    Abdul Karim arrives from India to participate in Queen Victoria's golden jubilee. The young clerk is surprised to find favor with the queen herself. As Victoria questions the constrictions of her long-held position, the two forge an unlikely and devoted alliance that her household and inner circle try to destroy.     I could listen to Judi Dench all day. She's like an extremely elegant cat who throws the most exquisite tantrums. Her outbursts are like fresh garlic paste. I'll eat it, wince, and ask for more.
    Also I do miss the days when she played M at MI6.

    I'm so fascinated by this period in history, partly because of Victoria's apparent opposition to racial bigotry. Not something one would expect of one of the most iconic representations of British colonialism/imperialism.

    man, i sincerely have to say that i love and respect the british queens through the history, i dont have any problem to consider them my queens, i didn't know much of the history of the queen victoria, so if that movie realy show part of her true story, then i am straight love and respect her, and i consider her totaly my queen, and some how i am sad that i was not a part of her surroundings and her time,
    you are an angel on earth, at least in my eyes my Queen Victoria,

    Last year the queen came to india and in this dark room sitting on a chair in a corner she was speaking in hindi something like at your feet i offer flowers reverently when she said this i was reminded of bengal and may be tagore. Today when i heard the yss meditation lyrics i felt permission to say this. Love God Mam, Love God. He is so vast so great. Be with him always.       Its not only about brits loving Indians.... but its about that same old view that the Officials in her majesty 's service had regarding Indians during 1900s and late 20th century .     Not having qualifications because they 'do things differently over there' is another way of simply saying that India's people had a terrible education system. It's not 'doing things differently' - it's poverty and a populace who didn't have a culture that prioritised shcooling.
