Backstory to this car - This was my parents car. It had a bad water leak and it used to overheat so they took it to a garage and they replaced the header tank as the old one had cracked. It went through loads of water even after this I think, so the tank didn't help very much! The brakes needed doing & the radio screen was playing up (about 1/3rd in the middle of the screen is just blank) and then the engine started making an awful noise so they assumed the engine was knackered especially with the water leak and they didn't want to spend any more money on it after all these problems in a short amount of time. They have downsized anyway and don't use the car very much, & just wanted to get rid of it to be honest. Would recommend Rob and Chris for any salvage, messaged them and they came straight away the next day to collect. Thanks Rob & Chris! :)
Did wonder when i saw the new header tank had the system been over pressurising & caused it to split your parents didn't put a K seal or any other add in the system did they to try & stop the problem ? & its ended up masking it ,Think rob needs to put some serious miles on this before he even thinks of selling it else it could come back & bite him on the arse
I just cannot believe that someone wanted to scrap this car, what a lovely little motor!! Someone on a budget who needs a cheap but decent runaround will be well in there with this one.
Dont know how you keep coming up with these bargains Rob.. £100 easy £1600 all day long... Best channel on RUclips..No matter what video you guys put out always 10/10...Top Stuff
You saved a car destined for breakup. The most enviromentally sustainable thing to do, and its a perfect little run around for a family or new licensee. Love it when you save cars from the dump.
Boy, I’d buy a car from you guys in a heartbeat, wish I lived nearer. I recon there must be loads of cars scraped that can be kept on the road but then there aren’t many like you two. Just goes to show a few pound spent and another reliable cheap nice looking car for someone. Keep doing what you do, you should be proud of yourselves.
I knew this lovely little Fabia would pass its MOT, “simply clever”, another great video guys, well done, and thank you very much for saving this one!!❤️.
Respect that you are keeping the car alive and giving it some well needed TLC of oil, filter and other service items. You deserve to make some money on this car. Its def worth £2K ono
I can remember when we used a long screwdriver which one end was placed against a component with the other end against your ear to diagnose the location of the noise. Any long piece of metal would do but handle end of screwdriver softer against your ear. Fantastic video yet again boy's.
Nice one. If you're asking £1495, I'd replace the tyre that was an advisory too. Great content, thanks for keeping on delivering these videos week in week out, must take up a lot of your time.
From what I know, those header tanks/coolant resevoirs on these VW engines get replaced as the level sensor inside them tend to fail quite early on, and the entire tank needs to be replaced as the sensors are molded into the plastic.
Another great video, and £1495 all day long. A customer of mine years ago was a VW dealer. I turned up, and all the signage had changed to Skoda. 2 years later, 'Skodas are way, way, better built than VWs. People never bring them back any more'. If you work in a Czech car factory, you have a higher standing than Fritz in the German factory, was the theory...
What a lovely motor someone will get a bargain well done lads a lovely quick turn around and a lovely car saved from the scrap heap also Rob thanx for the air con explanation mines stopped working and now I know it’s 1 of 3 things 😉 x
Appears to be an excellent buy for somebody at £1495 - full years mot, serviced correctly and new front discs and pads! With a sorted air con they should have trouble free motoring for a good while. Cracking content - just goes to show what can be achieved by a couple of switched on, decent, honest guys!! I thoroughly enjoyed that.
I really enjoy these vids, giving an older car a new lease of life, be a good little run around for someone for not a lot of money, really worth spending the money on, hope you remembered to fix the water leak.
Just think how much good you have done for the environment by keeping that car going instead of it being scrapped needlessly and a new one having to be built.
Great little motor, nice to see reasonable parts prices for it. Gives people confidence to buy when they know it’s been properly serviced and repaired. The price you suggest sounds bang on! How many more cars are out there screaming to be saved. That motor is 12 years old, no rot and lots of life left in it 👍😎
Cracking video, delighted you didn't break it for spares. Lovely presentable car. Love the quick turn around videos. Hope the guy who sold it isn't watching, he will be sick as a parrot. 🤣👍👍
I love you guys! Straight in there to find the problem. I guessed belt and tensioner as it squealed the same as my 9-3 before the tensioner sheared off. Simple fix really. Great call doing the brakes and getting a spare wheel, service, etc. Love it. Looks ace and definitely saved from the scrappy!! Great price 😎
You guys have no idea how handy the UK MOT system is - here we have to book an NCT - you can be waiting weeks for a slot. If it fails, you can wait another few weeks for a re-test. It's a total pita here tbh.
What a bargain! A simple fix & a bit of maintenance goes a long way. Plus a quick spruce up makes it look far more presentable. Essentially a real good find in my opinion 👍
Couldn't agree more I never take a dirty motor for MOT ...my boss when I was an apprentice many years ago taught me that one ,it shows respect to the inspector. 😎
Love watching you guys putting these cars to rights again.. I like how you don’t miss out the smallest thing in making the car presentable and ready for the new owner, hats off to you as always 👍👍👍
Had one of these for 3 years - almost the exact same spec and colour except it was the 1.4 diesel. Amazing mileage, only ever minor issues with it for the most part. Ultimately, it developed an issue with the electrics in the driver side door and it caused the alarm to go off all the time. I probably could have sorted it but I wanted something with cruise control and android auto. I do miss it sometimes though, my Fabia estate was an absolute trooper for the entire time I owned it.
@@sruk 🤣 Wat about all the other jobs GRAFTER CHRIS done on his own? On his hands n knees vacuuming n scrubbing the car out. That's just a start...... Only messing Rob you both do a hard FANTASTIC job and in my opinion have you BOTH created the best auto channel ever created. You BOTH make a solid FANTASTIC TEAM...I've watched you from day one and it just keeps getting better n better. Your uploads get my excited every time you make one because you never know from one to the next what's coming up? LOVE YOUR CHANNEL LADS THANK YOU BOTH for all the hard work and dedication you BOTH put in creating a TOP CHANNEL..😉👍😉👍
Definitely worth doing. Second hand car market crazy at the moment. People are always looking for a cheap runaround and that skoda looks a great little car. £1495 is a bargain!
Excellent video rob I'm pleased you didn't scrap this car as it's a nice motor both you and Chris have found another little gem and no doubt it will make the next new owner very happy.
Looks like you saved a perfectly good little car from the scrapyard, such simple to fix faults, makes you wonder why the previous owners didn't get it done.
It’s great to see something being saved that can be saved rather than mindlessly scrapping a car that doesn’t need to be. Tidy car, estate, has the tow bar fitted, MOT, full service, valet, new brakes and a days labour for £500. Couldn’t beat it.
Brilliant as always. I’m sure young Chris checked the calliper carrier slider pins weren’t stuck as that normally accounts for uneven pad wear, although that’s very rude of me as the man is a genius 😁. Looking forward to the next instalment 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Another motor saved form that big graveyard in the sky by you and Chris it looks good and sounds ok when you finished it a tidy profit for use and another quality video for the channel 👍
Great to see the Skoda rides again. Too often these more budget brand cars get overlooked, so it's good to see a proper job being done on a run of the mill machine. Keep up the good work guy's 👍
What a FABIOUS video 😂 Looks like a superb daily runabout for a young Mum with a couple of kids and a dog. Price seems very good to me for what it's worth. Well done chaps. Cheers, Bob
Rob the A/C compressor pump seals can dry out if not used or sat for a while. Hopefully low on gas. Always run your A/C weekly even in the winter a good tip. Keeps the seals lubricated.
I know they chop and change. Manky oil is the enemy of chains. Ex took a BME (1.2 3 cyl 12V badged HTP) from 64 to 118k when something else took it. A fill of oil was 2.8 litres (5L of 10w40 Shell was about £14), filter was change from £3.
Great video guys 👍 see for me keeping an old car on the road like this is good, we live in a throwaway society and with the repairs you did that car is good for another few years as a run around. Definitely love to see more of this. Have a good week 👍
Ok , rob . Done it again , nice quick & clean little car .... But you do tickle me , when you say , right let's get on it !! & Chris does the work .. !! ...lol ....
Take that towbar mounting off.... If i'm looking at a car, I never buy one with a towbar as experience has taught me how hard towing anything is on a clutch. Apart from that.... Noice!
Brilliant result on the Fabia Estate Rob & Chris. At £1495 with all the service work etc done, that should sell in no time. As usual another cracking video. Thanks again for the upload. 👍👍
Chris is a better mechanic than a lot of them at main dealers. He cares about his work.
Chris wasn't changing the brakes on time lapse....
That's how quick he is
He's actually a mechanic, the guys at the stealership are just part swappers.

Looks like u went to a #### garage mate I even got that on my ear like Chris
That's a shame for them, looks like they had a garage that was happy to take their cash without really investigating the problem.
I think i can speak/text for most of your followers and say thanks for taking time posting these videos. We really do appreciate your expertise
I just cannot believe that someone wanted to scrap this car, what a lovely little motor!! Someone on a budget who needs a cheap but decent runaround will be well in there with this one.

And our Rhythm section tonight is Rob on the spinning water pump and Chris shaking the tensioner pulleys - the salvage rebuilds beat box!

more skoda projects please boys. i am on my 2nd fabia. wont buy anything else now, well done for saving it!
Enjoy the all in one vidios.had 3 previous model fabias.if you look after them run forever.Perfect runaround or first car.Welldone lads
Very well built. Not seen one end up like that Micra. So easy to work on. Service parts aren't "spiteful".
2:08 Wow, you guys don't mess about! You crammed *A LOT* into the video. Chris found the problem within the first 3 mins! The end result was worth it.
Respect that you are keeping the car alive and giving it some well needed TLC of oil, filter and other service items. You deserve to make some money on this car. Its def worth £2K ono

Love these type of videos, my goodness Chris doesn't hang about. He gets his head down and gets it done. Again lads brilliant video. 👍👍👍🇬🇧🏴
Nice to see more of Chris in the video. The guys a genius.
I reckon before Robs thought about doing something, Chris has already done it. You 2 are brilliant guys. See you Wednesday guys. 👍
lol true
Another great video from Rob and Chris! Love to see you bringing that motor back from the dead. Really enjoyed it thanks.

Great video start to finish! £1495 seems fair and will be a lovely sorted car for someone. What a waste it would have been to scrap
Cracking video, delighted you didn't break it for spares. Lovely presentable car.
Love the quick turn around videos. Hope the guy who sold it isn't watching, he will be sick as a parrot. 🤣👍👍
It's a nice clean car and far too good to scrap. Well done Rob and Chris for saving it from the scrapheap.
Lovely little motor for someone! Another brilliant job by you & Chris!
Chris is mad mechanic never gives up. Where does he find the energy. I need his skills.

Great to see Chris on camera and talking that bit more. Excellent turn around as usual, well worth the asking price too!
Nice to see you doing a old car and not scrapping it, make someone a good 1st car

Great car! Cheap and already useful for someone that need a good and economical car! Greetings from Milan, Italy.
had one of these myself until a few months ago, cracking little car
Think the price is bob on m8. Hate see good cars scrapped. Nice car with nice colour. I think did right with it ? Good job lads
It’s great to see something being saved that can be saved rather than mindlessly scrapping a car that doesn’t need to be. Tidy car, estate, has the tow bar fitted, MOT, full service, valet, new brakes and a days labour for £500. Couldn’t beat it.
Cracking motor that lads, well done!
Love the longer vids. And the quick turnaround ones are great too. Keep ‘em coming.
Came out great as always good job lads
Well worth it. Looks really smart and at that price will give someone a good few years cheap motoring. A great save.
£1,495 seems very very fair to me given the time, effort, quality and risk. Well done, great stuff. Thank you for sharing.
Really liked today's video, saved a car from scrap that didn't need to be scrapped and all in a day, brilliant!
Defo worth doing 👍🏻
My Fabia 1.9 is a fantastic machine. Glad to see that you have save this Fabia.
Cheers lads 🍻

Did the last owner take it to a mechanic, or did they simply assume it was all but dead? Nice car for someone, £1,495 is bang on.
haha "let's not get ahead of ourselves" Rob like and excited puppy and Chris super sensible.. top vid again btw.
Chris is like a machine…
He just can't get enough of the camera these days

Absolute bargain! well done once again.
We had a 2000 Fabia hatch for 10 years. It was a cracking motor. We loved it and that looks brilliant.
I like those early Fabias, I've been in a Y-reg :)
This era of Skoda are good honest cars. Does it have a cam chain, or is it a belt? I know that VW chopped and changed over the years.......
Chain bud 👍
I know they chop and change. Manky oil is the enemy of chains. Ex took a BME (1.2 3 cyl 12V badged HTP) from 64 to 118k when something else took it. A fill of oil was 2.8 litres (5L of 10w40 Shell was about £14), filter was change from £3.

Cracking little motor and a cracking job turning it around. Fair play on trying to sort the air con, many wouldn't bother
The "2" is the trim level but coincidentally it's also a 2nd generation Fabia :P
Great video as usual guys. You can't go wrong with that wee skoda, you've definitely won a watch with that. Easy £1500 any day of the week.

Great video Rob , The car come up very nice in the end and couldn't believe how quite it was once work done . 👍
