skilled and talented people made the map. 👍
Do this for galaxy and planets in 40k bet you guys would sell alot
That's next!
I would love to meet Matt, he's got such a passion and dedication for the hobby
Adam from Green Leaf Terrain is the engine under the hood.
Thanks mate
I would love to see a WH40k map like this used in a crusade.
Makes me nostalgic for an era I never lived through.
Cat reading newspaper meme:
"I should buy a 3D printer"
Absolutely outrageous. I love it!
id love if we could buy the finished digital maps from you guys as well
HUZZAH! this makes me Happy. Thank you
I wish I had a business-scale printing setup like that...
the quality of this video production is quite impressive
Thank you! We shall make more!!! What more would you like to see?

Gotta love these guys for the amazing projects they make :)
Man i really hope we get a full campaign on this
On your tiles, how do I plant the Flag on the Hex & Hills tiles???
I'm almost afriad to ask. Is there a map like this for Ravagded Star?

DAMN that is amazing!!!! I'd love to put one of those on the frikkin wall in the game room!
Amazing video and brilliant insight to the project concept and delivery
My god, it's beautiful!
Thanks
I wish they had some hexes for Necromunda.
I'm very impressed
Matt got old! Love ya bro
It looks so good. I am excited for the campaign. =D
This looks amazing way to go and i cant wait to see this be used
should make one of the total war map, would be even bigger
I still want to see the Curse of Strahd map.
This is just...man...I gotta to lie down for a bit... it's overwhelming
Wow what a crazy big effort and it looks amazing
WELL DONE!!!
Respect. I'd love to see more painted detail on the cities. Also love to see actual campaign rules and a campaign played on this wonder.
When do we get some 40k Hex Tiles batreps?
Amazing work! You guys rock.
Consumer products designer here; Resin isn't a type of plastic. (Still great video, though! Amazing work!)
These videos are amazing, keep it up
Insane work!
Sick !!!!
I mean this is amazing right !? lol sorry just makes me very excited to see.

Some people have an amazing amount of dedication, energy, will and money to burn... I wish i had 20% of this levels
most of the white boards ive put on walls at work. have a layer of metal as the base for the board.........is it magnetic
YES!!!!! I love this !!!
how did you stick the tiles to the white board?
This is awesome
ISTR that they had 1 tile that came with a White Dwarf back then? I probably still have it stashed away in a box somewhere.
How much is shipping to Karaz a Karak umgi?
thought the ocean was on far right side of map where dark elder and land on other side of ocean was land away from main land.

what scales the map in ? like just asking how big 1 hex is , if anyone is interested in a math problem. not me certainly
Perfection 🤤
Thankk youuuu - already printing... :D
Love !
"Albert? You mean the same Albert who once delivered a bag of cheetos to that one guy, that one time, at that one place?"
😳😯😮😲😱😱😱😱
Do you deliver to Altdorf?
10:53 kinda looks like a distorted France.
Can we get the map for hexton hills app? Asking for a friend

We’ll be running old world campaigns on it. The first one will be starting soon.
@@miniwargaming look forward to see that :) ty for answering :)
Awesome
3:35 TIL Resin is in fact plastic... I had no idea o.o
Old World campaign videos released when?
Very soon. :)
The Chanel Zorpazorp did the same thing with a map of middle earth
Delicious!
Is this map for sale?
Not the finished one, but we'll print one for you!

Are you going to play a mighty empires campaign , it be a shame not to on such a mega map?
Yup, we're starting a new campaign soon.
Want this for 40k
So when bricklayers are doing say, a house. They work from the corners to the middle parts. Easier to hide the gaps that way. Just saying.

Amazing! Nj!
Jesus, that 2007 video. Nearly 2 decades ago. Started watching around 2009 when Tim the Fireman, Joe, and all were there. What a ride.
Cute. A Battletech campaign demands so much more. But still, so much less.
Will you build the same with 40K parts and create there 3d printable, 3d planetary maps?😈
Yes. :)
@@miniwargaming I love to hear that.🥰🥰
