- How I bought a double decker bus and converted it in five years time into an RV. See how I did all that in 20 steps. I got a lot of questions about the bus, so I made a FAQ on my website. Read it here: sites.google.com/site/bigbusz...
We did a full interior tour of the bus, that video is here: • Double decker RV - ful...
If you want to know the cost of the whole project, that is in this video: • Double Decker RV - Sea...
More photos of the bus are to be found in this Google Photos folder:

That was THE most professionally fitted bus I've ever seen that wasn't done in a factory. Amazing attention to details. Awesome.
He is a legend! hands-down!!
Most factory buses aren't as good as you think
Where do you park this bitch?
After working in the RV industry in Canada for over 16 years as a mechanic and service manager I have to say that the work you did is fantastic. Comparable with any of the Phaeton or Monaco busses I saw or worked on. WELL DONE!!
Buses. not busses
This video is 4 years old and this living legend right here is still hearting comments to this day
This is one of the coolest double decker bus conversations, awesome job making blueprints and having it turn out exactly how you wanted it
The old sketch when you dubbed "when my wife finds out how much that engine was" I got a good chuckle. The truth behind that one is very real.
William Crook Me too. Hubby asked what I was laughing at and I showed him and he got a good chuckle too
I love that you kept seats in front on the top deck, bet the kids love that.
You are so right. These seats are the reason why I always am left alone, downstairs, steering.
me too,
awww lol poor thing! have you seen that one RV that can be steered from the deck upstairs??? i can find a link if no
thought the same myself!
@@NomadicGearhead Jeremy Clarkson in The Grand Tour, no?
If you do it his way, you might need some "help" to stop the bus, haha...
This. This is how these kind of videos should be made. Caption screens, music that times with the content. Informative, brief and to the point. Bravo. I love the idea and the project. I would love this same thing in my life, with office space where the kids bunks were.
Wauw, ik heb je filmpjes nu meermaals bekeken en heb 1000 ideeën! Thnx man! Echt respect voor wat jij/jullie gecreëerd hebben.💪👍
This thing is insane! Love it. Someone should manufacture and sell these.
They kinda do, there are all kinds of awesome Moterhomes and RVs available. But it's true, I can't really think of any actual double decker RVs that are mass produced.
👍
That's probably why he bought it, is to restore and resell
Can be yours for like 178k Euros
Only a handful of people around the world are willing to pay insane money to own these mammoth double-decker RVs. And when they do, they will buy brand new vehicles rather than spending $$$ on second or third hands.
I never would have thought that this video would be good for a million views in under a week time!! Thank you so much, and in particular for all the kind words! In the replies to all of your questions I was so often repeating myself, that I made a FAQ in English. You can find it on my website here: sites.google.com/site/bigbuszz/faq---english
Check out the FAQ if the answer on the question you might have is in there too. Some of the questions:
- How much was the bus? And how much money did you put in?
- What on earth gave you the idea to buy a bus?
- How heavy is the bus now? How much weight did you add to it? Did you have to watch out for adding too much weight?
- What's the fuel consumption?
- You told you had an expert check the bus before you bought it. Didn't he say anything about the engine? Then how got it broken?
- Why a double decker in the first place?
- Who are you? Are you some kind of architect? How did you get the knowledge and experience to be able to build this?
- What are your plans with it? Will you sell?
Onrust! Wow this is the best BUS-RV remodel I've ever seen!!! How old are your kids and how much was the engine? Great job!
And you only make 20,00€ a year which is equivalent to 21,227 US dollars? That is below the poverty line?
My boys are 14 and 15 yo. Thanks!
My point was that even with a modest income, you can save some money, with which you can fulfill your dreams.
Onrust! looks so awesome i want to have it
Great project. I thought about doing similar one day, but you have done it! Great design and attention to details. Probably one of the best motor homes in the world!
The Laurel and Hardy were funny as heck to me. I burst out laughing. You got me on those.
I'm lost for words, you did an absolutely amazing job on this.
I don't know why this was in my recommandations, but I'm glad it was. Very nice job btw

I want to thank all of you for the lovely reactions! I'm very glad many people like what I did. Actually, I'm a bit overwhelmed by the attention; the video was viewed over 100.000 times in one single day, and I have been busy constantly, only answering all of your questions.
The most asked question is 'how much did it cost?' This is a very difficult question, which I might once answer in a next video, but I will not answer directly. Sorry about that, I can imagine you would like to know. Just to give an idea: it was more than 50.000 euro, and less than 150.000 - of course apart from the hours I put in to it. Yes, that's a wide range, but for now you have to do with that, I hope you understand...
You all have a nice day, I wish you the best!
Onrust! I really like this. The only thing I might have done differently. I probably would have used the the lower deck for sleeping and the upper as living and viwing.
So simply, how much did you pay for just the original coach? -Before the fun$ began?
Googlesux Bigtime for emergency purposes? or just the view?
Onrust! Hoeveel kosten het in totaal?
specialsmithchick For the view while travaling, and while just siting around, where there might be a great view.
Security or safty wise, I don't think it makes a difference.
Love the way you broke down each section...makes it much less confusing and complicated. Bravo...it quite nice.

Turned out really well though, well done!
5 years... Take a look at the description! :)
When you did the tables as doors I kept watching.... I'm impress. Thanks for sharing this fun video
Nice work! I remodeled the interior of a 28 foot, 1970 Silver Streak travel trailer while I was living in it! I used FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) on the curved parts. It has two finishes, one was smooth and shiny, the other had a pebble texture and was shiny. I went with the pebble texture, it looked great! One nice feature that I installed that you don't see in RV's is "touch" lighting. I was going to have problems routing wires for the wall mounted lighting to the switches on the opposite side, beside the door, so I used touch lamps. I liked them so much I installed more in the rest of the RV later. Keep up the good work!
Apology upfront for some viewers. Within minutes I received a warning from a US forum after I tried to post this video there: 'Community Rules Violation - warning Ron, Your video contains the abbreviation "WTF". This is not allowed by the rules of iRV2'
So let all of you who may be offended be warned: there are the three letters WTF in this video!
Onrust! WTF,are you serius?
Yes. A moderator of the forum IRV2.com is holding back this video from the members, because of the letters 'WTF' in it.

Title should be how to make a double decker bus into the best tiny house ever in just 20 steps
WOW WOW WOW I’m shocked at this
TINY? Lol! Looks pretty large to me!
Note; they are big steps, so caution should be used in taking to mind you are just 20 steps from this result. Starting with just removing all those seats that did not walk themselves out of the bus. And that's just warming up.
Holy shit this is the most gorgeous streamline modern bus/ home I love all the details I love the ambience lighting in the ceiling I love all the detailing and trim! Gorgeous!!!!!!
the best setup ive seen yet, the bedroom and bathroom setup is amazing

Onrust! I dunno, I agree with 3G Mom
Onrust! he's not exaggerating. amazing
Absolutely genius, spending 150k on an rv, and getting to do all the labour. There are suckers who pay that much for rigs that just work and come with warranties. There are some other geniuses on here you would probably enjoy researching, check out the flat earth guys, or anything from Alex Jones.
John Smithington as good as this is. you can get really good rv's for 150k far better than this
I love these builds, it means people have a real chance of affordable housing, the only downside is the lack of an address, but as a camping or holiday vehicle, excellent
😂 you're probably looking at €100k+ for a thing like that, not even mentioning the cost of gas, some kind of house would be cheaper
@@alainportant6412 have you seen the cost of houses these days. $100 k is affordable housing in today's market.
That's the whole idea!! Off the grid with no address, total freedom!!

Amazing, beautiful and inspiring!

Your bus converversion is so amazing and so far the best that I have ever seen. The Laurel and Hardy parts brought tears of laughter LOL using them to take part is also just amazingly entertaining. I am 71 years old and I used to watch them whenever our TV worked. Just my opinion sure the new engine was expensive but to think you have a brand new power plant that is much more reliable - efficient and probably more powerful to me would be worth it. But of course I didn't have to pay for it. The outsourcing you did on the few things made perfectly good sense to me of course again I didn't have to pay for it. I could see myself purchasing a RV like yours if they were built here in the U.S. I don't lack the monies to purchase one, I just have not found one that is totally unique so different like the one you built. Most anyone that can afford a bus here in the states have a limited one to chose from and I want something unique like yours.
Thank You so much for sharing you are one very gifted person. Your skills are second to no one else's I have seen. I own a boat building company and I know talent when I see it and I just have in your video. Cheers
Installing a new power plant into old rusty whatever-you-got never makes sense.

very very nice job, congratulations. on having the time money and skill!!!
My wife says that you forgot to mention 'having the wife'. ;-) Thanks!
Onrust! No, he didn't, having a wife makes part of the item "skill"!
oh yes couldn't have done it without her fro sure!

I like the middle spiral stair case, nice job on the remodel.
Outstanding job.
I have a sneaky suspicion. the previous owner knew the engine was on the way out. But despite having found this after so much conversion, your finished project is well impressive. It's the sort of tour bus musicians might use. I have really good childhood memories, travelling through western Europe in Grandad's Ford Motorhome. Well done Onrust!
Dude I'm literally jealous of you right now. I've always thought of doing this. Now you've brought back my passion.
I love all the black and white clips you used. Very well edited.
This is fantastic. This looks better than most RV’s that sell for the price of a house. I’d love to do this myself when the kids are a little older.
mechanic: engine has just a little small problem.
some time later: we need a new engine
"Yeah no biggie"
*Literal black smoke coming from somewhere.*
Lucky bastard 😄
I always dreamed of having such a bus, since i watched The Osbournes on MTV as a teen in the early 2000s.
I even filled a whole sketchbook with layout concepts and ideas. Congrats for this great work!
The music and production reminds me of TV shows from the 1990s when I was a child. The bus looks amazing!
That is an absolute credit to you !!! Beautiful
After finishing this beautiful masterpiece, do you even use your house anymore? It just looks amazing, I'm impressed!
For everyone curious how much the project cost me, in a later video (the one about the 2019 season with the bus) I added all the costs up. Watch it here: ruclips.net/video/7djK1DJprD8/видео.html .
Onrust! Amazing... I want one of these in Aussie 🇦🇺👌👌👌 well done
I have something funny for you to watch: we played hide and seek at Walmart by the pun guys
Thank you I was SO curious how much it cost!
So the entire project was €80,400 (or about $90,500 USD) inclusive of the bus itself - that's not too bad! It was very terrible to see that the engine repair was €20,000 (or about $22,512 USD) - that was most unfortunate. But what became of the mechanic who initially inspected the bus? It seems reasonable for a mechanic miss a few things, but how did they not realize that the engine was about to entirely die? Surely an engine on the brink of death should be showing some pretty conclusive signs of that? What's more is that it doesn't look like you drove it very far and so I can't imagine that you caused this sudden failure. I'm wondering if you spoke with the mechanic about this after the engine broke down and what they had to say about it.
@Kevin Ludlow - Some problems you cannot predict years ahead. The test was in 2011, the engine broke down in 2015. More on this in the FAQ at: sites.google.com/site/bigbuszz/faq---english
That is so awesome! Perfect 👍 & look at all that room ! That’s the way to travel 🧳!
Amazing - beautiful job. Just beautiful.
Such a cool buildout! I like how you left the two seat at the top front of the bus for the coolest view ever!!
I am mightily impressed. For those giving thumbs down? Well your petty jealousy says it all. Very practical for Holland and many European countries but you would struggle around the wilder places such as the Scottish Highlands. If found it hard in places with an average coachbuilt motorhome but that doesn't stop me admiring your achievement. Well done.
Getting it to the UK in the first place would be the tricky part, you would never fit that on a Eurostar carriage, and I reckon a ferry would charge you through the nose.
Rob Fraser ferry probably wouldn't charge you alot at all, my family once went to sweden on a ferry from Köln, Germany and our car got designated to the bus/truck level. We had a storage thing on the roof of our car (don't know how you call it in English) which made it higher than other cars. We did pay the normal price in spite of the designation of our car.
Rob Fraser and the carriages from france to the uk can also hold busses, I had a school trip to the UK in a bus, though it was only a single level bus. Coming off the train I do reckon I saw some double deckers there as well so I guess they fit too.
Omg, fabulous, and I loved the video not just the rv.
Absolutely amazing. Humbled by your vision and skills.
Excellent, the talent and vision is second to none. You do have a very understanding wife.....best of travels.

Luxury feel and finish but at huge cost l imagine, largely because of the new engine although that was obviously unforseen. I'm impressed you saw it through to completion though, many wouldn't have. You did some fantastic workmanship!!!
I hope you enjoy it and get back every penny you put in by making treasured family memories that last a lifetime. ❤️
