This is not a bus its a house on wheels. Watched all your videos huge respect for your achievements. Thanks for posting and good luck for the family and the future.
This is so cool. Everything is just slightly different from how it is in the USA but the adventure is totally the same! I drive a 44ft RV all over the country here in the USA. I just love it so much. A double decker sounds like a dream!!!
This is just simply SO cool! I rode a skyliner here in the UK at a bus enthusiast event not too long ago, and to be honest, I 100% see why people love them. You did such a fantastic job in the build, and honestly, in general, it’s such a cool concept, just to pack, and roll to wherever you want, with not one, but two levels of comfort and space. Keep up the great work, and hello from the UK!
Love your double decker excellent craftsmanship I have watched all your videos. I would love you to do a video on talking about how you approved doing the wiring and plumbing, for example where you have hidden the pipes and cables, are they easy to access for repairs, are your electric wires buried behind the walls, would you link your grey tank to your black tank with a valve so once you empty black tank you can flush it through with black tank, how much water and battery usage do you do on average, would you have done anything differently in terms of plumbing and wiring (excluding the compostable toilet). Another video idea is height limits and bridges, how do you plan for these, would it be possible to put solar panels on top without exceeding height limit, or would only thin flexible solar panels be suitable, also a video talking about your thoughts on insulation in the van and any air conditioning or roof access ideas e.g. top floor above bed and front chairs for cross breeze of air. I definitely would love you to make a video on all of these questions as your bus has inspired me to build my own in the future.
Thank you for this comment. For me it is difficult to think what I could do next, so I value these kind of input highly - thanks again. Plumbing and wiring might be an interesting topic, although difficult to show... Planning around the height limit is quite easy; stay on the main roads. Last weekend we were in Germany and Google Maps wanted to direct me off the main road onto smaller ones - that would be a shorter route. Well, I just don't follow that suggestions. I made a plan and stick to it. I indeed could show this on a map once, in a video. You can do those smaller roads, but you would have to be on the lookout for the signs; mostly height and weight limits.. Yes, solar panels would fit between the hatches. There is no need for flexible panels, I hear about people having trouble with those, because they are not that sturdy as the conventional ones. Insulation is a controversial topic, because an object made out of steel (vehicle, but can be container too) is very difficult to insulate. I will think about your suggestions. Next on the list is a video about last weekend.
@@Onrust1 I am glad you are considering my suggestions I look forward to videos on these topics Ron, I rewatched all of your videos multiple times to be sure you hadn't already answered them before asking. Yes plumbing and wiring would be interesting even if difficult to show as you can just show thought process and pictures, no need to disassemble or rip everything out. I am keen to understand since you have your bathroom upper floor, e.g. pumps, macerating toilet etc .., how you planned for preventing smells, and access in case of blockage for repairs etc did you route these along your bedroom and then down to the garage area etc … My concern about solar is the thickness of normal panels may exceed the height limit if one wanted to cover the roof of the 4m tall bus compared to the thin profile panels ( I agree they are worse) as I understand 4m is the height limit for vehicles due to it being a common bridge height I believe ? I am from UK where there is not a height restriction but I learned this from my research if I wanted to buy a European double decker to convert in the future. I had an idea for planning around the height restrictions with less planning, navigation companies like TomTom and Garmin etc… now recently have mobile / tablet based app subscription (low cost) for Heavy goods truck vehicles where you can input height and length and weight of vehicle so this may help with reducing planning and more exploring? With insulation topic you could also talk more about your Air conditioning units, pros and cons in terms of performances, energy usage, layout location etc.., and exploring newer efficient technologies like heat pump which can cool as well as heat for year round travel.
You are very right about the 4 meters. With a vehicle over 4 meters you are very limited in possibilities (I wrote more about that in my FAQ, all at the bottom - have you already found that?). But the hatches stick out the roof a bit, so in between should be enough room for normal solar panels. I know about the Garmin/TomTom solutions for large vehicles, but up until now felt no need for them. Maybe in the future, I don't rule it out. But in the end best is to rely on yourself, because only one can be held responsible (you.. 😏). My AC's already can work as heating device. That was the main reason for me to put it up as one of the first devices, in the beginning of the build; so I could work in winter without getting cold.
That's. Really. Awesome work. You did. I'm sure you put a lot of efforts and planning. I enjoyed watching the video. Enjoy it. And I wish you the best of luck. Enjoy life to the fullest. All the best to you.

@@Onrust1 That I didn't know, thanks for the knowledge drop my friend. It's an awesome RV by the way, you must be very proud of what you managed to achieve 🤘🏻
You're right, driving such a monstrous vehicle shouldn't be that difficult, with a little training. When I started driving as a temp minibus cab driver many years ago, I learned how to drive a Mercedes Sprinter. Also checked both side mirrors to check if I was in the correct part of the street. Drove around the parking lot a for practicing a few turns and driving in between obstacles. The simple adagium: if you can get half of the bus past an obstacle before turning, you can get the entire bus past it. And if you're not sure, begin making a wider turn in advance or even just hit the brake, check your mirrors and start backing up slowly. The greatest threat that I found while driving a passenger van was not any potential harm coming from other road users. It was sometimes small kids who thought it would be funny and exciting to hide behind the back of the bus, where I couldn't see them, and wait what would happen next. Fortunately, I caught sight of the kid before it hid behind the bus so I just stopped, got out and gave a sever reprimand to the ''accidentally suicidal kid.'
So how has it go with the Ventilation roof? Have Byke still problems with it ?? :) Love to see the result and how you can enjoy all the time in the RV and just go whereever you like. I got a caravan to but much smaller but still you can go everywhere. So any more videos comming??
When I am in that seat, most of the time I'm focused on the road... never see the wheel anyways... 😊 Besides that, the whole dashboard is the ugliest part of the bus.
@@Onrust1 😂 I know what you mean! Just sat at traffic lights I’d be thinking how do I change it? The other thing is I was surprised to see you use the tachograph with a private vehicle. Is that law in Holland?
I didn’t realise you had to use a tacho as it is a private vehicle and not a commercial vehicle but you’re in the Netherlands so what do I know. Great video👍👍👍
@@Onrust1 in the U.K. if you convert a coach or bus as you have done it is classed as a private vehicle so not governed by tacho law. I love what you have done with that thing and great videos👍👍👍
@@Onrust1 So regarding the tacho law what if you were super rich and wanted a custom Rolls Royce that seated more than 11 people. Would it come in the scope of the law or would having the money just smooth the problem? Just a thought.👍👍
11 seats equals bus, equals tacho. Doesn't matter if it says Rolls Royce or - like mine - Neoplan on the outside, and doesn't matter how much money you have in your wallet..
You said it: in the UK you don't. Over here, you do. In Germany, you don't. I know. And do I know how it is in... fi. Czech Rep.? To make it easy and put an end to any discussion, I just put a disc in. I don't want no discussion in.. France (in French.. 😁) with some police officer about the local laws. I find putting in a chart easy and not that big of a problem, so I put one in. For me it's a no-brainer.
No leveling system? you're lucky it's so flat in the Netherlands. Here in the US many campsites are at a slight slope, usually no more than 15 degrees, but that's enough to be uncomfortable. I've seen worse, but those are usually tent only.
Goed gezien.
@@Onrust1 I'm a commercial truck driver in America, we now have electronic driver logs that track your hours of operation, time and location, just the first time I had seen any thing like that on a motor home camper
In my country there is discussion about that. I tried to figure out, so I read the laws, and I found out that where other countries make exceptions for private trips (it's about the trip, not the vehicle) in my country that exception was never made. So I'm pretty convinced you do need it here. But lots of people think you don't, even officers of the law. Because I find it no big deal to put in one of those discs when I leave, AND I know it prevents me from having some debate in ANY country at all, I just put one in. For me, it's a no-brainer...
1. It's not a motorhome, it's still a bus, 2. Even motorhomes have to use the tachograph, at least in some European countries, and in certain circumstances, that means .. 3. ..not all laws in Europe are equal on this (some countries know exceptions for driving for personal reasons vs. driving for business - some don't have those exceptions), 4. Putting in a chart is relatively easy, 5. To avoid any discussion with any officer of the law in any country, it is my personal choice to always put in a chart. It brings me ease of mind. See? 😊
@@Onrust1 it is a motor home and according to low 561/2006 if you don’t have more than 9 seats including driver and its not for commercial use you don’t need a speed limiter and a tachograph but it’s n your decision and in most countries of Europe when you’ll register you can register as a motor home and then will be exempt . Anyway that’s a nice build I’ve watched all your videos ,there is another one in Uk I’ve watched those too i wish i could afford to build one too unfortunately the DD are too expensive
No no no no. My bus has 11 seats. Need I say more? 😏 And can you tell *exactly* in which countries the 'not for commercial use' goes? I bet you don't. Give me my ease of mind.. 😊 Nice to hear you watched my videos! Thank you.
@@Onrust1 according to 561/2006 the non commercial use it’s all over EU so even if you have a bus full of people but you don’t charge them you are out of scope and by the way in Europe if you have 11 seats that’s mean you have seat belts to them , it’s not count as seats if you don’t have seatbelts cause you are not aloud to ride without a seatbelt I highly recommend to read the 561/2006 and regulations in Netherlands cause I can see you live there , cause I’m sure in Netherland you have different laws for motor homes like we have in Uk and I think you misunderstood the term seats , according to the build I think you have 9 seats fitted with belts , maybe I’m wrong , enlighten me
The EU laws are made, so local authorities can make their own laws with them. Not all the EU-rules go in all the member states. Some member states DID make an exception for non-commercial use, some didn't. The Netherlands didn't. My bus has 11 seats with seat belts and therefore is still a bus. Sorry for the delayed answer, I don't know why, but your answer was stuck in the spam filter of RUclips. (I check on that filter regularly, but somehow it wasn't shown.)
I find it very easy to use the tachograph. And because the rules are not in all countries of Europe equal, and I don't want to argue with police officers in whatever country (they TOO need to know that there is no need to use it) I don't think about it any longer and just put a chart in before I go away. For me it is a no-brainer.
No, it's not top-heavy, and that is because the main part of the 16000 kgs is very low in the vehicle. That is more or less a requirement, because there could be some 60 people upstairs, so that adds some weight there..
Op trailer of a frame.
This year, a few months ago during the annual maintenance / checkup, my mechanic got all the axles aligned, and also put the steering wheel straight. Not because I asked him to do so, but because he couldn't stand it too.. 😁😎

1:22 achhhttuuallyyyy. there is a trick what is use pretty long ago. kitchen stuff and even tools able to run from dc current. refrigerator ac have inverter what run pefectly from dc, tools, vacuums have unversal dc motors. electronic devices from pc suppy to tv start with graetz bridge so also run on dc current. so i have a fishing "hut" in hungary on a river island far from everything. i just use 15 small 40Ah lead-acid battery connected serial to provide 180V dc. what is enough to run anything. i have 2x 140W solar panels to charge it what does no look much, but i there only at weekends so have a time to charge... even enough winter time. one important thing left. i have a "current shock protector" relay what called "fi relay" in hungary and mandatory to use. its able to detect if the current flow to ground and brake the circuit. its pretty important because 180V dc cock u like a grilled chicken. the effiency is way better than systems with inverter and way more cheap. and even able to run my ac at nights.
Provoking thought. Yes, cheaper but nevertheless way less power as I have with my 4 x 230 Ah deep cycle AGM batteries. Your investment in batteries is about half of mine, but you have effectively about 1500 Wh (considering the lead acid ones can only be used for 20% or so), where I have 5500 Wh (based on 50%). True, you don't need an inverter, but those are not that expensive. And you will have to check everything whether it runs on 180V DC or not.. where my installation is truly plug and play. Still, I like those creative ways of thinking. Thank you.
Maybe it is me, but damage occurs on lead acid batteries when they are discharged beyond 50% ( www.rebel-cell.com/knowledge-base/the-discharge-and-capacity-of-batteries/#:~:text=1.-,a%20lead%20battery%20should%20never%20be%20fully%20discharged,-Lead-acid%20batteries ) and to be on the safe side, I calculate with 20%. The AGM's deep cycle batteries can go up to 70-75%, and so I calculate with 50%.
*Thanks RON* Awesome 😎👍 ...(still prefer steering my catamaran ("auto", zero gears ;-)) ...and I'm not getting wet - unless I want to ( _which I do sometimes!_ ) 🤣

My phone? Nice idea.
Are you not able to rev the engine to build air pressure?
Yes, if you want it to go quicker. But more convenient is just let it idle for 15 min., and do other stuff you have to do anyway.

I wish i have a bus like that bcauz i like travelling
You're right, driving such a monstrous vehicle shouldn't be that difficult, with a little training.
When I started driving as a temp minibus cab driver many years ago, I learned how to drive a
Mercedes Sprinter.
Have you think about putting some solar panels on the rooft?

Love to see the result and how you can enjoy all the time in the RV and just go whereever you like. I got a caravan to but much smaller but still you can go everywhere. So any more videos comming??
It seems to me that you haven't seen the last video yet... 😁
Brilliant bus, truly jealous. However, the steering wheel logo not being straight when your driving straight would drive me nuts!
The tacho-issue is complicated and the answer in the FAQ: sites.google.com/site/bigbuszz/faq---english
I’m surprised you need the tacho graph. Is it still registered as a bus?
Yes, because of the 11 seats in it, it is. More about this topic in the FAQ: sites.google.com/site/bigbuszz/faq---english
I didn’t realise you had to use a tacho as it is a private vehicle and not a commercial vehicle but you’re in the Netherlands so what do I know. Great video👍👍👍
Thank you!
The tacho-issue is complicated and I wrote some more on it in the FAQ: sites.google.com/site/bigbuszz/faq---english
Could you explain the circle card you put behind the dash?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tachograph 😊

N122 Skyliner. More in the FAQ: sites.google.com/site/bigbuszz/faq---english
I couldn't see where you put the bikes? the camera moved too fast.
Why do you use a tacho ? Here in the UK once it’s registered as a motorhome you do not need a tacho
Oh and the bus is no motorhome... it is still a bus..
What is the chart thing inserted in the dash?

@@Onrust1 Mind blown! In the USA drivers kept "log books" for years. Now it's a digital system. Thanks for the link, all new to me.
No leveling system? you're lucky it's so flat in the Netherlands. Here in the US many campsites are at a slight slope, usually no more than 15 degrees, but that's enough to be uncomfortable. I've seen worse, but those are usually tent only.

@@Onrust1 I'm a commercial truck driver in America, we now have electronic driver logs that track your hours of operation, time and location, just the first time I had seen any thing like that on a motor home camper
Do you need to fill in a tacho for a private vehicle?
In my country there is discussion about that. I tried to figure out, so I read the laws, and I found out that where other countries make exceptions for private trips (it's about the trip, not the vehicle) in my country that exception was never made. So I'm pretty convinced you do need it here. But lots of people think you don't, even officers of the law. Because I find it no big deal to put in one of those discs when I leave, AND I know it prevents me from having some debate in ANY country at all, I just put one in. For me, it's a no-brainer...
If you don't mind me asking how much was the cost of the build?
Cost is in this video: ruclips.net/video/7djK1DJprD8/видео.html
Marktplaats. In twee partijen, voor ieder 100 euro.
@@Onrust1 bedankt!
Hello why you have to use tachocharts if it is a motor home ?
And can you tell *exactly* in which countries the 'not for commercial use' goes? I bet you don't. Give me my ease of mind.. 😊
Nice to hear you watched my videos!
Love your buss. But why do you use the card that u fild out? Sins it's a private buss...
I find it very easy to use the tachograph. And because the rules are not in all countries of Europe equal, and I don't want to argue with police officers in whatever country (they TOO need to know that there is no need to use it) I don't think about it any longer and just put a chart in before I go away. For me it is a no-brainer.

Yes. See my other videos, F.I. ruclips.net/video/WvKWoFehyOQ/видео.html
Does it feel top-heavy while driving? From the video it seems to look pretty stable, much more than I would expect in a double decker.
No, it's not top-heavy, and that is because the main part of the 16000 kgs is very low in the vehicle. That is more or less a requirement, because there could be some 60 people upstairs, so that adds some weight there..

Op trailer of a frame.
how much did you get for selling seats ?
Twice 100 euros. Back in 2012..
Is that an EPS gearbox?
I don't know. What's that?
Man you need a front end alignment pretty bad or your steering wheel is way off center. Either way that would drive me nuts having a wheel that off.
This year, a few months ago during the annual maintenance / checkup, my mechanic got all the axles aligned, and also put the steering wheel straight. Not because I asked him to do so, but because he couldn't stand it too.. 😁😎
How come you're using a Tacho for private use?

Thank you.
@@Onrust1 180V*40Ah is 7200Wh.
Correct.
And 20% of that is about 1500.
@@Onrust1 but how u get that 20%?? you misunderstand something... the Ah effiency of lead-acid battery is 85% one of the best.
The AGM's deep cycle batteries can go up to 70-75%, and so I calculate with 50%.

do you not park the bus on your own property?
No. No room for that here.
