She was so orthodox and weird that she refused to look at Edward for all her life and remained dressed in black (She believed it was her poor charectered son Edward who caused the untimely death of her husband). Victoria was not the forgiving mature type her self, nor was she ready to give away anything to prepare Edward after her reign. One can imagine Edwards life long loneliness and torment - A father who passed away early, a mother who was alive but was never there for him when he needed. Talk about a head of state a mother who could not mend relations with her own kids! 🍷

An underrated film about a misunderstood woman. But in our time, the films with John Brown & Abdul Karim have helped us to understand, we are all in need of affection & personal friendship. Even the famous, rich & powerful. And no I'm not referring to Brittany. The British queens have all been as fascinating as they are individual. From Mary I, first queen regnant of England who gave us that delicious tomato concoction universally served at Sunday brunch to our current Elizabeth who has shown us every conceivable shade of pastel & who lives on to spite her oldest son, not a new scenario.

As long as the same story continues to be told and the differences in the cultures of this world are continually repeated in movies, they will continue to shrewdly and subtly perpetuate the idea that they apparently want to eliminate.

Great scene. Got one thing wrong though, Louis XIV was, and still is, the longest reigning monarch, being King of France for 72 years at the time of his death.

  • @Everydayfunguy

1:47 Queen Victoria was NOT the longest serving monarch in world history. She was the longest serving British monarch at that time. The longest serving monarch in European history is Louis XIV at 72 years.
