After working in the RV industry in Canada for over 16 years as a mechanic and service manager I have to say that the work you did is fantastic. Comparable with any of the Phaeton or Monaco busses I saw or worked on. WELL DONE!!
Absolutely genius, spending 150k on an rv, and getting to do all the labour. There are suckers who pay that much for rigs that just work and come with warranties. There are some other geniuses on here you would probably enjoy researching, check out the flat earth guys, or anything from Alex Jones.
This. This is how these kind of videos should be made. Caption screens, music that times with the content. Informative, brief and to the point. Bravo. I love the idea and the project. I would love this same thing in my life, with office space where the kids bunks were.
They kinda do, there are all kinds of awesome Moterhomes and RVs available. But it's true, I can't really think of any actual double decker RVs that are mass produced.
Only a handful of people around the world are willing to pay insane money to own these mammoth double-decker RVs. And when they do, they will buy brand new vehicles rather than spending $$$ on second or third hands.
I am mightily impressed. For those giving thumbs down? Well your petty jealousy says it all. Very practical for Holland and many European countries but you would struggle around the wilder places such as the Scottish Highlands. If found it hard in places with an average coachbuilt motorhome but that doesn't stop me admiring your achievement. Well done.
Getting it to the UK in the first place would be the tricky part, you would never fit that on a Eurostar carriage, and I reckon a ferry would charge you through the nose.
Rob Fraser ferry probably wouldn't charge you alot at all, my family once went to sweden on a ferry from Köln, Germany and our car got designated to the bus/truck level. We had a storage thing on the roof of our car (don't know how you call it in English) which made it higher than other cars. We did pay the normal price in spite of the designation of our car.
Rob Fraser and the carriages from france to the uk can also hold busses, I had a school trip to the UK in a bus, though it was only a single level bus. Coming off the train I do reckon I saw some double deckers there as well so I guess they fit too.
I want to thank all of you for the lovely reactions! I'm very glad many people like what I did. Actually, I'm a bit overwhelmed by the attention; the video was viewed over 100.000 times in one single day, and I have been busy constantly, only answering all of your questions. The most asked question is 'how much did it cost?' This is a very difficult question, which I might once answer in a next video, but I will not answer directly. Sorry about that, I can imagine you would like to know. Just to give an idea: it was more than 50.000 euro, and less than 150.000 - of course apart from the hours I put in to it. Yes, that's a wide range, but for now you have to do with that, I hope you understand... You all have a nice day, I wish you the best!
Onrust! I really like this. The only thing I might have done differently. I probably would have used the the lower deck for sleeping and the upper as living and viwing.
specialsmithchick For the view while travaling, and while just siting around, where there might be a great view. Security or safty wise, I don't think it makes a difference.
Googlesux Bigtime That's an excellent point about the view. I didn't even think about it from the traveling aspect. ... not that I could ever begin to think about all of the things and behind the scenes that went into this project!
Apology upfront for some viewers. Within minutes I received a warning from a US forum after I tried to post this video there: 'Community Rules Violation - warning Ron, Your video contains the abbreviation "WTF". This is not allowed by the rules of iRV2' So let all of you who may be offended be warned: there are the three letters WTF in this video!
I never would have thought that this video would be good for a million views in under a week time!! Thank you so much, and in particular for all the kind words! In the replies to all of your questions I was so often repeating myself, that I made a FAQ in English. You can find it on my website here: sites.google.com/site/bigbuszz/faq---english Check out the FAQ if the answer on the question you might have is in there too. Some of the questions: - How much was the bus? And how much money did you put in? - What on earth gave you the idea to buy a bus? - How heavy is the bus now? How much weight did you add to it? Did you have to watch out for adding too much weight? - What's the fuel consumption? - You told you had an expert check the bus before you bought it. Didn't he say anything about the engine? Then how got it broken? - Why a double decker in the first place? - Who are you? Are you some kind of architect? How did you get the knowledge and experience to be able to build this? - What are your plans with it? Will you sell?
Your bus converversion is so amazing and so far the best that I have ever seen. The Laurel and Hardy parts brought tears of laughter LOL using them to take part is also just amazingly entertaining. I am 71 years old and I used to watch them whenever our TV worked. Just my opinion sure the new engine was expensive but to think you have a brand new power plant that is much more reliable - efficient and probably more powerful to me would be worth it. But of course I didn't have to pay for it. The outsourcing you did on the few things made perfectly good sense to me of course again I didn't have to pay for it. I could see myself purchasing a RV like yours if they were built here in the U.S. I don't lack the monies to purchase one, I just have not found one that is totally unique so different like the one you built. Wow that’s a beautiful rv, my dream rv for sure. I can imagine sitting on my comfortable couch on the second floor looking out the window booking it down the highway while my wife is driving. Great job, I bet you enjoyed building everything, I’m sure your wife is happy now, that thing is amazing. I would live on it if I had it. Love the video as well. I’m so jealous.

It's the sort of tour bus musicians might use. I have really good childhood memories, travelling through western Europe in Grandad's Ford Motorhome. Well done Onrust!
What a brilliant job on your new home away from home! Also, I came just to see the conversion but I must say the actual video was an unexpected pleasure! It was clear, precise and so very unusually interesting. Most vids on youtube are the same but this one really held my attention. Loved the comedy on the cost of the new engine.

Because It is pretty ugly. That carpet with any wood floors, absence of colour, the ac oh my god is ugly af and no efficient at all, the kitchen is so so tiny and cluttered having that huge bus. Lack of design skills.
Absolutely outstanding, sir, your attention to detail is beyond reproach and the end result is testament to that fact! By the way, the Laurel & Hardy clips are sublime... But, 3K dislikes, WTF? I guess some folks just don't have a clue...
There are large, bus based RVs for sale by famous manufacturers in North Americ for mid six figures that aren't anywhere nearly as nicely finished as this is. Great job!
Impressive work. I love these bus projects people under take. I don't have the balls to even try. Plus, inevitably, what ever bus I buy, the engine will blow and my wife will kill me! I hope you get many years of enjoyment out of her and many more great memories with your kids!
Thanks! To be honest - I upfront asked, and got, permission of her. During 5 years I was in the bus quite a lot - away from home. Now she enjoys the end result even more than I do!
I watched your You Tube Video and just loved it and saved it too!!!! You did a great job in building your, DOUBLE DECKER RV !!!! This had been my dream for years but a major heart attack put the brakes on my dream !!!!! You did a great job on your double decker and you can be very proud of it, ole Fletch in Jax., Fl.
Haha... no not even my wife.. someone who asked me about the bus at the truckwash... That was funny; this couple was curious about the inside, so I invited them in. But as they had to take their shoes off, only she came in. Women are so more curious / nosy than men... :-) At the end she suggested asking 5 euros for the tour I just gave her...
Lucky bastard 😄 I always dreamed of having such a bus, since i watched The Osbournes on MTV as a teen in the early 2000s. I even filled a whole sketchbook with layout concepts and ideas. Congrats for this great work!
Serdecznie pozdrawiam z Katowic ♥️
Craziest thing ever. I can't even imagine it took you 5 years to complete the bus doing it all by yourself. I love the bedroom. Or the place top front on 1st floor. Great job, the whole interior looks so nice.
Luxury feel and finish but at huge cost l imagine, largely because of the new engine although that was obviously unforseen. I'm impressed you saw it through to completion though, many wouldn't have. You did some fantastic workmanship!!! I hope you enjoy it and get back every penny you put in by making treasured family memories that last a lifetime. ❤️
Nexus5150 don’t like the a380 it’s too big any other airbus or Boeing will do me good for airlines but for cargo you’d wanna go for the MD11-MD11F but I do like the 747-400-747-8 the younger 747s I don’t like the cockpits
Holy shit this is the most gorgeous streamline modern bus/ home I love all the details I love the ambience lighting in the ceiling I love all the detailing and trim! Gorgeous!!!!!!
I love these builds, it means people have a real chance of affordable housing, the only downside is the lack of an address, but as a camping or holiday vehicle, excellent
As a diesel tech, namely a Detroit Diesel diesel tech, I get to work on a lot of coaches and RV's and have dreamed of this very same project. Ya'll did a great job!
That was pretty darn interesting and the end result is quite fantastic. I think the saving grace is your ability to do most of the work yourself. I shudder to think the cost of outsourcing the whole project. But my question is, with a vehicle of that size, are there limitations to where you can go and actually camp? Loved the Laurel and Hardy clips too.
Great project. I thought about doing similar one day, but you have done it! Great design and attention to details. Probably one of the best motor homes in the world!
Awesome job! This might be the best double decker conversion I've seen thus far. I wanted to convert one about 7 years ago but the most affordable Neoplan I found at the time was an '89 with the storage bottom floor (couldn't stand up straight without hitting my head) for $10k . All other Neoplans I found online where $70k - $500k and that's when the dream died. Now I'm thinking about converting a small (under 22ft long) shuttle bus instead. I would love to see another slow detailed walk through video of your masterpiece with you actually walking and talking it. I'd also like more details on the two door magnetic switch and any other DIY contraptions you came up with. Where's the other half of the ac units located btw?
The use of the magnets is something I explain in my FAQ at sites.google.com/site/bigbuszz/faq---english The AC units are in the 'utility room' where the watertank is - the last 5 meters of the downstairs floor. They are only used when parked and the door has to be open. No, not quite ideal...
Wow!! This is WAY better than a $1.25 million RV by Mercedez-Benz that I saw a RUclips video of !! Ultrasonic sensor in water tanks!!! This is what I call luxury!! This one, I would gladly pay more than $1.25 million to buy, if I had the money. :) Everything is so thoughtfully designed, so convenient and practical, and with a design that's sleek, clean and elegant.
After working in the RV industry in Canada for over 16 years as a mechanic and service manager I have to say that the work you did is fantastic. Comparable with any of the Phaeton or Monaco busses I saw or worked on. WELL DONE!!
Buses. not busses
That was THE most professionally fitted bus I've ever seen that wasn't done in a factory. Amazing attention to details. Awesome.
He is a legend! hands-down!!
Most factory buses aren't as good as you think
Where do you park this bitch?
I love that you kept seats in front on the top deck, bet the kids love that.
You are so right. These seats are the reason why I always am left alone, downstairs, steering.

The only thing better than your bus is the sound track in this video. Both are exquisite. Congratz on a job well done.

DePvdM helemaal mee eens!
Onrust! What language is that

Cool. I won't ask what was your final cost for everything, but don't crash your bus/RV after all that.
roachtoasties if you say mashalla when he tells you, everything will be fine

Wow!! So luxurious, you must have spent a fortune!!

How can so many give it a thumbs down? It’s brilliant!
Nah, I got tired of reading, half way through. I was bored, time to move on to the comments.
Jealous
Because It is pretty ugly. That carpet with any wood floors, absence of colour, the ac oh my god is ugly af and no efficient at all, the kitchen is so so tiny and cluttered having that huge bus. Lack of design skills.
Jealousy I would imagine hun.x

Absolutely outstanding, sir, your attention to detail is beyond reproach and the end result is testament to that fact! By the way, the Laurel & Hardy clips are sublime... But, 3K dislikes, WTF? I guess some folks just don't have a clue...
10/10 project.
do you have tour plans already?
Thank you Larisa! Peace for everybody..!
Simply amazing design. And to be honest it's not a waste of money people spend 200k 300k on RV buses that don't even compare.
After finishing this beautiful masterpiece, do you even use your house anymore? It just looks amazing, I'm impressed!
There are large, bus based RVs for sale by famous manufacturers in North Americ for mid six figures that aren't anywhere nearly as nicely finished as this is. Great job!
I’m not at the end yet but I’m guessing this costs at least that much
Amazing design talent and workmanship. Tremendous ingenuity. Hats off. Love the Laurel & Hardy inserts!
Onrust! thats great, life is always better with an understanding wife!
very very nice job, congratulations. on having the time money and skill!!!
My wife says that you forgot to mention 'having the wife'. ;-) Thanks!
Onrust! No, he didn't, having a wife makes part of the item "skill"!
oh yes couldn't have done it without her fro sure!
lui suzuki vro Okay, wisdom teaches that both are better, money and skill (wife included).
This is fantastic. This looks better than most RV’s that sell for the price of a house. I’d love to do this myself when the kids are a little older.
FIVE years man, that must've been a lot of work and misery! Congrats for your work and endurance!
That is some of the most impressive work I've ever witnessed and I know you and your wife are enjoying your investment!! Great video 💯
Such a cool buildout! I like how you left the two seat at the top front of the bus for the coolest view ever!!
The highest respect for your amazing skills. The world needs more men like you!
Fantastic workmanship. Take your creation on tour and charge admission to view it. I would certainly pay to see it up close
Thank you! Someone IN MY BUS made the same suggestion. As I then held my hand out to collect, she was gone... ;-)
Haha... no not even my wife.. someone who asked me about the bus at the truckwash... That was funny; this couple was curious about the inside, so I invited them in. But as they had to take their shoes off, only she came in. Women are so more curious / nosy than men... :-) At the end she suggested asking 5 euros for the tour I just gave her...
Lucky bastard 😄
I always dreamed of having such a bus, since i watched The Osbournes on MTV as a teen in the early 2000s.
He didn't do the kitchen or the stairs himself.
I've drove many double deck buses. This one would be a joy to travel the USA and Canada in.
It is so awesome 😳
When you did the tables as doors I kept watching.... I'm impress. Thanks for sharing this fun video
Absolutely phantastic! Yes, that is what I want as a motorhome.
That is absolutely amazing, fantastic, super-dee-dooper! Well done, good on you
It almost look like a private jet ✈️
Silly Sausage It's like the Airbus A380 of private of private jets
Hmmm.. ur right small sausage 😎
Nexus5150 don’t like the a380 it’s too big any other airbus or Boeing will do me good for airlines but for cargo you’d wanna go for the MD11-MD11F but I do like the 747-400-747-8 the younger 747s I don’t like the cockpits
ertren6 or what are you gonna do something? Shut the fuck up😂
ertren6 I’m bisexual so I couldn’t care less I bet you’re no older then 12
The music and production reminds me of TV shows from the 1990s when I was a child. The bus looks amazing!
I offer you a LAUREL and HARDY handshake for all the work you put in.
Holy shit this is the most gorgeous streamline modern bus/ home I love all the details I love the ambience lighting in the ceiling I love all the detailing and trim! Gorgeous!!!!!!
this video is surprisingly funny with all the laurel and hardy clips hahaha
the best setup ive seen yet, the bedroom and bathroom setup is amazing
Dude that was focken amazing!
I love these builds, it means people have a real chance of affordable housing, the only downside is the lack of an address, but as a camping or holiday vehicle, excellent
😂 you're probably looking at €100k+ for a thing like that, not even mentioning the cost of gas, some kind of house would be cheaper
@@alainportant6412 have you seen the cost of houses these days. $100 k is affordable housing in today's market.
That's the whole idea!! Off the grid with no address, total freedom!!
You could get a p.o.box or have mail sent to mail place like FedEx for a monthly fee to have yiur mail sent amd stored there. Something like that
I don't know why it was on my recommended videos list but I watched the whole thing and enjoyed it ! Great job, very impressive !
As a diesel tech, namely a Detroit Diesel diesel tech, I get to work on a lot of coaches and RV's and have dreamed of this very same project. Ya'll did a great job!
Fantastic job .You are certified crazy.
I am, I am..
I'll take that as a compliment - thanks!
A compliment it was meant .Good day and good luck sir.
Onrust! this is the first video i watched and your crazy but EPIC
Joe Mulgrew this is a dream it has since I was 7 and now I'm 11
That was pretty darn interesting and the end result is quite fantastic. I think the saving grace is your ability to do most of the work yourself. I shudder to think the cost of outsourcing the whole project. But my question is, with a vehicle of that size, are there limitations to where you can go and actually camp? Loved the Laurel and Hardy clips too.
I just made the auto blinds myself.....no big deal.... It's nice to be mechanically inclined:) Gorgeous rig!
Great project. I thought about doing similar one day, but you have done it! Great design and attention to details. Probably one of the best motor homes in the world!
This is nicer than my house and looks more comfortable..Nice job.
i have always wanted to do this myself - its on my TODO list!
That has to be the coolest thing I have ever seen. What a fantastic job!
